I was able to pick up the Trickflow 240 heads for the Big block mopar dyno 440 build series, that recently began.
The trickflow 240 heads are the best street head that’s currently available for the big block mopar.
These heads were checked out and slightly modified by ‪@edsmachine93‬. He has videos showing his progress on these exact heads. He also did the machine work on the 440 HP block that I’m building for this project.

I have them on my .040 over 440 with stock rods and factory crank in my 70 GTX. I added the Edelbrock performer rpm intake, comp cams .509 lift cam, flat hydraulic tappet. .020 thick head gaskets 1 7/8” TTI headers and flat top pistons. Cranking compression is 190 psi and mathematically compression ratio is 10:2:1. Edelbrock 800 CFM carb and roller 1:5 rockers. On the dyno is dyno’d at 540 hp and 555 tq. No more pinging, no more heat issues, no more gasoline boiling in the carb. Love these heads.

I don't know about "low buck" but TrickFlow does make a set for the SB Mopar... The TrickFlow PowerPort 190. They make them for the 318 and 360. Looks like they are LA block heads but can be used on a Magnum but will need a LA intake and shaft rockers...
@JustMoparJoe

MAE, it’s the truth. Everyone’s perception of low buck and high performance are also subjective. I like seeing nice parts like the trickflow stuff that’s readily available for the street packages. They claim 620 hp with a 440 that has 10.5 compression. That’s a fun pump gas big block, in a kit that’s available for under 5k. Exciting stuff, and true to the roots versus the new gen 3 hemi swaps

Great video guys. I built a 512 stroker from a 440 with comp roller cam approx. 650 lift, 11 to 1 compression with Icon forged pistons, scat rods with BB chevy rod bearing ends and 2" primary TTI headers for my 70 Charger with tremic 5 speed. I used these TF 240 heads and it's a torque monster on the street up to about 6k rpm. Could I have done better with the 270s?
@JustMoparJoe
@JustMoparJoe Ай бұрын
@@spankyhadley515 engine masters says yes. I think if you’re not going racing every weekend, then the trick flow 240’s are better for your application. If we look at the supposed limitations of the stock block, 700 is roughly the limit. With your car, you should easily be over 600. The 512 I built to be 12.7/1 in my barracuda is somewhere 600+ according to the ET’s and the weight of the car(check out the playlist). Anyway, with your long stroke like me, torque will definitely be your friend. Max wedge ports would gain you the top end and additional power. But then ask yourself, do you have the appropriate oil supply system to run over 6,500? Is the transmission and rearend capable? It all starts to add up. Your heads are the best stock style port aluminum that I’ve encounter so far. I’m actually doing a dyno 512 with them in the spring!

I've subscribed recently. I like the vast experience you bring. I have a recent 440 build with the Trickflow heads and was wondering if you communicate other than through commenting. I could use some advice after my initial start up with some issues and wanted to pick your brains. Do you use emails? Give out phone number at all? I have some white spark plugs and was hoping to get some advice for plugs/jetting etc. Currently I am using NGK BKR6E plugs you advised previously. Trickflow lists an Autolite 3924 but I'm not sure if it's just a heat range issue. The engine had a six pack setup with a Purple Shaft 484/284 cam and it ran great. I kept jetting the same to get the engine running but I might have a heat range problem or a jetting issue OR BOTH. How would you attack this? Thank you. Enjoy your content.

This was a great video. Has Ed installed these heads on the stock HP cast iron manifolds? Is there an issue? Would you have a recommendation for the spark plug to use for a 240 head on a 440 motor with 10:1 compression? I can't install the stock champion plugs on these heads and I am hoping I can still use the HP manifolds and have no issues with plug wires and plug interference. I know it's better to use headers but I would rather use the stock manifolds. Enjoy your videos.
