Squier Jazzmaster (40th Anniversary) Bridge Mounting Post Body Repair.

I bought a used Squier 40th Anniversary Jazzmaster with hidden body damage. The bridge mounting post cup hole was oversized and chipped. Here is a quick Superglue and Baking Soda repair. What do you call these "cups"? Bridge mounting posts? Bridge Thimbles? Bridge cups?

These guitars are a steal when they assemble them correctly. Man, what I would have given for a “budget” guitar this nice in the early 90’s! Beautiful demo. I’d say 0.2mm is close enough in something made of wood and baking soda. It’s your guitar, fix it how you want to.

Thanks for this video, some great tips. I hadn't heard of the baking soda one. I got one of these secondhand off eBay recently, it plays very very well and sounds pretty good too. I will probably change the pickups and electronics just for a project, but it is not really necessary. Also, I read in a few places that these 40th anniversary JMs already have an angled pocket, so you don't need to shim.

Nice demo, I have the same guitar different color, went through a whole setup process. Guitar is a bit finicky but it's cool, not my favourite. Maybe ill try some of your tricks.

Thanks for commenting! I like the blue jazzmasters better. But I couldn’t find one with the bound neck. Though I’m not thrilled with it, it’s still a decent value guitar.

@@6dbthreshold yeah, I got a great deal, $315. They were blowing them out last year. I was more impressed with the squire contemporary series, bought a strat and Tele.. made in china. Set up to perfection out of the box. I really like Squire. Look forward to more videos from you. Take care.

@MaTTheWish I’ve bought, repaired, setup, and sold 7 Squier Teles and Strats (Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe). All were fantastic guitars that I got used for less than $250. I’m guessing the jazzmaster was an outlier - maybe damaged by the factory and QA didn’t catch it. If the thimbles were not damaged, I’d recommend it to anybody. Just bad luck on my part.
