Ah perfect, a new video. I will make some food, get my robe, a 24 year old whisky and light a candle. Chill at 1am to watch this adventure for an hour. Just to relax before having a nice nap before having to get up early. The zen I need! So thank you for your videos. It makes a depression day end with cozy comfy '0 f given' relaxed state. I am rambling, because I'm tired. Let's sip, snack and watch.

Your moose hunt demonstrates a principal I’ve found to be true throughout my 71 years: The harder I push to make something happen the less likely it is. Stop pushing, relax, and there it is! The scenery on this trip was great. I can’t believe you caught the eagle that shamelessly assaulted you with a pike. And don’t you think for a minute that was an accident. If you had been a predator, would you have captured the eagle or been distracted by the pike? Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for another memorable trip. I had a great time. Your films just keep getting better. Sincerely, Dave Purkerson.

We just finished watching your latest video. It is a GREAT photographic journey and well narrated. The eagle dropping it's catch and the wolf sighting was quite a payoff. My son and I while snowshoeing in northern MN in 2006...sighted two wolves and we all stopped and sized up one another before they ran off into the woods. It was truly a fortunate moment and I recall saying how we might never experience that again...and we haven't. We always enjoy your videos as well as those of both you and Xander. So WELL DONE. Day 6, the paddle, the campsite and the view ... WOW! Just speechless at it's beauty. And then to see a Wolf during breakfast. I thought the fish drop was going to be my favorite moment (altough it was epic) Day 6 was perfect. I disagree with you about this trip not being thrilling. These kind of trips are what I'd die for, an Eagle sharing it's meal with you, catching the odd fish, breathtaking scenery, a Wolf encounter and the inner peace all of that brings .. to me, those are the most thrilling trips of all. Jon if you are soloing on a lake that large you should consider having some sort of spray skirt for your canoe. I was thinking if you flipped out there. I know you have to balance taking or not taking certain gear. You can also add ballast rock to help you track straighter and then dump it later.

I would love to see how you choose to store your food from the bears. As a child I grew up back country camping but the adults always took care of taking the barrels away from camp and storing them up in the trees. So I would love it if you would teach us a little about the safety and process involved in using the barrels and where you select to tie it up away from the bears and such. Your videos really inspire me to get back into these types of trips as they were the highlights of my year during my adolescence! And I love your storytelling and humour !
@LostLakes Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Hannah! 💚 I don't hang here in northern Ontario because hanging limbs are very hard (almost impossible) to find in the boreal forest and even the two-tree method is very difficult to pull off here. Thankfully bears are also very wild up here and rarely habituated to human presence so they generally wouldn't associate a human camping with a food source (a human camping is more likely to scare them off). There are no guarantees though and minimizing scents that would attract a bear in the first place is important. But in a busier park and/or where suitable horizonal branches exist where there are more hardwoods, it's definitely important to hang

I don't always comment on every new video you do, but they are always much appreciated. Especially the nighttime sky shots. As a younger man, I would walk away from the light of the campfire and just look at the stars. My friend and I always would ask each other, "Are we alone in this giant universe?". Sleep, and on to the next days adventure.

Fun to explore our wonderful planet but on those nights you realize we're not even scratching the surface of exploration. Much appreciated GB!

I loved this so much! Little bits of magic in everything you capture. Wolf was kind of ethereal. Happy for you, Jon. (PS I cried (quiet) happy tears the first (and only) time I saw a bull moose < last year at Glacier National Park. He was very gracious about allowing me to admire him. Thanks for your awesome videos!
