I am the cyclist in the video.
I was not riding very fast. I saw the car wasn’t planning to stop before the zebra cross,
I did trying to stop, but it takes time for bike to fully stop.
Do you guys know why the video is muted? Because the cam car driver horns me and KNN n FU.

He stopped his car on zebra cross.
And argue cyclists r not pedestrians.
I believe the police officer came and made very clear with him. In the video,
I was wearing helmet and all other stuffs LTA requested.
I was riding on sidewalk and following the zebra cross.
Btw, according LTA, cyclists do not have to dismounted and push the bike when crossing zebra cross. I did not go over 10km/hr.
It was about 5 -6 kk/hr.
I am driving also.
But I enjoy weekend rides.
I see most of the posts, you guys r try to separate singaporean.
Such like drivers vs cyclists.
It is very dangerous.
You guy got families also, you will like to see drivers stop at zebra cross for ur children or ur old parents.
The cam car driver is dangerous and reckless person. I thought we had agreement infront of police officers!

according to guidance by lta, cyclists can use pavements like pedestrians. cars on the other hand, have a nice stop line BEFORE the zebra crossing. the stop line means, your car should be at a complete stop before the stop line. as a driver I know this sounds insane, but that's what a stop line means.

if you are on the driving / riding, you follow the driving rules, if you are a pedestrian, you walk like a pedestrian. A cyclist if use the zebra crossing (pedestrian crossing) has to slow down like a pedestrian speed. As the driver turning the corner is looking out for pedestrians, and not a fast moving vehicle (the vision angle and reaction time is different). So, the bicycle, you have to strictly be on the road as a vehicle, or on the pedestrian walkway as a pedestrian, cannot be both.

Correct. I drive and also use public transport. When I cross the road, I will always wait for cars to stop before crossing, a bit kiasi, but at least I can reach home in one piece and not hortizonally in a coffin. Ever see got cars dash zebra crossings and red lights when people were crossing, it was just inches away from death sia. For SG Law ....Cyclist supposed to push the bicycle across the zebra crossing . The purpose of doing it is to let driver aware that there is a person going to use the crossing. Both the driver and cyclist should be alert at the zebra crossing slowing down and get ready to stop if there is a situation. I myself is a driver, rider and cyclist. To be fair to both parties. I start with the driver first, he may not be driving very slowly but he still managed to stop in time not to run over the cyclist. As for the cyclist, you must slow down and get ready to stop in case the driver never and not presume that all drivers will stop for you. This time lucky the driver stopped in time if not the cyclist won't be so aggressive standing arguing with the driver. For riders and cyclists ride safe, there is no right of way only safety way.

Highway Code states that Pedestrians and Cyclists should stop at Zebra Crossings and wait until it is safe to step onto the road. Many cyclist assume that they don't need to stop. This is a wrong and dangerous attitude.

Zebra crossing is designed for walking pedestrian and also giving driver a better judgement to see and stop. If you have a running pedestrian or a even faster bicycle, definitely the driver has less reaction time. This cyclist did not slow or dismount to cross the zebra crossing in the first place, his subsequent behaviour is also undesirable and disruptive to smooth traffic flow. The driver did right to react and jam brake. Verdict : Cyclist wrong. I am both a driver and cyclist. I reduced cycling for a few years because of the quality reduction of our cyclist and driver.

The biker has no right of way on a pedestrian or zebra crossing unless he comes off the bike and walks across the crossings. Here, the biker is flip-flopping between a biker and a pedestrian for his own convenience and benefits at the detriment of the motorist. He was clearly wrong but yet he stood his ground of having the right of way. There are no clear laws in SG in regulating the bikers and pmd riders. The motorists pay road tax, erp charges and insurance to drive on the roads,, these people don’t pay anything. Come on LTA and TP, wake up, this is your jurisdiction.

Driver should stay in the vehicle to avoid confrontation. Just show the rider that you are calling the police, he will definitely leave.

Many cyclists and personal mobility aids (PMAs) riders like to speed across the zebra-crossing without checking for oncoming traffic. They expect the car drivers to see them coming from the blind-spots...Even though we slowed down, but we are forced to brake hard and might end up getting rear-ended...🙄
