I've planted some peas and cucumber last weekend from seed and they're already coming up from the soil! 🌱💚 I keep them in my kitchen window for now because we still getting some snow here in the UK. But it's really cool to see how quick they grow from nothing 😊 Can't wait for the summer! ☀️ Thank you for your positive content as always! 🥰 xx.

I started gardening after I got married. Loose leaf lettuce is the easist to grow and it will cut and grow again. My wife has been a big help although when she arrived from her home in the Philippines it took her time to understand that pineapples will grow great until this thing called winter hits.

Thanks for this, Carrie! I have been planting a veggie garden for the past three years up here in northern England. If anyone is in the UK, and wondering about plants in this climate, here are a few veg/fruit/herbs that I have planted and have been very successful at: tomatoes, peas, strawberries, kale, courgettes (zucchini), radishes, rosemary, parsley, thyme, and bok choy, surprisingly. I have had a really difficult time with pumpkins, corn, coriander (cilantro), cauliflower, and basil.

Just found your channel and I’m starting building my raised beds this summer for next years planting. We have a mini garden that my 6 year old started and he’s really found a liking to gardening. For all of our health, we are driving on in by following you and a lot of your advice. Thank you for being real and honest with what works and doesn’t. Love when you said veggies work best around other veggies just like people. Made me giggle

I’m wanting to start a garden. It’s currently the month of June. When is the best month to start a garden?
@thegardenerschronicle
@thegardenerschronicle Жыл бұрын
Plan and prep in January - think where you want to lay the beds, what you want to grow etc. Know you hardiness zone, your last frost date. 6 weeks prior to the last frost date is when you start your seeds indoors. There is no one best month, but late spring, summer and fall and when most vegetables grow. Hope this was helpful!

and technically banana is a nut, but I doubt anyone actually calls it that. I guess tomato is commonly referred to as a vegetable for its uses. You don't put a tomato in a fruit salad or in a fruit smoothie, but is mostly used as vegetables are, I suppose

I know this post is several years old, however there are TONS of crops that work in pots or raised beds ( I put a raised bed on our deck when we didn't have a yard. It looked a bit weird but worked great.) Some I would suggest for beginners for growing in pots would be Green onions, onions, cherry and roma tomatoes, leaf lettuce, bell peppers, jalapenos, sweet mini peppers, potatoes (will work in pots or grow bags, you will not get a crazy amount tho), peas, mini cucumbers or bush cucumbers, raddishes, strawberries, and Spinach. Some of those are slightly easier or harder to grow, however all are very doable even for a person who is new to gardening. If you are looking for a challenge crop to grow in a pot... Garlic. Garlic seems to be my personal test, I just can't seem to get it quite right.
