i bearly write comments on videos, like literally once every 4 years or so... what you are doing in this videos is absolutly amazing..these tips dont seem to be brand new or the magic key to succes, but rather they are IN DEPTH! i can watch and listen too 10000's of tutorials, but when everybody just pretends that a minor tweak on this or that knob can be heard by everybody (espc from absolut beginners who are a big part of the people watching and might not even have the gear to hear a sub past 30/40Hz freq) and you finally explain them. thank you so freaking much, this is amazing! i'm guessing you're from the NLD from your accent (and sorry if im wrong but none the less), greeting from your (maybe) neighbour in germany, thank you so much! :)

Haha, I'm from Poland, so I am closer than you might think! Thanks for the appreciation :) Yes, very often the things I show in the videos are not something very magical or it isn't a "secret" knowledge. But I try to make every concept understandable, which I think is the key if you want to produce music and not to just "watch and repeat on your computer what someone else tells in the tutorial".

great tutorial, keep killing it! I would love to see a tutorial about mixing and how to have a rumble that sounds good even in cell phones thats the one i would love to see, and maybe an ush type kick/rumble tutorial too keep up my man, nothing but luv.

Thanks! That would probably require just a tutorial on how to use multiband compression on hard techno kick drums, but I know this video will be extra long, and at least as of now, I won't have time to produce such a video.. regarding the rumble that sounds good even on cell phones ; you need to control the frequencies of the kick from like idk, 170hz up to 250hz, so if your kick doesn't have much of these, then use saturation and if the kick has too much of these, cut them with an EQ. if these frequencies are too "short", you can then try using multiband compresion to alter their dynamics. But that advice is very rough and ultra quick.. Not sure when another rumble tutorial will come, but if it's going to happen, I might ask the audience on what artist should I reference to :) Cheers!

at 5:17 and on it's not clear what you do to the fx rack we had on the reverb and punch it's kinda confusing since it's on the same midi clip, when you eq everything are you eqing only the reverb or the whole kick including the punch ? i'm kinda loss

Hi! From 5:03, a "Reverb" chain is soloed, and then exported as a separate .wav file, that I attach to another pad in the Drum Rack. From that point, the "Reverb" chain gets turned off for the remaining of the video, and only the 'Dry" chain works with the punch kick drum. The effects I add (Auto Filter, Volume Shaper, etc.) until 7:32 are added on the exported reverb sound only. From 7:32, the effects are added to the whole channel outside of the Drum Rack, meaning I process with them both exported rumble sound, and the punch kick drum (that is also processed by the "Dry" chain in the Audio Effect Rack. The "Reverb" chain is at that time turned off).

Hello Marcin, this is a great video. I'm looking forward to creating a similar sounding kick and rumble :) Could you please explain how you exported the raw reverb from the audio effect rack at 5:03 - it is driving me insane!
@ScotCharts
@ScotCharts Ай бұрын
Just returning to say I have worked it out....I had my kick in a simpler within a midi track, whereas you had your 3 kick samples within a drum rack which allows for exportation of a chain :) Thanks again for the vid Marcin!

@@m.t-thoughts8919 I mean, what's there to get? Both Trash 2 by iZotope and DriveShaper by Cableguys allow for multiband processing, and that's it :D But if I remember well, Trash 2 allows to distort 4 different bands individually. Saturn 2 by FabFilter gives you up to 6 bands for such multiband distortion.

for the rumble export. did u just choose the full channel with the dry kick or without the dry kick ?

Hi! I exported the rumble only, without the dry kick. The "Reverb" chain was soloed during the export.

first thing first, another great tutorial, thanks for that :) I havent seen your trash 2 alternative plugin - video so my question might be covered there but for the moment i need to ask. if you add an audio ef. rack to your channel and make like 3 bands, the first for the lows, second for mids and third for highs and i put a different plugin chain in each or better say different kind of distortions to each chain, isnt that a multiband distortion then aswell? just the principle.. to achieve the trash 2 sound is a different thing. so if that would be the same principle is it in your opinion a smart decision to cut your rumble-chain into 3 bands with ableton EQ8 for example? like are there some problems which might couse some serious issues to the bassdrum as a whole? I`m often scared of making a multiband dist. this way by myself because maybe these plugins (like trash 2) are optimized to not ruin anything important due to the usage of a kinda cutting equalizer .. sorry for the length man
@MarcinRajski-

Using multiband processing with just Ableton effects could be done in the following way: make an Audio Effect Rack with 3 parallel processing chains, and on each chain, use the Multiband Dynamics effect with NO compression - use only the frequency split filters on the left. On each parallel processing chain, use the same settings for filters in the Multiband Dynamics, just solo different frequency ranges. That way you can achieve multiband processing, although I believe plugins like Trash 2 or FabFilter Saturn 2 have that multiband processing more optimized than my Multiband Dynamics approach in regards to the amount of phase shifts added for example :) Cheers

hi! great tutorial, how do you exported the reverb to a .wav file? bc when i move it to a MIDI track it only moves like an effect rack even when i soloed and dont let me export it, i hope u can help me :)

Hi! I don't fully understand your question, but in the video, I solo the "Reverb" processing chain, so only the reverb is audible when I play the MIDI clip. Then, I select the whole MIDI clip (as if I wanted too loop it in the arrangement view) and hit Ctrl + Shift + R (or Command + Shift + R) keys to export the track, as if I wanted to export a finished project :) Hope that helps. Cheers!

Not the same vibe, bro. Maybe ask Blutrot, he makes some of the sickest kicks in basically the same style as 6ejou and recently he posted some stories about how he did it, and it was a completely different workflow then what you are doing.

@@MarcinRajski- Yeah, I think so. I've sent him a mix of mine before and told him I couldn't afford paid feedback but asked if he could still help me out. He didn't seem super thrilled about it and was pretty harsh in his criticism, but he still gave me some very detailed advice that actually helped a lot. 😅 Honestly seems like a really cool guy, I think if you approach him nice and respectfully he'll probably respond. I'd love if you got some information out of him and could break it down in some hard industrial techno tutorials, your videos are great and he's one of the best producers in the genre imo. Perfect combo.

Do you remeber what he did in the story? I actually made my first acceptable hard Industrial kick the other day by layering different kicks and textures also using simpler to strecth the kick for the rumble instead of using reverb. Bludterror and Gostwork are some of my favorite hard Industrial producers too, toxic machinery are great as well. Thx man
