Well helping offset the cost of college is apparently too much. My school was $12,000 a year in the early 2000's when one of my friends went there. I paid $48,000 in 2015-2018. Today, it's $58,0000. But everyone complained they paid their debt off, so why should I pay for yours? Well... the same argument applies here. Why should I pay for your kid? I don't have kids, and I already pay for the public schools through property taxes.

I don't see how this different than student loan forgiveness. You made a decision to have a kid, why should I be paying for your kid? Now, I mean this rhetorically, because I do think there's benefit to society from both having kids and going to college, and thus I don't disagree with support.
