Have a 7.62 upper from you guys like 6 years ago. Very accurate, and extremely reliable too. Enhanced firing pin. Never any problems.. Ever. Prolly lil over 12k rounds. Love it. Barely still in good shape/headspace and throat, rifling all good and only steel case has been through it.

Bear Creek is one of my favorite companies. Every upper I have bought has worked perfectly, albeit on the 7.62x39mm it would not fire steel case hard primer ammo, but after I put a .003" longer enhanced firing pin and a stronger hammer spring, it is firing 7.62x39 flawlessly. As a matter of fact, it is now so reliable that it is my favorite ammo caliber. The point to this story is that at very low cost of about $25 for the enhanced firing pin and stronger hammer spring (which was kind of a challenge to put in) the Bear Creek 7.62x39 upper works flawlessly and fires any ammo (Tula, Wolf, other) that I put in it. Thanks BCA!

You should mention, for those who are not familiar with this subject, that the reason for the increasing curve of the magazine is due to the taper of the cartridge case itself. With the 7.62 round having more taper than the 5.56 round.

Your 7.62X39, 1-in-8 twist, heavy barrel upper/barrel assembly has been a dream for me. I just went shooting with a friend who brought his precision Henry single-shot 30-30. The results were stunning. Once he was sighted in his 30-30, he would consistently hit 1" groups with open iron sights. He then picked up my "AR-47" (with a Sig Romeo red dot) and shot the same precision. A little bit of apples to oranges comparison, but also note that he was familiar with his Henry...he had never shot or even handled my AR-47 and I think that still says something about both the shootability and the precision of my BCA AR-47. Maranatha!

Love the upper. I've got the 16" side-charging handle 7.62x39 upper and I've only added an enhanced firing pin. Never had a single misfire, FTF, FTE, or any issue whatsoever out of about 500 rounds so far. The accuracy is also ridiculous and very competitive. The plug (in the place where the "wings" would be) is fantastic for keeping gas out of my face when I'm running my Dead Air suppressor. No joke this upper on my standard AR-15 lower (with enhanced firing pin) has reliability and accuracy that very well matches my Spike's Tactical Compressor ($3200 AR-15 with suppressor). I've only used Duramags with this upper and it's flawless. I am very impressed with this upper for the price. I don't even think about wanting to own an AK anymore. One note of improvement: the side charging screw. Comes loose quite easily. I red-loctited it in (semi-permanent) and it's never come loose since. I can't take out the BCG all the way, but can easily clean 90% of the inside of my AR-15 as is. 10/10 product and I'm proud to say I own this product from a company people would call "budget-brand". I call it quality with a humble price tag.

@@blakealvarez3199 High heat and love. Yea I originally used Blue loctite and it always came loose. Red works great. You have to carefully apply heat to it preferably with a heating tool that you can set the temperature for. You really do not need to remove it often. You can clean almost all of the upper without removing the BCG.

Stacked tolerances is the issue that most are having with the 7.62x39 In an AR-15. If you have a mil spec firing pin and a 3.5lb drop in trigger you will most likely start experiencing light primer strikes. The hammer spring in those are fine for US made brass case ammo for two reasons.The primers in US brass case ammo are set in flush and are softer, whereas the foreign made ammo has harder primers AND are set into the case significantly deeper requiring a longer firing pin throw and a slightly stronger hammer spring then comes with those sweet drop in triggers because of the limited space available in the outer assembly of the drop in triggers that make drop in triggers possible. These triggers were made for the 5.56 with the flush and softer primers for which they work flawlessly with. The AR-15 mags will not hold 30 rounds if you're doing that you are creating your own problems. The case of a 7.65x39 is not only a slightly larger diameter but it has a more severe taper to it. When the rounds are feeding in an AR mag all you will have touching is the bottom edge of the rimless case and leaving the bullet end of the cartridge flopping all over the place randomly. This may not be a big issue with 3 or 4 rounds but 30 creates a greater stacked tolerance and big problems feeding in some mags that are,...shall we say not quite mil spec. You can see this tolerance stacking issue clearly with your own eyes simply by laying out 30 rounds of 7.62x39 on your cleaning mat just like they would be stacked in your mag. Now stack them with the sides of the cases touching and you will see that an AK mag is shaped exactly to that curvature. If you're just fooling around you can get a few rounds in a standard 5.56 mag yes. Reliability will not be up to home defense or battle standards though. In other words, buy the correct mags if your life depends on it. Otherwise at the range just go have fun and experiment. That's after all how I learned this stuff too. 👍

Tried the pin fix first and it has fired Tula, Wolf, Red Army Standard, Nosler, and Barnaul perfectly. Actually it works too good....I'm running low on ammo and prices and availability are even worse now. I use an Aero P lower with their standard trigger and it works fine. I do agree. If a Enhanced Firing Pin seems to be an answer then yes I think they should be a part of the AR47 upper when purchased. I love mine. ASR mags I used seem to be a problem. Used C-mags and no issue. Any brass I had no issues other than feeding issues with the ASR's. I now do not have issues firing any steel jacket ammo. Maybe it's was mags? Or that I needed to put rounds out of the rifle to break in?? Either way I will look into purchasing a Enhanced Firing Pin to ensure it will fire as needed. But do think I shouldn't have to upgrade a complete upper so it will work as needed. My only complaint I have.

I bought a 7.62x39 BCA upper about 5 years ago and it is a great piece of hardware. I threw a fairly cheap NCSTAR 1 - 8 power scope on it and it shoots perfect tight groups at 100 + yards. In fact... just about ALL of my uppers are from BCA. I even bought their AR10 complete 18" rifle a couple years ago and it is pretty nice. It had some feeding issues time to time but I haven't fed a ton of rounds through it. I think it just needs some more break in. Overall I am very impressed with BCA products. I bought my first upper from them chambered in 5.56 "BCA Brown Bear" and paired it with a New Frontier polymer complete lower receiver. I have since only went with aluminum lowers but the poly lower ran just fine. I use all sorts of mags but have become partial to the "Okay Industries" aluminum mags. They were at one time standard issue for military. They run great. Otherwise I use Hexmags and Pmags. I never did get a regular 5.56 mag to run my AR47 properly. Get the ASC aluminum 7.62 dedicated magazine for your 7.62 AR. You'll thank me. 😊

I purchased a 7.62 ar from yall and am impressed with it. Got the enhanced firing pin and no misfires. From my understanding, though, the curvature of the magazine is less so the diameter of the case and more the shape of the case. 7.62x39's case is slightly sloped as you go towards the bullet, which is why the curvature of the magazine is necessary (also why ak mags are curved). Obviously it will need to be longer due to the increased diameter though

Bought a 16 inch side charge 7.62 in December for a AR build with a 80% lower. After research, installed the extra power spring on the trigger. After the build, ran 80 rounds of Tula through it. 61 fired, 19 did not. Light primer strikes. Installed the Black River Arms enhanced pin and proceeded to blast the 19 rounds and another 110 rounds of Tula. The spring did nothing, the enhanced pin did the trick. BCA should build them with the enhanced pin from the get go. Runs great now. Use ASC 30 round mags and have had 0 feed issues. Only other issue I had with the upper is that the barrel nut came loose near the end of the 110 round run as the M-loc and sight on it began to spin to the right. Took the upper apart and found that there weren't enough shims used to properly torque it while maintaining guardrail screw alignment. Contacted Bear Creek and they sent me 3 shims which I installed and the nut torqued properly with the screw holes lined up. Not impressed with the quality control, but pleased with the apology and the speedy shipment of shims. First class company. Liked my upper so much that I talked a friend into getting a .223 Wylde from BCA, although he got a rear charge. Thank you BCA.

i thought the 7.62 mags are curved more to accommodate the more severe taper of the round from the base to the bottleneck. the 556 is basically straight from the base to the bottleneck so the mags do not curve much. thanks for the video, i would love to have an 7.62x39 ar.

I bought a x39 18" upper from a different company without the BCG & charging handle a year or so ago. I got a complete rifle lower from Joe Bob Outfitters which came with a ridiculously heavy trigger. Then I sourced a x39 BCG with an enhanced firing pin. The rifle came together under $400 not counting scope. It was very reliable but with that trigger no fun and I wasn't accurate. I went through a few lighter triggers, from 3 lbs to 4.5 lbs and different buffer weights. I ended up with a H-buffer and PSA EPT mil weight trigger. This is a great setup. I may not need the H buffer but it all came together reliably. I used both ASC and C-product 20 round magazines. I had one problem with the ASC mag where the follower jammed sideways. Never had a problem with the 20 round C-Product mags. I would call this an accurate setup, but I am only shooting clays and steel up to 100 yards. More accurate than my Zastava m70 AK but that is only running iron sights so not apples to apples. I'm using Tula, Red Army and Wolf. I have some Belom brass but am waiting until I have 100 yds and some paper to test it.

The enhanced firing pin isnt needed because of "harder" primers. The pin is needed because ammo like Tulammo set the primers deeper and you need the longer pin to reach deeper. I have had your 7.62x39 upper since 2016 and fired brass case, wolf and red army with no issue. Now when I fired tulammo without the EFP it received light primer strikes. Start offering the EFP with your uppers

If you compare a Russian mil spec 7.62x39 Berdan primer to a 5.56 Boxer primer (or just about any US made rifle cartridge primer) you will see that the 7.62x39 primer sits a little deeper below the surface of the rim. This is why a slightly longer firing pin tip helps set off the primer. It's actually debatable if the actual hardness of the Berdan primers is even a factor. If it truly was a factor, it would seem that a stronger hammer spring as well as an enhanced pin would be necessary.
@NismoXero
@NismoXero Жыл бұрын
I am of this belief. Before I got an advanced firing pin I could tell which rounds would get a light strike just by feeling how deep the primers were set with about a 90% accuracy. Since upgrading to the advanced firing pin I've only had one light strike and that primer was the deepest set I've ever seen. Still went bang on the 2nd try.
@MacCready_
@MacCready_ Жыл бұрын
@@NismoXero I believe it. Since I made that post above, I have installed a trigger with a very light 2.5 lb hammer spring. With the longer firing pin, it still sets off Russian steel x39 ammo with no problems.

My BCA 762 upper is my main rig at the moment and I love it. I'm using the cheapest steel case stuff I can find and had a ton of LPS with the stock pin, but I swapped it out for the enhanced pin and hammer spring and haven't had a problem since. C Product mags seem to feed the best for me, got some ASC's too and Duramag makes a half decent 762 AR mag too. Now if someone *cough cough* could make a slick nickel boron BCG for 762 *cough cough* that would be cool. :)

I've heard about their fast delivery, great products and certainly great value from researching. I ordered a complete upper on the 10th of Jan and it still hasn't shipped out, few days away from two weeks now. I ordered a stock and buffer tube kit the same day from a place called Moriarti Armaments and once I ordered it, they sent me an email conformation stating this "Due to unprecedented demand and enhanced safety protocols, please allow 4-6 weeks for your order to process and ship" so with hearing about BCA having fast delivery I thought to myself, I'm gonna have all the stuff I need and be without a stock and buffer tube assembly, so I ordered another one from a place that sent me some parts I ordered a couple days after I ordered and that showed up, but guess what, that stock and buffer tube kit from Moriarti Armaments came today Jan 21st. Haha well I guess I have some stocks and buffer tube kits for future builds.

I think the curve on the 7.62x39 magazines is more to do with how the cartridge tapers, than it is with it's width/diameter. Just look at .308 Win mags, they aren't as curved as 7.62x39 mags. But very good info nonetheless.

I use an enhanced firing pin in all my Ar’s they work great in 5.56/.223 /.300blk when shooting the doo doo steel cased. All my AR’s have drop in triggers like the rise 140/434’s which are known for LPS with brass case and worse with steel. I don’t get pierced primers or anything weird. They work and I don’t have change springs or modify the springs to get them to work 100% of the time. Im still looking for an enhanced FP for the .308 bcg.

After all the trouble I had with 762 mags, I said screw it. I went out and bought the 'multimag' instead. Rounds on the 762 dedicated would constantly jam coming out of the mag, round was catching on the front lip. Had to file the space wider on every mag I had. Saw a vid on the multimag and decided , yeah its a few bucks more but lets see what happens. Worked prefect, bought 4 more. Might only hold 28 rounds instead of 30, bit I think I can suffer through it. I still have my other repaired mags, they work perfectly now in my Grendel as well. As to the trigger spring, decided not to even mess with it, put an adjustable drop in instead. Zero issues. Firing pin? Bought a BCG with one already in it.

Bought two mags, loved them so much and they worked so well I bought five more the day after I first used them and have been a believer since. Have run thousands of rounds through the Uni-Mags and never once had a FTF. With ASC I have had about a 10-30% FTF rate per mag. Cannot speak to c products personally but everyone says they're great. Edit: as a note the only reason I dont have the c products stuff is it was all out of stock when i got my upper and my only option was to find another mag that would work.
