68. An essential Jig for your Workmate

In this video I make a bench hook and a shooting board for my Black and Decker Workmate. This is an essential Jig for any workshop workbench, if you don't have one it is well worth building this workmate accessory, in fact it is good for any workbench.

Hi Simon, Wow! I have found that your mods for the Workmate are really good. I'm lucky to have happened on a MkII workmate and a Model 425. I set out to make them useful, the MkII had bad top panels and the 425 was just a frame. Adding a couple of vises helps make the devises really useful. Adding the power strip is just wizard. (Face palm here, mate). I currently have both WMs set up on trolleys and have one center panel that holds a big machinist vise. Could have set that up as a big T-shaped drop in so it could be used on the big bench top, but sometimes I like working in the garage or out under the big Oak tree in the shade. Thank you for the ideas. They are appreciated.

You could add another piece of plywood on top of your bench hook to make it the same height as the surface of your shooting board, that way you can use the two together to support longer workpieces. Like your videos!

Hi Simon, Another great video. It is a relatively easy addition to the hook if you make a couple of 45degree cuts in the "hook/fence" piece. You can then use it to easily cut beading at 45. (Like a mini mitre block)
