69 Saving and Sowing Hardy Cyclamen Seeds

Not the large flowering cyclamen pot plants given as presents at Christmas that suffer coping with central heating and overwatering! Hardy cyclamen grow outdoors actually enjoying the cold weather the same time producing masses of small sweetly scented flowers. The corm increases in size each year (means more flowers) and you can save the seeds to produce your own plants.

Super helpful video. Thank you very much. I have a couple questions and would be grateful if anyone could be of assistance; Are the seed capsules different from the flowers? Bc I read some ppl say wait until the flower blooms die, but why would I wait for the blooms to die if the seeds are in different pods on the plant? Can I just wait until I see the pod split on it’s own while it’s still part of the plant?

The seed pod develops from the calix which is the rear part of the flower, so when the flower goes over and falls, it leaves the developing calix /seed pod on the stem, this folds over until it touches the ground where the seeds will fall on to the ground and germinate. Chris B.
