They really aren't even friends. One is one of the most accomplished and revered heroes in the history of the world, the First knight of the God of War, a slayer of immortals wielding the sacred lightning of the Lord of Light. The other is the city's professional executioner who seems to have decided his favourite way of doing it is cannibalism and business is so good he's become a thousand pounds. The only reason Ornstein is even there is that he literally isn't and is just an illusion Gwyndolin conjured up to shore up the inadequate defences represented by an obese cannibal with a giant club.

I love how when you defeat Asterius, sometimes Theseus will say "That was my friend!" or just be genuinely pained to see him die. Even if Zagreus accuses him of basically using the Minotaur as a glorified slave, they both insist it's just a cherished friendship or brotherhood. It's honestly heartwarming stuff. Also, personal headcanon is that Theseus knows exactly who Zagreus is, what he's about and why they repeatedly fight, but insists on calling him a blackguard, daemon and all sorts of other nasty insults for the sole reason of hyping up the crowd. In short - he's a performer putting on a show, not a pompous buffoon.

@@bubbelwolfeh6001 what about Arkham? The guy cowers on the roof and sends infinite minions at one point. Best way to get rid of them is to use your devil burst, but that leaves you without devil trigger. Absolute pain when Arkham finally drops down to help them.

Quropeco from the Monster Hunter series also does something similar. It is able to mimic the roar of any monster in the game, which it will use to summon another monster in a hunt (usually a Deviljho, which, let me point out, is nicknamed “The World Eater”)

In Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time, you fight Twinrova, a pair of Geurodo witches in with they try to either freeze you or burn you. There's also Twinmold from Majora's Mask in which you fight 2 giant snakes at the same time.

The Blade Bearer and Cannoneer from Code Vein, they are extremely effective at fighting as a team the former fights with a rapier and ice attacks while the latter hangs back and uses fire. And when you fight them again in the depths whoever you defeat first has their power absorbed by their partner who also gets their health bar replenished.

Wait until you see Asterius and Thesius on Extreme Measures. The bull gets a set of Golden Platemail armor and Thesius gets a golden mechanical chariot that shoots artillery. It really takes the unfair advantage up another level.

oh, i just remembered a similar group in FF6, in the "Cyan's dream" dungeon. THEY have a nasty triple attack that's certain to turn one of your characters to stone! fortunately, you can counter it by equipping anti-Stone accessories, IF you know it's coming.

In a hat in time, the conductor and she grooves. In world two, you can only fight one of them. However, there is a death wish challenge where you have to fight both of them at once. Their attacks are easy to dodge in their own, but are almost impossible to dodge when combined

I’d say Mimic Squadron from the Alicorn DLC in Ace Combat 7 fits here. The twins are mini bosses sent to kill you, which is fitting since it usually takes hundreds of planes to kill you normally, and they can’t even do that. And if it wasn’t enough, there’s guidance drones trying to kill you with a massive f*ck off rail cannon using gps guidance while you’re fighting Mimic Squadron.

There's going to be a a commenter edition this I know it and here's my contribution to it: Devil May Cry 3 Dante's Awakening the boss fight between the brothers Agni and Rudra Agni uses fire and Rudra uses wind you have to fight both at the same time and if you defeat either one they will pick up their fallen brother's weapon and will then integrate their brother's element into some of their attacks

Here's another one for a future list: Totem Pokemon from Pokémon Sun, Moon, and Ultra Variants Thereof. These Pokémon are enormous for their species and have an innate boost to their stats. But they also summon a roster of wild Pokémon to fight your sole Pokémon two on one. They might set up combos like with weather effects, heal the boss, or have attacks that are super effective against whatever Pokémon you brought to target the bosses weakness.

0:15 Hard disagree. In ALL good RPGs, you bring a PARTY to your deadly duel with your nemesis. That way they can help you with the beat down, and you all share is that delicious, delicious, EXP!! You should have brought a full party of five to your boss fight, THAT would have showed them!

they use identical attacks, so it mostly counts as the same, because they also have the same health bar

Code Vein had Cannoneer and Blade Bearer. Nioh had Yuki-onna and Oda Nobunaga. Bloodborne had the Shadow of Yharnam (ie two friends). Demon's Souls had the two Maneaters. Shekiro had the Headless Ape and his wife. I guess there is a sort of trend here.

I kind of love Hades attention to mythical detail because according to some versions of the myth Theseus a) was the first person to realise the Minotaur was trying to talk and heard it ask to die, b) insisted that the Minotaur fight him so it could die a heroes death and receive the honours that entails. In these telling the Minotaur actually managed one completely clear sample of human speech thanking Theseus. Thus them both being on the same plain of the Underworld and even becoming friends is not only a cool boss battle but also thematically appropriate to the myths.

How about prince of persia the two thrones were after a secuence riding a horse you pull an enemy off road and immediately you discover he has a friend. Even the prince says it wasn't a good idea.
