Beautiful job Joe, who ever restored the front grill surrounds and head light surrounds did an excellent job as well! Its not an easy job, I took apart mine, and had them "bright dipped" and repaired broken studs, and swedge riveted, (like factory), them back together. Quite a process. I couldn't quite get the two, (upper & lower) pieces to squeeze together as tight as I would have liked at the but joints, but, just a nice driver too. That 'cuda is going to be beautiful once you spray the final color coat on her! Great Job Joe! PS: If the guy that restored the grill surrounds doesn't mind, a link to his business would really help a few A body barracuda owners out that want to restore theirs. Almost impossible to find anyone with the skill to do them correctly.
@JustMoparJoe21 күн бұрын
It is hard to find the right people for those kinds of repairs. I will see if Darren will share their information. I’d love to have them in racecar 😂
@dannovello157720 күн бұрын
@JustMoparJoe i lived just south of San Francisco, and drove my parts to, (& from), LA, (because I feared they would be dammaged/lost if mailed), to a shop that does the correct bright dip process to the aluminum, and they straightened some dents as well. Riveting them back together was a whole nuther challenge. Being hard-headed, I didn't want to use pop rivets, so had to find correct size, factory style rivets, and had a machinist make, and modify tools to be able to work/fit in the tight areas where the parts are riveted together. (for the stud repairs too), was about a 2 year process to get it completed. I took pictures of the process, but wish I had a (time laps) video of it, to help others. This was back in 2016 - 18. Now I live in TN. Not sure if that bright dip shop even exists in LA anymore, with all the air quality regulations. : /

3M two sided tape might be a good idea Joe. It's made in several thicknesses, I have a roll of .020" by 1" in clear, and another that's. 040" by 1" in black. It will stop any wear into the paint. I don't know if it's available in 1/4" width, which is about what you'd need, but you could cut whatever width you can get down. Just a thought, enjoy your videos!
