Nice work. One of my 7.3s had an issue and come to find out the IPR was unplugged.

Awesome man! I know that wasn’t the most fun you’ve ever had but great job!

First thing I did when I bought mine was pull the intake and wiring harness out, clean the valley, replace pedestal o rings, new turbo and replaced the entire wiring harness as everything was delaminated and oil soaked.. Then learned that it idled rough for not using factory ipr and icp. Replaced those with OEM.. still idled rough.. found a grommet stuck inside the ipr and the plug wasn't plugging in all the way.. always something simple

Look at the passenger side injector/glow plug connector (under the heater hose). Heat transfer to insulated wires deteriorate. Replace connector. Love my 02 7.3 psd.

Great video lesson in the importance of wiring inspection on these powerstrokes. That was some excellent wiring loom wrap post repair to prevent future problems. How did you decide on which generation of powerstroke for his truck? Very interesting to hear that diagnosis is easier 6.0 and onwards, if I understood you correctly. Do you work on 6.4’s or do you ban them from your shop like Bill Hewitt did? Your son is lucky to have a Dad like you!

@@pakkelly I do work on 6.4s but i do try to avoid major motor work, they are just to problematic and the reason bill refused them is you fix one thing and another goes wrong a week later and the customer automatically thinks it’s your fault regardless. Thanks for the compliment and following us.

I have an 02 SD manual myself. Vibration over the years can cause some wire/insulation issues for sure.

That's alot of blow by on that thing
@AutomedicGarage3 ай бұрын
@@marksrepairj623 naw, it’s average. All diesels have blow by. Nothing extreme about that.
@kevindunn1753 ай бұрын
@@AutomedicGarage agreed! I have an early 2003 6.0 does the same thing alittle more than the 7.3 in the video but doesn’t blow the oil cap off the fill tube. I think I might a have a stuck ring.
@marksrepairj6233 ай бұрын
Just saying unloaded and loaded blow by is different. International spec is 7in-hg full load . In video it seemed like alot with no load on it that's all. Great video tho
@AutomedicGarage3 ай бұрын
@@marksrepairj623 that’s also coming from the CCV not the oil fill much smaller passage creating more velocity which makes it look like more. That truck isn’t consuming oil between changes

They could have put the idm anywhere in the truck Eeeehhh let’s put it under the fender. It will be alright 😂
@AutomedicGarage3 ай бұрын
@@stevenbauman3501 better than where it was in the OBS trucks where they would get water in them. At least behind the fender is not exposed to heat like a 6.0 FICM
