What an intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, grounded young man. Kudos, Yuzuru. Praying for your good health, strength, & happiness. We support you always. What a nice gesture to stand for Yuzuru. Great introduction; full of admiration & respect.
During the whole hour nobody asked about his recovery from his injury. Do you know that he decided to fight for the Olympics knowing his injury will get worse and the possibility of no full recovery at all? That’s why he said he bet his life. He kept all the pain and frustration to himself and made everything look so easy, on ice or in life. so people started to take him for granted. The fans, the judges, and the journalists. What’s next? Are you going to break your world record once again? Are you going to do 4A or even quintuple jumps? Someone asked how hard it is to do a quadruple jump, well I suggest you stand up and jump for one circle. I tell you it’s hard. I thank God for you 羽生结弦 for being a role model for so many people and pray for your quick and full recovery from your injury on your right foot, so you can skate to the world you dreamed of when you were a little boy.

- They should watch YUZURU HANYU - ROAD TO GOLD MEDAL. It makes us understand his mistakes (in his own word when actually it looked amazing when he was able to balance himself and did not fall) during the competition and his emotional happiness after he completed all the jumps.

@@annenemesis194where can I watch this? I can’t find it on youtube
Really enjoyed his perspective on artistry vs technical ability and how the proper technique is very important to achieving that balance. I also find it fascinating that he seems to have a deeper interest in studying the science of figure skating and how that knowledge can aid in improving the sport on many levels. Lastly, I was most intrigued by his thoughts surrounding his desire to inspire a diversity of cultures in figure skating. This was one reason why skating to Semei for his long program was so important to him. There does seem to be westernized (European/Russia/US) expectations when it comes to FS especially in style and music and if skaters don’t conform to that it can sometimes not be well received. His desire to change this is wonderful. The more I hear from this young man, the more impressed I am. He is intelligent, well-spoken and of course extremely talented. This was a great interview. Thanks for sharing.

No wonder journalists flocked to Hanyu Press Conference because his answers were inteligent and funny too. His in depth knowledge on figure skating almost sounds like a lecture by a professor 😁

YES they finally asked Yuzu about Javi!!! Just like Yuzu, I was waiting for that. I feel kinda bad that Javi gets asked about Yuzu so often, especially at times when it's maybe... a bit rude? Like when the focus really should have been on Javi and his own skating. So glad that Yuzu finally got to speak about him... so sad that this will probably be the last time we see them compete together T.T I really enjoyed this interview. They asked a lot of great questions and Yuzu continues to impress me with his insight and passion for all aspects of his sport. Thanks so much for uploading!

I don't speak Japanese, but she seems to be by far the best translator I've seen. I'm bilingual myself, and translation is often so difficult even if you're fluent in both languages, so to be able to jot everything down and translate so quickly and seemingly so fully as well; definitely a great job on her part!

A good opening by the emcee in getting everyone to congratulate Yuzuru, but they should have vetted audience questions first before letting people freely go up for questions... The Takenaka reporter from Reuters - did you even think about how ridiculous your question sounded? You’re from Reuters, goodness sake you should’ve given the question opportunity to someone else who could’ve asked something less ignorant Saying something like “it’s still difficult for me to understand how difficult a quad jump is... can you help me appreciate how difficult (the quad jump) is” sounds super ignorant and self centric imo.. Yuzuru already did an explanation regarding the jumps earlier and you’re wasting precious airtime of other press members by AGAIN asking him to help you appreciate the difficulty of his craft..?? He could repeat himself a hundred times and you still wouldn’t understand how difficult it is, unless you’re a skater or olympian yourself... and the other reporter who asked the question on North Korea’s participants..what planet do you live on that you believe in asking Yuzuru about his opinion of them (not relevant to his performance at all) and for him to casually invite them over to Japan to “ski with them a little bit”?¿? Other than that, well done Yuzuru for fielding questions so well, I especially loved his reply to the question about his opinion on choice of performance music! Even being Asian (Singaporean Chinese) myself, the first time I watched his Seimei performance I found it difficult to appreciate the accompanying music, but as I watched his entire free skate to completion I realised how beautiful it was combined with his breathtaking performance.. now the Seimei/ Onmyoji soundtrack is in my music playlist and I’m still listening to it and appreciating it more and more. Congratulations to Yuzuru, the man, the myth, the legend!! Rest well, continue your amazing work, and may you power on to Beijing 2022, I hope be able to see you there!!

Да, Юдзуру спортсмен, истинно влюблённый в своё дело. Не то что фигуристы однодневки. Выиграли один раз случайно золото и на этом заканчивают своё выступление. Дальше нет ни силы, ни желания. Меркантильность на первом месте.

Apparently there are no words in Japanese for 'skate' and 'jump''
@rachelt76647 жыл бұрын
I think you're right! haha
@skatingflower64696 жыл бұрын
As a matter of fact, there are words in Japanese for them. skate is 氷滑りin Kanji +Hiragana(こおりすべりin Hiragana ,pronounce as" koorisuberi", literally means" ice slide." jump is 跳躍in Kanji, Chinese character(ちょうやくin Hiragana, pronounce as "choyaku," Both are now very old -fashioned especially in figure skating, So many pure beautiful Japanese words have been replaced by European languages, sad in a way though,,,
@ancamg6 жыл бұрын
It was a joke, as I assumed there are Japanese words for jump or skate, but I know globalization brings these words into other languages. It happens with many other languages, not only Japanese (Kanji or other).
