This is the very best explanation of the C3 vacuum system I have ever seen and I love the diagrams and your testing techniques as well. You obviously understand how the C3 systems work. I have a '71 Coupe where I followed your instructions and it made the job super easy. It makes me wonder why GM just didn't use small electric motors, like they did for the C2's and C4's. It would have simplied the assembly at the factory and it seems that it would have been overall less expensive. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.

Your video is absolutely perfect. Lots of technical details, easy-to-follow troubleshooting, and great part recommendations. I have all the assembly manuals and seen a multitude of videos, but none of them demonstrated the process (with a project car) like your video series on the C3. After leaving my first comment last week about “not even owning a corvette” I now have my cousins 1969 big block corvette sitting in my garage. The car has been sitting in her garage for 9 years under a dusty cover and she asked me to get it running again, so your video series is a God send to me. I already pre oiled the motor and did the same procedure you do preparing the engine for its first start up. Now I am going through the vacuum system trying to get the wiper door to work…but it looks like someone was previously tinkering around with the vacuum actuator for the wiper door and the moment I tried to unscrew the actuator like you did in your video the whole lever inner arm fell off inside the plastic housing box! I found the small nut and washer laying at the bottom of the plastic housing. The problem is there is no access to get in to the plastic housing to re attach the inner actuator arm to the wiper door linkage inside that plastic housing box!! The only way to gain access is to use a small 2 inch hole saw and make a access hole on top the plastic wiper door actuator housing so I can re attach the hex arm to the actuator arm. Any other ideas? I definitely don’t want to take apart the whole wiper door linkage and spring to fix this problem. Seems like making a access hole on top of the plastic actuator housing is the most practical way, I can always plug the hole when I’m finished! Again, thank you so much for this incredible video series… it’s the gold standard for anyone who repairs or owns C 3 corvettes. Your definitely the best on KZbin or anywhere else!

Loving these videos. I would have struggled much more with my C3 without them. For testing if the light actuators work, I used a hand vacuum pump. You can get them as part of a brake fluid bleed kit, or just on their own. I basically just pumped a vacuum by hand to test the light popping mechanism. This could help if you can't start the car while doing these repairs.

Great video. I am currently troubleshooting my vacuum system and I have noticed that my check valve is not working, so I tried to just bypass it for now and use a hand vacuum pump to pump up vacuum directly to the vacuum canister, but it is not building up any vacuum. Should a hand vacuum pump be able to do this you think? Or is the vacuum canister simply too big for a hand vacuum pump?

Hey Tom! I saw in the comments in one of the videos in this series that the links to the parts you are using no longer work because of contract issues. I have been looking online for a complete vacuum hose kit for a '78 L82 (to ship to Ontario) and can't seem to find it. Is there a link you can share, or a company you could whisper really quietly to help me out? Thanks for all these videos and your considerable knowledge!
