Overachieving Hurricane Beryl will weaken over the Yucatan today, but emerge into the western Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Conditions favor re-strengthening and possibly some rapid intensification as Beryl approaches the Texas coastline on Monday morning. I live in Harlingen tx about 15 miles north of Brownsville. In my 73 years I've learned how unpredictable hurricanes are once in the Gulf. They will fool you at the last moment. One of the worst cat 5 hurricanes Alan was 200+ came directly at us for days but then basically stopped at the mouth of the Rio grande river then slid up a few miles near Port Mansfield and went in This is the Rio Grande valley made up of about 25 cities and towns. It would have devastated this place.

@@luckyboots2528 yes I remember when Harvey came and we had a small break where the rain stopped and it receded enough to drive store. My friend took me to get more water, and other things we needed. And I ended up having an anxiety attack on the aisle of the store.

The last few storms have been nearly spot on. I'm not saying that will happen this time, but last go round that came near to where I was in louisiana they were off by about 10 miles. Every storm it seems like they get more and more accurate. Thinking about everyone back home along with everyone in the caribbean and Mexico that have already been hit.
