I get the comment on not wanting to pole up, but I'm not sure I agree with the logic on not putting a frame in front of doors. If you're trapped in a building and zombies are beating down the door, you're going to pile whatever you can in front of it to slow them down. Since we lack the ability to push a couch, or a desk, or a bookcase in front of the door, I think putting a frame in front of it is the next best thing. Sure, it's not something you want to do with every door you encounter, but if there's 5 or 10 zombies...I think it makes sense.
@yarndragon13802 жыл бұрын
I like your logic that putting a frame in a doorway is like pushing a couch up against a doorway. Never thought about it that way. But lets not forget that the main reason Glock stopped putting frames in doorways is because people started saying that he wasn't good enough to not use the frame trick.
@seanwarren93572 жыл бұрын
I agree on the premise of immersion... As for polling up, I don't see it as really a big deal because, again for immersion, you would just use ladders or rope to climb so it's just a placeholder to features that would exist otherwise.

@@yarndragon1380 And therein lies the real trick to being a great KZbinr, ignoring the annoying pricks in the comment section that just clutter up content by annoying creators to the point that they even remark on the stupid shit that manifests from the dregs. Great mini series, Glock. Just to weigh in, this is your game and you have a right to play it your way. I disagree with changing your play style, unless it's something you want to do as a personal choice. Never allow comments to change your style. I seen others do that and eventually the content turns into something unrecognizable and it often doesn't turn out for them how they thought it would. Remember, the reason many of us have been watching for years now is because we enjoy you and your play style. Just keep being you and doing your thing.

For me, it’s entertainment. I don’t have anything against the “realism” of poling or the frame trick. It’s a pacing issue. If it is done sparingly then the videos are still highly entertaining (primarily due to your personality and humor). But if it’s done regularly it slows down the pacing of the video and becomes monotonous. I think you have a pretty good balance at the moment.

I would be pretty excited to see the series again when Alpha 20 drops, with all the new pipe firearms. Idea: only use frames upgraded once, so there would be an inherent material and time cost that would help you decide if pulling up is worth it or not. So you probs wouldn’t do that to pull up the side of a bldg but you might do it to reach loot, and not picking the frames back up would feel less like cheating? And it’s more organic, case-by-case deciding as you go, not a b&w rule. I’d still do it to kill or protect yourself from bears etc though since there’s no mechanic in the game to move things like to barricade a door as you would irl. But just a thought. To be honest, Nerd Polling up like 40 blocks to the main loot of a POI feels about as cheap as the zombies being able to break through refined, fortified steel blocks in like 3 in-game hours with just a few of them. Or that cougar breaking down that reinforced iron door in a couple minutes. Cougars wouldn't even bother attacking the door to be fair. So I can see it both ways. Either way, great content G9, keep it up!

Nerd Pulling is no different then building ladders and slapping them on the side of a building. There are benefits and draw backs to both. If you were 'roleplaying', then building ladders, ramps to get to a difficult spot makes sense, since 'nerd pulling' would actually kill you as it is physically impossible to maintain your balance after a certain height.
@firesayer23grumpybuns752 жыл бұрын
Had to jump in here.. pretty sure it is nerd poling. Not pulling. Since you pole up to a spot. I see your point though, it would be interesting if there was a mechanic that simply did not allow more than 4 or 5 frames to be stacked on top of each other. Like if it just came crashing down. And adding that into a patch with no warning would be hilarious! Haha

If I'm not mistaken, brass is technically a finite resource in the game, isn't it? At least in terms of non-trader acquisition. I mean you can get the perk to harvest it from doors and sinks or whatever, but there's no way to get any more other than buying it if you somehow manage to break every door and salvage every brass lamp/light. Then again..money becomes a non-issue once you start getting tier 3 and 4 POIs, so you could just run around to every trader and buy their whole stock of ammo every 3 days. In any case, love your videos man. Will be watching you this weekend for the A20 streamer launch, and definitely looking forward to playing it Monday!

A horde every night like you said and maybe a mod to make the hordes a lot bigger (I think setting it to max in-game will still only give you one or two on the first night) might work, this idea has some potential. I love this mini series so entertaining to watch. I was wondering has there ever been a primitive challenge? Only knives spears and bows no firearms junkies or mechanical aids it would be fun to watch
@zephyrealderan17432 жыл бұрын
I've brought this up in another video, probably back in alpha 18 or so, that you should do a series called the Primitive challenge. Only use the primitive weapons and see how far you can make it. No guns. no iron weapons/tools. strongest armor allowed would be leather/cloth. Flaming arrows would be allowed, but you can't use the higher tier bows. Mods would be allowed, think of them as tribal trinkets, but no robots or stun batons. Not allowed to craft traps, beyond wood spikes, but if you find it out in the world, then that's fair game. Molotovs are okay, but no other throwables. Think of it as anything pre the era of iron and gunpowder. Goal would be to last as long as you can. 300% Exp and Loot, but you have to sell you're none primitive weapons or scrap them Add in insane difficulty, and this would be a crazy challenge. (allowing the crafting of steel for the flaming arrows. Shouldn't require steel arrow heads for flaming arrows, they did it well before steel, but game mechanics are the limiting factor here.)
@skug9782 жыл бұрын
Disagree with 300% Experience Multiplier. It just makes the game EASIER by having your perks upgrade sooner. However, I do like the rest of your suggestions and I might try a "primitive" game myself (but with very hard settings, to suit my ability). For immersiveness, when you do see a gun in a box - You just roleplay that the gun doesn't exist, heh.

Series idea, 12 days of ChristmaZ, xp on max, horde every night, night times set from 22:00 to 20:00, snow biome only, and the game on insane difficulty. But each day u can only spend 1 skill point(or 2 if the upgrade costs that much) Maybe even add a few mods in there for an extra challenge.

This could be a good series if levels still count without spending skill points

Our lord and savior the blunderbuss. Crisp early game weapon. You will be missed.

I've personally never thought putting a frame in a doorway was bad, if it was "real life" you could do it. Put a dresser or bed or something at a choke point. Poling to the top of buildings is a bit to much for me though, no way that would be a real thing.

Tools, junkie, melee and traps only for horde... mini series. 7 episodes?

For reduced cheaty playstyle, you could carry ladders and only place 2-3 at a time (like a folding ladder), or level up parkour to jump higher.

14:00 I feel like he’s made this joke before but honestly he could make it ten more times and I’d laugh more every time

Theoretically, the Traders have had years to forify their posts. So the unbreakable walls make sense. Use them when you can! 😁😁

You could pick up kitchen chairs and place them in doors instead of scrapping them? I used to do that with cinderblocks back when you were able to pick them up.

"Breaks the immersion" nah man fuck that. Mountain lions taking 10+ 7.62mm rounds to the head to kill breaks the immersion lmao

Yeah, deff like the idea of the little mini challenges. I'd love to see some more.
