Burning candle finishes the oxygen in the jar and create a semi vacuum in the jar . That prevents the nicrome wire from burning out.

You put the lit candle inside the sealed jar, beside the diy light bulb's filament b/c the incandescent bulb can only work when inside the bulb is a vacuum. The lit candle will use the remaining O2 inside the sealed jar. Once it has depleted, the candle will extinguish which signifies that 1 of the 3 things needed to keep a fire going, O2, is missing. Now you know there's perfect conditions in the sealed jar to burn a tungsten filament, in the hopes to produce light.

at 1:15 you put a candle in the jar so it will use all the oxygen in the jar so the coil wont oxidize and melt/burn... that is why light bulps have a special gass in it... and that is why it explodes when you brake the bulp... :))

This result of this process creates a hyperactive state of ions both of which are positive and negative in nature. The glow you see is the result of the combination.
