There’s a thriving Middle-Eastern community in metro-Detroit that speaks Aramaic. We’re called the Chaldeans. Our families immigrated to the states from their villages in Baghdad, Iraq in the 1960s and 1970s. The Chaldean population in Michigan is now around 160,000.

Chaldean here! We are Eastern Catholics originally from Iraq where Aramaic is the native language of our people. Most of us are dispersed throughout the world due to the diaspora that terrorism, war, and religious persecution has inflicted on our people. I’m a first generation Chaldean American and I natively speak Aramaic amongst my family and community! There are several dialects today of the language but it is very much alive and spoken within our communities (Chaldeans, Assyrians, Syriacs) throughout the world and still today in most of our villages & cities in Northern Iraq. Fun fact: In Ethiopia one of the main languages is Amharic which I’ve heard is similar to Aramaic, Hebrew, and Arabic. Also the fact that Aramaic and Hebrew are similar to each other as well - our alphabet and numbers are very alike! Of course this is due to them being in the Semitic branch of languages. Just goes to show that we are all connected as humans through history somehow :)

I was in Syria in 2003… when the West was attacking the Middle East pretending there were weapons of mass destruction . I knew this was not true so as one person I decided it was best to show my support by visiting as a tourist. Having been to 57 countries to date, Syria is in my top three. It is a beautiful country full of culture , education and with the loveliest of people. Spent a month travelling around,while in Maloula in the monastery, the priest said the Lord’s Prayer in English, Arabic and Aramaic and asked if anyone wished to say in it in another language, so I was blessed to say the Lord’s Prayer in Irish Gaelic ….why oh why do terrorists including Government terrorist destroy that which is sacred and believe that the other does not matter. Why can we not celebrate our differences and recognise that we are not that different.

There are groups of Aramaic speakers all around the world called Assyrians. They're the indigenous people of Iraq and parts of Syria, Lebanon, Iran and Turkey. There are about 2-5 million of us left in the world, although the exact figure isn't know, but about half the population was wiped out through genocide in the early 1900s. There are almost half a million of them located around the U.S (predominantly Arizona, Illiniois and Michigan) and quite a few in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and more. It's a shame people don't know more about them, but fun fact Assyrians invented the wheel, the first civilisation, the first written book (The Epic of Gilgamesh), astrology, the 360 degree circle, the base 60 numerical system (60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute, etc.) and many forms of mathematics and so much more and they are barely recognised in todays society.

Its so interesting hearing Aramaic being spoken. I am Jewish and many of our prayers (including Kaddish, which is said very often as a sort of break between sections of prayer) is in Aramaic, and the Talmud, a commentary on the Mishnah (which is a commentary on the Torah), is all in Aramaic. I went to an Orthodox Jewish school from 3 years old to 8th grade, and in middle school I learned Aramaic liturgically in my Talmud class. I still now study Talmud 1 - 2 times a week with a friend of mine, and I always find it fascinating how I am using a language that is barely spoken anymore, and that the only people using it are a handful of Syrians and my people, the Jews. Actually, the Syrians are my people too, my family is from Aleppo and Cairo, but had to leave in the 50s because of Antisemitism.

@JohnTronto
@JohnTronto 2 жыл бұрын
@@evanwhite5494 John 10:30 means Jesus pbuh as Abdullah (servant of God) works for Allah, they are one in function. Just like a President who sent an ambassador, that ambassador is the mouth piece for the president they work as one for the same goals. Do not misunderstand and take the verse out of context. In the beginning of verse John 10:23 we read (in the context of 10:30) about Jesus pbbuh talking to the Jews. On verse John 10:28-30, talking about his followers as his sheep, he states: "...Neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father who gave them me, is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are One." These verses prove only that Jesus and God (Alaaha as called by Jesus in Aramaic) are one in that no man can pluck the sheep out of either's hand. It does not at all state that Jesus is God nor Jesus & God are equal. In fact the words of Jesus, " MY FATHER, WHO GAVE THEM ME IS GREATER THAN ALL...," in John 10:29 completely negates this claim, otherwise we are left with a contradiction just a sentence apart. Also let us look at verse John 17:20-22 "That the ALL may be made ONE. Like thou Father art in me, I in thee, that they may be ONE in us. I in them, they in me, that they may be perfect in ONE". In this verse, the same word ONE used, the Greek, HEN is used, not only to describe Jesus and the Father but to describe Jesus, the Father and eleven of the twelve disciples of Jesus. So here if that implies equality, we have a unique case of 13 Gods. But it doesnt. Of the verse in question, "I and the Father are One" in (John 10:30), we also need to take note of the verses following the 30th verse in the text. In those verses, the Jews accuse Jesus falsely of claiming to be God by these words. He however replies, proving their accusation wrong by their own text: "The Jews answered him saying,'For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy, and because that thou being a man, makest thyself a God '" (John 10:33). Jesus replies to this accusation saying: "Jesus answered them, 'Is it not written in your Law, "I said ye are gods. If He can call them gods, unto whom the word of God came, say ye of him whom the Father hath sanctified and sent into the world, "Thou blasphemeth," because I said I am the son of God?'" (John 10:34-36). Let us look at Acts 2:22 "O you men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a MAN approved of God among you..." Peter in the Book of Acts testifies about Jesus. Jesus thus even to his disciples, as to early Christians, not poisoned by Pauline doctrine, was a man, not a God. Indeed GOD IS NOT A MAN. Jesus pbuh was never Christian & he never taught Christianity with its trinity & salvation in crucifiction doctrines. Jesus pbuh taught exactly what Moses pbuh taught: course giving tzedakah (Hebrew) / sadaqah(Arabic) which means giving off your wealth to give charity for the poor. Those stated on some verses including these: Mark 10:17-21 _As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”_ _“WHY DO YOU CALL ME GOOD?” Jesus answered. “NO ONE IS GOOD-EXCEPT GOD __ALONE.You__ know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother."_ _“Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”_Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”_ Jesus pbuh was only a man chose by God, not God Himself as stated: Acts 2:22 _"Men of Israel, listen to this message: JESUS OF NAZARETH WAS A MAN CERTIFIED BY GOD to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know."_ And he never taught salvation doctrine. It is very clear that according Jesus's pbuh own words for his followers (only the lost sheep of Israel not the gentiles) to gain salvation is: Acknowledging that God is One, no one equal to Him. Only The One & Only True God is Good. Not Jesus pbuh nor anyone nor anything else. NO TRINITY, no one equal to God. Worship only Him. Then fulfill all the laws. NO NEED CRUCIFICTION. As for the gentiles, they all should follow the promised Parakletos: Mohammed pbuh.

I myself am Assyrian and I have a house in Sednaya which is only 25 minutes from Maaloula and it breaks my heart for what was done to this ancient town and its simple kind hearted people. The language is music to my ears as my paternal grandparents in addition to Assyrian (or Syriac) also speak Aramaic. Proud of my heritage and ancestors etc. Noting that this language is spoken by the locals regardless of their religion as it is part of their history and culture that they are proud of (not only Maaloula but three other small villages also around it).

Many of them have Seen Jesus in Person, and many of them have Time traveled with extraterrestrial beings, have been to other Dimensions, and many have Shown Future Worldly Events. The Most interesting Channel in the Universe. If You only hear what those people have to Say. There is Only One Guy that I didn't like his story; I think is fake, but All the Other people I believe, and you can tell they are pretty humble about it. From all the details they give; very Specific Details to their own experiences, one can tell they are telling the truth.

The saddest part for me is to remember so many people, outside Syria, saying: Assad was a tyrant, and thinking the "moderate rebels" were good, so easily you can influence people's opinion on things they don't even know, but Syria will thrive again, it's already healing and will be the perfect place in the middle east for the mix of cultures that has been since thousands of years.
