7.3L Godzilla Swap Continental + Crown Vic Subframe - 1965 Bagged Lincoln Ep. 2

Жыл бұрын

We're really tearing up this slammed 1965 Lincoln Continental this week! Last time this bagged slab was on the channel, you saw us start to prep the car for our massive 7.3L Ford Godzilla motor swap. Well this week we're ripping into the engine bay to try and make it all fit! Even though the front of these Continentals have a ton of room, these Godzilla motors are EXTREMELY tall, and will be peeking out from our hood if we used the original crossmember in this Lincoln. So we're deciding to go the route that many old Ford truck lovers take when it comes to their suspension and swap the entire front of this Continental out for a Crown Vic subframe! Unfortunately for us, we'll be sacrificing a perfectly running Crown Vic to do so. But with one final burnout to say goodbuy, we part the subframe from the Vic and sacrifice it to our motor swap slab! It's not as easy as just bolting it in though. So we brought in our old pal Donny to help us fabricate a custom frame to mash our new front end with our old Continental!
With the new subframe installed we knocked out a huge step in this build, but there's still a very long road until this car is a bagged beast! So make sure to subscribe and turn the notificaitons on so you don't miss a single episode of this build!

Fella at the end is absolutely correct - the weak points currently are where your new frame ties into the torque boxes AND the lack of support between the inner fender lip and the frame. I would section the torque box and run the rectangular tubing through it and ideally, extend it all the way to the rear torque boxes. For the fender supports, I would run square tubing from the outside of the frame rail up to support the fender. That way, you can close off the rest of the inner fender area with beauty panels that extend all the way down to the frame rails, with the top of the frame rail exposed. Aesthetically, this is probably the most pleasing way to finish off the engine compartment. Great build guys!

Shiz, dudes, I’m on this build! My older bro had a 65 with red interior he bought from an estate in the 70’s. I think that’s one he should’ve kept, it was like driving a waterbed but cool af. I thought the old 430 was big, but the godzilla is huge.

Love this swap. I've done a bunch of Coyote swaps but looking forward to a godzilla swap someday. Can't go wrong with gusseting and strengthening the frame. Biggest weak point will be where new section meets existing. Tying up to where the fenders mount is good idea plus gives you structure to fab some engine bay skirts. Keep up the good work!

Awesome! I crown vic swapped my 56 f100, share the air ride info when it comes in! what are you guys going to use to control the Variable Assist Power Steering solenoid? I used a PWM module so I can control it as i like... I used my factory inner fenders, but trimmed them up nice and rolled the edges, not sure if you can do the same...
