@@jakewaw101 Why is everbody so sure about Ben Johnson? Yes, he's a lights-out offensive coordinator and may be the answer. I don't know. The point is, none of us knows because he's never been a head coach. The NFL graveyard of history is littered with guys who were terrific offensive or defensive coordinators, yet didn't have what it takes to do all the things well a head coach must do. Or, they were handcuffed by bad ownership/management, or were great with schemes but had no experience or ability to take a broken culture and fix it. Johnson did have a front-row seat watching Dan Campbell tear down the Lions and rebuild a new culture, but it's not an easy thing (look how long the Detroit tried and failed). Again, Johnson may be the guy, but I suspect other factors outside of his control -- The McCaskeys, Ryan Poles, the Bears broken mindset et al -- could relegate him to the heap of failed coordinators turned NFL head coaches. Rather than looking specifically for a genius schemer to develop Caleb Willliams I think Chicago must take its time and find a guy with the right temperment and experience to reconstruct the whole shootin' match.

Why spend your valuable time on a team who’s ownership only cares about staying on the cheap and not about excellence and winning? Most professional franchises are owned by mavericks who created their own wealth ie bright, dynamic people. Meanwhile the Bears ownership is simply inherited wealth. They’ve created nothing but simply leeched off of fans and the city. All they care about is saving money and acquiring yours instead. Keeping Eberflus who they knew was an unsuccessful head coach simply to save their money. That’s it. If they could have had Harbaugh at the same price would they have taken him? Of course. Even idiots can see basic facts. So why tie yourselves to these idiots simply because of geographic location? Makes no sense. Wake up and move on.

Re: Poles. He extended Jaylon, he cut bait with bad players like Claypool, he traded a pick for Sweat to have a legit guy that needs a double team on the D Line, and the Carolina trade will go down as one of the great trades in modern NFL history. Trey Lance kinda ruined what the compensation could have been. But I'm also curious if the Bears could have gotten like 5 1st round picks and fired everyone last offseason.

I like Poles he's better than Pace but if you look at his record in free agency, drafting, player development and hiring coaches he grades pretty low. How will he get better if you extend him? His draft pick misses are very high, and we have no pro-bowlers for the one's that he may have hit on. The team has no culture whatsoever, it's a laughingstock in the league, his win loss record is horrible. I think we've seen enough of him, and he needs to go.

I hate pro bowlers as a metric because you aren’t going to get them on a losing team and two the bears are discounted for rewards for some reason. Look at roquan he was one of the best LBs in the league and only got recognized for it when he went to the ravens Also his win loss was going to be horrible because he was brought in to do a strip down rebuild. A lot of his problems can be explained away by that but for his eye for coaches. He kept the oline coach because he thought he was developing them.

I think the reason everybody is so worried and upset is we all add and that's including the media for way too much expectations for this season is because of Caleb and all fairness he's had what you would call a normal rookie year if you go back and look at some of the great quarterbacks Tom Brady the Manning's Drew Brees I mean there's a lot of great quarterbacks that had bad rookie seasons and the only reason the expectations were so high is because of the offensive weapons but they didn't count on the offensive line being that terrible

Question, why are Biggs' articles like trying to read F'n War & Peace? so damn long, condense it. I do agree with Biggs about the 2001 team tho. Man what a great year. Lost the 1st game to the Super Bowl defending champ Ravens, 9/11 happens then we only lost 2 more the rest of the way (both Packers games, which sucked). Then of course Jim Miller gets hurt vs the Ea Gals and we're 1 and done in the playoffs.

Johnson can see Poles is incompetent and does not trust him to make good roster decisions such as a better offensive line. Johnson is not making a crazy demand. He simply doesn't want to ruin his coaching career in Chicago. The top head coaches (Belichick, Harbaugh, Carroll) demand full control of their roster and preferred GM to work with. I'm sure Johnson saw how Ryan Pace undermined coach John Fox by secretly drafting Mitchell Trubisky (behind Fox's back). Fox wanted DeShaun Watson for QB. Pace's poor decision set Fox up to fail. Eli Manning demanded the right to waive the team which drafted him in the NFL draft, to avoid being sent to a dysfunctional team (Eli must have been worried Chicago would draft him) that would not set Manning up to succeed. Eli's father Archie (former Saints QB) did not want a poorly managed team to ruin his son's NFL career. Caleb's father was dumb not to do the same for his son because I'm sure Caleb regrets being drafted by Chicago. 😂

He got a concussion in game 5 on Oct. 6th and never played again this season. I think next season is the last year of his rookie deal. If he tries to play next year, he won't make it very far before he either gets another injury or his head gets dinged again, and that will be it. No 2nd contract for him, sorry...damaged goods. The Problem with the new coaches and or a gm as well possibly is that Caleb is screwed the way the last to QBs we drafted were. No one will be aligned to Caleb. The new staff will have to agree to him and then use him as an excuse if things go south. This team always does everything wrong and they're still doing just that. In 2 years CW will be on his way out.

Biggest difference is Caleb is better than Mitch and Justin by far and when looking at the available jobs he’s the best qb available to HC candidates. So there will be buy into Caleb as the guy.

All Bears fans r shouting Ben Johnson for HC but look at what few teams have done!! Detroit hires Defensive guy that changed the culture but hired a very good OC. Washington did the exact same thing!! Both have changed big time!! Don't be so quick to judge. U all need to get a HC who'll change the thinking in there!! U have no idea if Ben Johnson will be a good HC!!

Culture is the most overused and ultimately misused word that describes any NFL team. Nobody wins forever. Everything is cyclical. People just naturally equate culture with success. Coach has success elsewhere so all you hear about is they’re going to bring that culture to the new team. That they’re a “culture hire”. New coach struggles at first, but is “building” the culture because you have to get rid of all the “bad” culture first. Coach then starts to have success and now all anyone can talk about is their great culture. Inevitably success wanes and suddenly there are “culture” issues that need to be addressed. Same head coach, but they suddenly could spell culture if you gave them all of the vowels. ReMember how the media fawned all over Eberflus’ HITS principles because it fell out of the Tampa 2 tree? Then he benches the teams best OL because, you know, his culture dictates having a good Thursday practice is more important than playing your 5 best OL on Sunday. Fields gets killed even though bad Thursday practice guy shows he’s still better than any of the other lineman in the 2 series he gets, but you gotta break a few eggs to make a culture omelette right? Ostensibly Thursday practices improve and they show just enough improvement to say, here you see we have good culture and all of the knuckle draggers rejoice. The same knuckle draggers who 2 years later say Culture guy is the worst HC in bears history and must go right now. So too must Thursday practice guy because crappy culture guy must have been right about him if nothing else. How about we start calling it the “C” word, treat it as a curse, hire a coach that knows how to score points. The rest will work itself out.

I blame Ryan Pace for choosing to over pay for veteran players who were past their prime and for trading away draft choice so that when Ryan Poles came to town the Bears had too big of a salary and too few draft choices. He had to clean up the mess with no high draft choices and try to rebuild the team without a lot to work with. Sure there are some players who were a disappointment but he has been able to bring in new talent and get the team financially sound again. The future looks bright if he can rebuild the trenches and bring in a truly good coaching staff.

Poles was great on the teardown. His drafting of round 1-2 have been good. His addressi.g of the Oline has been beyond horrible. Claypool was delt for a 1st round pick when he had a low 2nd round to give. The Steelers were probably going to cut him. Pickens whi has barely played instead of a good center. All the position coaches who sucked and or got fired is probably the worst of it though.

When you say that you will build the trenches and then you don't, you have to go. It takes at least a couple of years for an OL to gel. How can a former offensive lineman not realize this? It seems as though he thought he signed a longer contract than 4 years. He has drafted 2 punters and projects in the 3rd and 4th rounds. He said it would be tough to make this roster in the preseason. These are all indictments against the idea to keep the current GM.

No.... blame Poles for his own boat load of mistakes. This is his team and it is just bad. He is bad. The fact that he gave up a 2nd for Claypool while giving away a young Pro Bpwl LB for a 4th is all you need to know about him as a GM. The rest of his F' ups is just icing on the cake.
@darthcy9790
@darthcy9790 2 күн бұрын
@@spazdog922 it's actually worse because he had 2 2nd round picks and he delt the better pick for claypool. Basicall he outbid himself for a player they were probably going to release. It turned out to be a 1st round pick with a 2nd round salary adding insult to injury.

The season was doomed the moment they decided to keep Eberfuk. There's no alpha men in that building that knwk football. Warren is running around town for a public funded stadium, poles draft players that played like him and ole George is more concerned about ticket and merchandise sells than winning...

The culture isnt "broken". this is more nonsense. The Bears lack intelligence and talent. they dont have coaches that can out scheme anyone. they havent had those guys for 50 years aside from Ryan in the 80's and Fangio most recently. and both those guys were on defense. the Bears have never had a smart offensive coach - maybe nagy. Get johnson. Get Salah. Invest in your lines. Stop paying for linebackers. Stop investing in WR's. its not rocket science.
