When I colour with my copics I use Sakura micron pens. These won’t smudge if you lay down the ink first before colouring. I always allow a period for them to dry too. They are great to use on papers like Bristol board and card-stock.

Deleter has different formulas for their dipping inks. Each formula specializes in different things. Lavender town was using the third version. If you want to use alcohol markers you want to use the 4th version because it is alcohol proof.

@winterhare1251

Someone has likely already said this, but another thing that can cause copics to smudge is not waiting long enough for your inks to dry. Waiting thirty minutes to an hour for them to dry will usually do the trick.

A quick tip: I learned in an art book that when you're inking a comic or manga page, it's easier to beginning in the top left corner if you're right handed, and the top right for left handed people. If this helps, then, I'm glad to be here

Just some advice when it comes to Copics. I found that it's better to use a coloured pencil for your sketches and then you can lay down a Micron fine liner for the inking if you're planning to use Copics. Inking alone with an ink pot is fine for comics with no colour. :) For example, I traditionally drew Astolfo from the Fate series a few months ago. I used a pink erasable pencil, a pink Micron fine liner, and then I coloured with my Copics. Nothing bled because I looked into what works well with Copics. I've also used black and it has smudged on me before, so it's a lesson learned for both of us. lol Anyway, I love your style and I always watch your videos! Keep up the good work! :D

I love that KZbin artists don’t cut out mistakes or just scrap a project when it doesn’t go exactly as planned. Because bad things do happen, and it’s setting a great example to all of the beginner artists who watch these people that they look up to show that it’s okay for things to not be perfect every time. You do your best with what you have and if you don’t like it then you learn from it

But a lot of Deleter’s other inks are alcohol proof, more popularly the Black 4. You should always check the type of ink, especially whether or not its water proof or alcohol proof! (о´∀`о)

Just a little thing that annoyed me kinda, ink and pencils can smudge when youre wrtiting and thats a very valid excuse to be careful if youre left handed, when WRITING, when drawing right AND left handed people have to be careful because you dont have to start drawing from the left going over to the right, once again idk i just kinda got bothered and btw i am left handed and use pens and alot of smearable stuff so dont think im just being insensitive Its litterally such a small thing, im so annoying Oh wow, thanks so much for all the likes!

With writing you wont smug anything if you write the "correct way"(thats what my teacher called it). if you write this way the only part of your hand that touches the paper is the lower palm/wrist area. This will make it nearly impossible to smug writting.

Ik this video is old but just some advice for anyone who might want to try using ink similar to the one Lavender is using. Ink from left to right if right handed and right to left if left handed because it means that your hand wont be resting in your linework and lessen the chance of it smudging. It might seem weird at first but it becomes intuitive after a while :)

@@strangerthanfiction4757 it should have. Also copic fineliners, micron pens and any other pens that said water proof/alcohol marker proof might work just as well

I too felt the despair. I thought of commenting to do the colouring first and a second later the video moved to that part, haha. I really enjoy watching your videos, more art tips to keep in mind. Thanks Hayley :D Your hard work is appreciated! 🦄💜

This was a nice video! Copics typically are pretty high quality. So I'm not surprised they work really well. Not sure about the white ink though. I'm always looking for one opaque enough but I never find it >-< It always left really bad marks and shows the ink underneath which is entirely against the point of using one to begin with. Guess I'll stick to paint or white out.
@brother951

i think the white ink was supposed to be like that, cause it looked like that on the packaging as well! if you want opaque white ink try either the water-based white sharpie or the sakura gelly roll

nyosmia I guess, but it really doesn't look too good when on the black ink in the end. I ran into the problem at least multiple times and I wither had to use white paint or white out. Thanks for the recommendation though. Might just go with that.
