Very good tutorial! Can I ask you about your weight distribution on impact; it looks as if you are slightly light on the back foot?

Thanks for the feedback. Looks can be deceptive - even more so through the lens of the camera. What is the specific question on weight distribution?
@LW07UTB2 ай бұрын
@@TAKEMUSUAIKIDO Thank you very much for responding. The question was; at the end of the impact / hit and as you drop your weight, is your weight 50/50 % on the front and the back foot, or is it more like 80% on the front foot?
@TAKEMUSUAIKIDO2 ай бұрын
@@LW07UTB speaking ideally, and really depending on the form and intention within the form. The weight for example in the 1st Suburi (as a basic kihon practice) - would be aiming for 50/50 weight distribution in the feet, front and back, after the cut. The practice can be seen as taking all the weight to the back leg during the raise (99-100%) and then into an engaged 50/50% weighting for the cut - then either continuing to the next cut or alternatively returning to a neutral evenly weighted kamae. This is further explained in the video. HOWEVER, When things go fast and fluid, these ideals are also fluid. Hope this helps and please feel free to discuss further.

Un peu de raideur dans les bras à mon goût on vois le sabre vibrer à la fin de la coupe ce qui montre une certaine te qu'on sur le haut du corps et empêche une coupe franche.
@yogarate253 ай бұрын
Precisamente el vibrar del bokken no lo hacen los brazos,sino que es la expresión del centro,el centro y la espada conectada al centro hace que vibre al final. Como explica Sensei Lewis no tiene nada que ver con el trabajo de shinken, que es diferente...

why the silly "bounce" at the end of the cut/ I see so many iwama people doing this, I bears no relation to decent body mechanics and Saito sensei certainly never did when I was living at iwama.

That bounce is obviously a trained technique. This is not the same as bouncing at the end of a swing due to the lack of control. I believe they resemble to absorbtion of vibration going through the bokketo when hitting a hard object, but I dont practice Iwama Style so I cant be sure.
