Day 13: A detailed look at the state of Crotone would be nice, going from Serie A in 20/21 with a 20 goal a season striker (Simy) to Serie C by 22/23. Two relegations in a row, something surely has to be wrong at that club.

I understand the notion regarding Joao Felix being in the wrong club, but I'd argue that we saw him last season (when healthy) really starting to buy into Simeone's system of play. Given that Atletico will more than likely return to a 3-5-2 this year now that they have a replacement for Kieran Trippier, they are going to have the ball far more often, giving Joao more of the opportunities he needs.
@Luijbi

It doesn't matter what style they play anymore because they've been permanently labeled - they can dominate a team over two legs (cough ManU cough) and they'll still be shit on for closing up shop in the last 10 minutes, which is something that practically any team would do

I think part of Chelsea's issue with letting great players go is that they have so many good young players that it can be hard for the youngsters to separate themselves, and there's competition of nearly equal talent to you waiting to take your job if you hit bad form or get injured.

Many Chelsea players could be included in this category tbh. Ziyech, Pulisic, Werner, Havertz, Hudson Odoi. I don't know man but I always thought this guys were beasts esp Werner and Ziyech. Always waited for them to come good but it seems that won't happen since they are at the wrong club. Also think Hudson Odoi has a lot of potential and I wonder what would have happened if Lampard let him go to Bayern. Anyways different players thrive in different environments. That's just how it is with football.

I'd love a seven based on the recent women's Euros. Many of the big stars did not come out to play, it seems, and perhaps surprisingly (and England and Germany aside) a lot of the less well known players carried their teams. It was also a really interesting clash of managers, in my opinion the best manager often being the difference.

Timo Werner always had this reputation although scoring a good number of goals. He is a hard working striker doing all the right things without the ball but when he has it his decision making is subpar most of the time. Hence Stuttgart let him go for a relatively small amount of money back in the day. However, if he is a key member in a team that concentrates on counter attacking football he could be an absolute terrific player. Nagelsmann did just that as he knew Werner has the pace and an excellent work ethic. It resulted in the best season of his career so far. I see in him a player Diego Simone would love to have at Atlético Madrid. Werner‘s playing style suits them perfectly. Contrary, Chelsea and the German national team have to play with a lot of ball possession because the opponents tend to sit deep against them. That‘s exactly the environment Werner’s weakness come through.
@Oliver_T_03
@Oliver_T_03 2 жыл бұрын
What is brilliant about Werner? His pace, movement and what else? He has zero first touch, zero ball control, abysmal finishing, poor passing and can't beat a man to save his life. He has no function on the pitch unless playing on the counter. As brilliant as he may be at that, it also means he's limited, which means he isn't brilliant overall

Werner is in the wrong league, not just the wrong club. He can't cut it in the Prem. He's far better off playing against Bundesliga teams with really high lines and mediocre defences where he can run in behind and get one on one with the keeper. He lacks any sort of composure and will never be a good finisher. He's just good at running around like a headless chicken.

Tuchel had this problem ever since his time in Dortmund... they called it a luxury squad and in the end, at least half the players stood against him. in Paris, he had a even more luxurious squad, far more so than in Dortmund. one wonders, when he was sacked, all the players had already left, did they not know? did they not care? there was no goodbye for Tuchel, except for some who did it on social media like twitter. and a text like “Thank you very much for everything, mister. And good luck in the future.” doesn't really sounds like it's from the heart. so i expect, once Tuchel leaves Chelsea, that the players wont be too sad about it, and let's be realistic, with the teams he had and the results he got, i suspect the greenkeeper could get that much. not that i care about what happens to Chelsea, nope, couldn't care less, I just feel sorry for the players.
@PhillipMartinez09
@PhillipMartinez09 2 жыл бұрын
Tuchel is very tough as a manager. he's not really the likeable man manager type. so he's not for everybody. but there is a reason he is so successful. he's a great tactician and demands plenty form the players. which is why less hard working players usually don't thrive under him. plus he's style of football is for a very specific type of personality and player attribute. Kloop has done great at Liverpool because he gets the players he needs tactical and personality wise. Tuchel just now is getting the opportunity to sign the right players.

It has been a problem at Chelsea for some time. I'm hoping the new ownership can change our habit of burning through talented players but the early signs are more of the same.

I would have put Christian Pulisic in this list. He needs consistent playing time on a club that actually sees the superstar as, well, a superstar.

Pepe was sidelined because Fraudteta doesnt know how to use him, and also so they could overplay Saka and turn him into another English what if. The price tag always played a role, if he had been cheaper everyone would be ok with his output given his minutes...

Only in England can a man with 46 international caps, who was hailed as a hero one year earlier, be seen as a laughing stock by millions of fans twelve months later. It's frankly embarrassing - our fans are some of the least intelligent in the world, and I'm sick of it. They profess to love football, yet they know absolutely nothing about football.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could certainly benefit from a move. Young English players should probably avoid Man U and Chelsea if they want to reach their full potential and play internationally.

You're not wrong there, but in fairness to Chelsea, their academy has helped develop a very considerable number of young talent for many years. Then there's their loan system, which has its problems, sure, but it does allow those talented young players to play regularly and improve their game elsewhere, and then they either impress enough to earn a place in the first team, or catch the eye of other clubs willing to make a permanent move for them. It's not ideal to let so many talented young players leave, but at least they're getting some great development in the youth and loan systems and are able to find a club that suits them best. Some of them fare better than others, sure, but it surely benefits them more than a club like ManUnited.

@@TheNormalJuan Conor Gallagher will probably be the next promising young player that Chelsea ruins by not providing enough playing time.
@TheNormalJuan
@TheNormalJuan 2 жыл бұрын
@@ThreeRunHomer he's literally 22 years old. He's already made a great impression out on loan. Tuchel has insisted he wants to play him this season. But let's say he doesn't play that much this season. He'll have no trouble finding a different club next summer, and he'll be 23, with still plenty of time and opportunities to improve and progress, playing regularly and being important for a mid-table club in england pushing for european competition places. The only way his career will be ruined is if he himself doesn't show an interest in working hard, and he has proved already he's eager go work and earn his place.

The other day you made a video about worse transfer windows. How about transfer windows that were great, but not right-away (or a flop-to-success kinda thing). A high investment, low result within a season but that then goes on to work out pretty well later on. For example: RM winning nothing in 2009/10 when bringing in CR7, Benzema, Kaka, Xabi Alonso, etc.. but going on to win everything multiple times after that with the players brought in during that transfer window. Or PSG if they actually win UCL this year after last year's flop.
