I've had one begin to come apart before. 1986 SVO mustang in some twisties on the first drive (internet purchase and shipped across the country). Fortunately I realized something was very loose in the front end and turned around immediately to drive the 1 mile home. Super sketchy!
@ryanknight75165 жыл бұрын
Doesn't sound fun. And more so with this build where he is going to Hoon it, just would be much better with a U joint. Plus no need to replace it in 10,000 miles lol. I believe Dorman makes a replacement shaft but there is a guy who makes custom shafts. Derek's steering shafts

There are some nice u-joint couplers that have a..I think it's a silicone damper to attenuate high frequency vibration being transmitted to the wheel. These are supposed to give a good compromise between steering feedback and anti-fatigue.

If your panel gaps are good, then drill one small diameter hole(1/8", give or take) all the way through the body panel-shim stack-body structure at each end of each body panel, beside each panel mounting bolt(do the same on the door hinges too) - this way, the next time you take any of these panels off again, when you go to mount them back up you can put the panel in place, drop a couple bolts in leaving them loose, then take a piece of welding rod/coat hanger/a finishing nail, anything like that, stick it in the small hole you drilled, and it will help line up your panel gaps back to where they were before you took them off, then you can tighten up the panel bolts after eyeballing the gaps and call it done. This saves a LOT of time over needing to line up your panel gaps EVERY time you remove a panel - just put the panel back with the mounting bolts loose, line up your alignment holes and drop an alignment "pin"(aka welding rod) in, eyeball the gaps and tighten the bolts. And, Zac - don't act like you aren't going to pull that front clip off again down the road, c'mon now, you know better...
@ag3nto5785 жыл бұрын
