I did the same thing almost. Took out a 454 oldie and put in a crate 496. and removed the engine cradles and installed heidts from end and motor mount. Converted steering box to rack. Fun stuff lots of grinding.

The same type of u-bolts are used to mount the rear axle to all leaf spring vehicles... never heard or seen any break... but billet caps would be trick lol

@@dominicclark97 Mine isn't quite that bad, the floors are still solid but the pinchwelds at the bottom of the door frames are toast, and there is a hole in the bed the size of Kansas, soo, that's a thing. There is a lot of patched (poorly I think) rust, but in reality the truck is probably just a rolling engine donor at this point.
