I haaate how expensive the Harry Potter books are! Just because they're super popular and huge. There are other books about the same size as some of the Potter books and they are way cheaper. I just think Harry Potter is one of those books that everyone should be able to pick up and read (aside from reading them at the library for free, of course, but I mean for actually purchasing them because you love them so much). Like, Ron Weasley would probably not be able to buy some of those Potter books because of how stupidly expensive they are. It's just a pet peeve of mine and super annoys me. Not to mention the freaking box sets price tag...

I got books 1-5 for $30 and then the last 2 for $3 each lol. I'd say I was lucky to find those so cheap at a used bookstore. They're In great condition too!

A Good 50% of my books are used from the goodwill and savers, and in good condition in hardback also.

Only the hardcovers the paperbacks are normal price (11 for the first three 14 for the rest at the bookstore where I work).

I got my hardcover Harry Potter books very cheap and in amazing conditions from websites like ThriftBooks and the used Amazon section, even eBay for The Goblet of fire for $5. No book was more than $7, most around $4.

English charity shops are the best, I got all my copies of Harry Potter from them and a lot are hardback first editions and only about 50p - £2

We have a bookstore in town that sells used HP books for like 2(!) bucks. And all books are in great condition and almost never any writing/ripped pages/dog ears etc. Love that store!

Years ago my grandmother gave my Aunt "Under the Dome" and she was going to read it but forgot about it. Then she started to obsess over the show and one day her puppy was chewing on something, she checked to see what it was and it was the book. Probably not the way she wanted to find it.

Oh my gosh... please read Under The Dome. It is a super long book, but once you get into it, it goes so quickly. There are so many characters, but, just like in The Stand (which is a beast, but a shining example of King at his finest) you will know every one of them personally by the end. It's not a diificult read, by any means, but it is absolutely engrossing. :)

Gluttony- I think Twilight is the book with shame we all obsessed over when the craze began and now all hide in the back of our bookcases so no one will notice. But hey, at least we got over it. ^^ Sloth-- Under the Dome, I was thinking the same thing! It would be my book for this category too.

Under the dome is so good. It is typical Stephen King, but so good. I have never hated a character more than I hated "Big Jim".

The book and the tv show doesn't seem like the same story. I mean yes they both take place under a dome, but the characters have changed, Big jim's son is (as far as I have seen) a part of the solution in the tv series, but one of the really bad guys in the book. Same with a character that was killed within the first pages of the book is also part of the solution in the tv series. I loved the book and hated the tv series. Had I watched the show before I had read the book I would most likely love the tv series and hate the book.

You should look around at thrifts stores to see if they have a hardback copy of Deathly Hallows. This is how I obtained the first three Harry Potter books in hardback, and I have seen copies of hardback Harry Potter books at my local Goodwill many times since then.

Where do you live where HP is $30? I bought the Deathly Hallows for about $18 or less at midnight from Barnes and Noble when it first came out and I did the same for the Half Blood Prince. I live in MA but bought them in NY when I was about 11 or maybe younger....

I got two Harry Potter hardcover (with the dustcover) for $4 at half price books a couple of years ago. I can't even tell you the joy I felt when I saw them at such a cheap price. Go to half price books if you are poor (like me). A lot of them have the newer books for cheap prices!

The length of Under The Dome is indeed pretty intimidating, but once you do get into it, you won't regret it... You could look into some of Stephen King's other classics, like The Shining, Misery, Pet Sematary, or Christine (too many to list :D) for example, which are all of a reasonable length.

Under The Dome is one of those books that's great on an e-reader. It doesn't feel like such an undertaking to get through it. I flew through it when I heard they were making a show out of it and I had purchased it a few years prior. Liked the book, hate the show. I also have a Harry Potter book that I want to repurchase but won't. It was a collector version that came out and it has a different cover and a box that it goes into but it looks bad in the middle of all the other ones. It drives me nuts.

I remember getting The Deathly Hallows on the day it came out for $15 at Wal-Mart. I think I spent $18- $20 on the 4th - 6th books. I see them ALL the time at my local thrift store now but they aren't always in great condition. I'm getting ready to start Wither. I'm kind of iffy about it but I will give it a chance.

I dyed my hair red for a year and a half and I loved it bt just the fact that I had to buy a dye and dye my hair every month has too annoying for me, because red is the color that fades way and washes off the fastest

Well in the US they usually cost maybe like 15$ to like 20$ or something so it is expensive for the US but maybe not in other countries. We're just used to 30 dollars being expensive for a book I guess.

Harry Potter and the Philoshipher's Stone 6 times? I am only 15 and I've read it soooo many more times. I think I used to read it every time I woke up in the middle of the night from a nightmare when I was younger, so that may be why. I have alaso read all the twiight books many times because they just have a certain feel to them that is very unique and makes me feel better whenever I'm bored.

I just bought the whole Harry Potter series at target the special edition where the spins make up the castle for $70 and I feel bad about that cuz I found the box set later on Amazon for like $52 but it was the original covers and ughh I also don't feel bad at the same time because I love the special edition more than the original covers
