Awesome! Looks like a fun little pistol. It's good you can keep it fed.

found you on thereloadersnetwork, and subbed. Been thinking about buying one of the pps43 "pistols" and paying the tax stamp to return it to the original "stocked" condition. Cool to see you reloading this old milsurp cartridge.

I have looked at those as well. It would be awesome to return one to original condition. The velocities should be quit a bit faster, that would be a great project.

Amazed you can find your brass. Those pistols usually throw it quite a ways.

Yes they do. I can usually find most but not all. There may be a few in low Earth orbit.

Thanks for the shout out, pretty cool! I found the same thing you did with the 90gr data in the Hornady book. My M57 and Romanian Tokarevs both needed a shorter OAL. Mine touch at 1.305" so I load them to 1.295" same as you found. That's .010 off the lands. Possible reason you haven't had seating problems with the Lee die is you are reloading fired brass that's already blown out to the chamber. I tracked the problem down to narrow necks on new Starline brass causing too much seating force for the Lee die design. You can also get a 300 blackout decap pin/ball and run it in your FL sizer die. It fits. You're a better shot with your M57 than I am. Great video, thanks for posting. Im still trying to get Hornady to make a die set. PS your press looks naked without one of my ttfpowderstands ;-)

You are the Tokarev master. I could not have ever attempted loading this round without your video's. I do need one of your stands, I was thinking about that during this video. Thanks again and happy reloading.

Haven't done any chrono, but my research indicates commercial rounds are going about 1400 fps. Combloc ammo (Yugoslavia) ammo seems to be loaded to 1500 fps. The Czechoslovakia ammo (CZ 52) seems to be loaded to 1600 fps. So, your caution about thinking that the CZ 52 might be stronger than your Yugoslavian TT is valid to my thinking. But it looks like you also have a lot of room for finding the load you want.

I did a follow up video to this and found a good load with 14 grains of 296 at 1400 fps. I also have 2 other videos with chrono results for PPU, Wolf, S&B, and Romanian surplus. The S&B was the hottest, but I thing it was around 1450 fps. Thank you for the comment, I really appreciate it.

I can't recall exact data but my hornady manual has data for the xtps up to 1700 fps and the cz52 has an extremely thin weak point on the wall on the bottom of the chamber if I remember right I can't recall the guys name but a man did a much of tests overloading cz52s and m57s I know he spit something like 10-12 cz barrels but couldn't destroy the m57

Cool gun and caliber, always wanted one. I think “Logcabinlooms” has some reloading videos on his channel for that cartridge and gun.

Think you can get emergency round downstream in an AK? Google refused AK. Entry. Kept changing to Ellen..Think cases get stuck but will fire?

The CZ 52 was a weak action, prone to damage from battering. Since the Hornady loads are designed to avoid blowing it up, they should be safe in the much stronger Tokarev pistol.
@kyfirearms

Most people would say the CZ is stronger for some reason, but a lot of people tell me that the Tok action is much stronger. After having both, I would agree that the Tok is the stonger action. Thanks for the comment.

Very nice 7.62 tokarev handloads generally 7.62 ×25 s&b ammunition velocity is 1500 to 1550 FPS why your handloads was slower than factory loads.

Yeah, I started low. I have worked the load up to normal Tokarev velocity. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@kyfirearms how many grains to achieve normal 1,500 to 1,550 with the .309 90 grain XTP?

I believe the Tokarev has a thicker chamber than the vz. 52. This would make the chamber stronger at least. I have a Tokarev (M57) and a vz. 52. In any case I agree it's not a good idea to run these guns up to the maximum load. The guns are over 50 years old and made in communist countries. The vz. 52 guns are known to have inferior metal on the rollers and firing pin. Thankfully there is a company in Indiana that makes high quality replacement rollers, extractors, and firing pins.

My brother has the CZ-52 in 7.62 x 25, back in the day when none was available he made his own brass from once fired .223 cases. It's a pretty easy conversion www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=42003.0 I've been casting all his bullets for the pistol in recent years as he like shooting cast lead most of the time.

Wow, thats awesome. I have read about converting 223 to Tokarev, but wasn't sure how well it would work. Thanks for watching and commenting.
