I usually don't make such comments about people, but there's something about you that screams that you are a healthy individual on a right life path. I have just discovered your channel and I really envy the fact that you were dedicated enough to read so much. Very inspirational. Hope this will make me make some new healthy and good habits. My friend, I can't believe you are talking about ken wilber. I used to read his work years ago in college when I was supposed to be studying but I couldn't help myself, it was fascinating stuff and I will never forget wilbers works! It's the first time hearing about his stuff in KZbin! I will revisit it and definitely check out radical honesty. Sounds most interesting and supports my life theory! Good on you for doing this.

I don't really see why I should be good at the "job" I somehow got into..... and not follow my passion. I mean there's no logic to it... I can chose my job but not my passion... I get what the book is saying if I'm not able to make enough money from my passion... Why would I be good or even the best at a job I'm not sure I like? I can't be great at the job because to be great you have to make a lot of mistakes, you have to go through a lot of things. What can help you on that difficult journey is not "motivation" but having a passion for what you do.

If you are new to reading and looking for books, also watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJq1qaenqpZ0e6c Note his piece of advice that data don't start with done crazy specialized 900 page book that may turn you off. I am in that boat but made the mistake of picking up Gödel Escher Bach. It's dense. It's taken me a month to make it thru dedicating an hour a night to it ( sometimes more) . The book is interesting and has done insights. But the AI parts are out dated and I feel the point could have been made in less than the 750 pages that feel like a text book. 3 out of 5 stars for me.

Pretty cool list! Thanks for another great video! Although, since you're understanding so well how much different perspectives and disciplines can be incredibly powerful to digest as an individual, I'm very surprised of one thing : do you realize that your list is from 7 white males? There is something very rewarding, as you know, in life to get curious about what happens in realms totally different from ours. By only reading white males, one gets stuck in yet another echo chamber. Maybe one of your next way to expand your world view, as you enjoy it so much, would be to purposefully read way more by women and people of colour. Most people I know who did (myself included) were mind-blown by how much it changed them for the better.

@@erickmachuca3563it’s the truth! The Holy Bible is a life manual. You personally might not want to follow it, but it doesn’t change the fact that it is a life manual. It teaches us how to live a better life. There is a lot of wisdom to be gained from reading the Holy Bible. There are a lot of teachings that when applied, one will have a better life. Many, many, many life coaches get their materials from the teachings of the Holy Bible and pass it off as their self-improvement tactics and strategies. Trust me, if you want more wisdom, better understanding of life, love, work ethic, integrity, honesty, ways to improve your character etc., and/or have better understanding of spiritual life, the best book is the Holy Bible.

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23. Jesus Christ is the only way, seek Him while He may be found, before it’s too late, tomorrow is never promised.

I agree 100%. Without God’s wisdom you will read yourself to hell. This guy is seeking all this knowledge thinking he has gotten the trick to like. Well Jesus is the only way my friend. I’m a reader also but I almost read and read until I lost in ideologies. From evolution to finance. Pay attention to what you read. The first book on your list should be the “Bible”. Some other authors/books I have found interesting were Ludwig Von Mises, Thomas Sowell, Henry Hazlitt, Yuri Bezmenov, and last but not least you gotta read the Bible, at minimum (Matthew, Luke, John, Acts, and Proverbs). @@ivancaisin795 The point is that it is ironic that he is saying that reading has changed his perspective but he still only reads books by male authors. Doesn’t make sense.

How do you know he only reads books by male authors? And rather than just complain about him not including books by female authors on his list, why not add something constructive and give us a list of books by women that you consider life changing?
@shirtstealer864 жыл бұрын
@@rvantong You look up the 7 books he has listed and see who wrote them. All men. Pointing this out is constructive criticism- now people hopefully will think about this in other situations as well. Why is it that men tend to choose books/art/music/etc created mainly by other men?
@rvantong4 жыл бұрын
@@shirtstealer86 He also mentions he has read over 250 books over the few years. These are only 7 of them. That doesn't mean every other book has read was also by men, just that these connected with him most. Just saying "Why no women?" isn't constructive. It's shallow. If you think there's a gap in his reading, why don't you suggest some similar books that were written by women, or offer your own list of books written by women that you think are life changing? Maybe books written by men simply connect better with men, because they share a common psychology. I don't think this guy set out to exclude women from his list.
