There are so many brands & options on your friends website. Can you narrow down the brands on the website you would suggest for someone who understands the importance & value of high quality lifelong lasting instruments, but is at an entry level budget creating my instrument kit. The selection is so vast that some guidance on specific brands or items would be incredibly helpful & you are the expert as you’ve demonstrated here & on the other video about nail care & tool selection advice.

Thank you so much for sharing this with the Gents! Some men out there really need to hear this. I was in St. Barts a month ago and there was some guy on the beach chair next to me with some really fugly toe nails. He looked like he could climb a tree like a grizzly bear with those suckers. I had a pair of nail nippers in my pocketbook and pulled them out and told him he needed these more than I did. I would have thought that he would have had the common sense to handle that before offending other beach goers, but I guess not. I'm glad you are putting this out there so the fellas will know to keep those nails in check!

Hahaha, my hometown is Solingen and it took several times of you saying it until I understood, what you were talking about, because you pronounce it like an English word. And yes, Solingen prides itself with their craftsmanship in making blades. The companies there are extremely good at it.

I keep a glass jar with rubbing alcohol in it for cleaning my safety razors and razettes. I like the ones with the seal on the lid, with the tension lock. Think clear version of an old cookie jar.

I’m a germophobe, as the result of multiple painful nail infections from unknowingly cutting my nails incorrectly resulting in inadvertently causing in grown nails & other trauma. I spray mine after use with rubbing alcohol &, usually, before use, too. This is extra work to some, but understandable considering my background of past experiences for me. You can also use an alcohol wipe like a 2” x 2” alcohol prep pad used before we get a blood draw or injection. I prefer, however, using the substantially larger full sized alcohol wipes you can buy that come in a pull up canister like a baby wipe tub. They’re much easier to handle & I have large hands since I’m 6’ 3”. You’ll find many other uses for them that you never thought of beforehand & wish you had known about. By twisting a corner into a point, the wipe can be inserted through almost like threading a needle through the spaces of the frame & then you can pull the entire thing through making physical contact with all the internal surfaces. My first choice is spraying with rubbing alcohol though as it’s the easiest & takes the least amount of time. I’ve made the mistake of using Lysol spray following the manufacturers directions for disinfection which only required 2-3 min of surface saturation. This caused rusting because of the poor entry level quality of the clippers so it wasn’t a loss financially. It did teach me to think of the rubbing alcohol & use as an alternative solution since it evaporates almost immediately & thereby doesn’t cause rust or corrosion. If you want to buy the high quality clippers being suggested in the advice of this video, which I agree with too, you’ll want to take the precaution of caring for them carefully since they’re an investment when you see the prices beginning in the $60+ range.

Popping pimples, as gross as that sounds. Center the hole on the pimple and press down hard. It's better than squeezing them with fingers?

I am half way through the video. I am a classical guitarist. I'd have to say that you probably are instructing amateurs to use these tools. Nail files are not to be skipped. And there are specific types of files to be avoided.

+Darius R.H. Yang At the end of each time you cut or clip the nails, the surface is extremely rough. The edges of the nails needs to be filed so when you feel it when another hand's thumb nail, it should feel smooth. Otherwise it will catch fibres and other materials and start to rip. There are also ways you can file your nails so that many of these tools can be avoided (at least for the finger nails).

+Real Men Real Style Antonio. I love you other videos. I am not attacking what you share here. But many of these tools are not extremely necessary. And when you introduce them without letting us know in what circumstances to use which tool, there will be not much value out of almost no use for them. :) One thing I'd say that you left out, which is also important, is a very fine filing sponge, or fine sand. If you run your right hand thumb nail by your left hand fingernails' edges now, I guarantee you that it feels very uneven. Once you sand the edges after you file them as the last step, your fingernails should be perfect, regardless you use them to play the guitar or not. I would suggest you to make a step by step video in the future. If you want more information, you can always email me at darius.yang.guitar@gmail.com

You gotta be kidding me... For couple of decades I thought that curved nail scissors are supposed to be used the opposite way. That's the way I use them and it looks good to me. Basically, this way there can never be any ingrown nails that I always had problems with before. The edges are "finished" in ideal way.

Any guy who's buying a $286 dollar nail kit is seriously over thinking it. Buy a dollar pair of nail clippers cuz no one cares about the rest that you do with your nails.
@seymourfields3613
@seymourfields3613 5 жыл бұрын
Bad advice if he plans on touching women in any delicate places, don't you think? $286 I agree is about $230 too much for a full kit, however, dollar store nail clippers leave men's thicker finger nails cut terribly. I currently have a cheap pair, because my good ones are AWoL, and so I found it very necessary to actually file down the edges after clipping them, a task that I haven't performed in almost a decade. That being said, men that work in different environments may have a need for many of these tools. While I worked as a carpenter (not the least masculine career that I can think of..) gloves were constantly pulled on and off, hands were being shoved in pouches, bags, pockets, to retrieve various items. A cracked or split nail catching on fabric and ripping deep across your finger is actually more painful than putting a spinning drill bit into the side of your hand. Don't ask how I know. That being said, having a nail file to clean up a cracked nail is a GODSEND for men that work with their hands. Having a chunk of wood in your hand can also hinder your ability to work so well, so a good pair of tweezers is appreciated. Not some crappy dollar store ones that bend when you squeeze them. Some thick stainless steel ones that run $20 easy, and can actually grip wood (or metal, glass, and at one point a paint chip oddly enough) to pull it out of your skin so you can again grip a hammer or nail properly. The kit, over $300 after tax, is excessive. It's got stuff you really don't need. But the idea that a dollar pair of clippers is -ALL- you need? Wrong.
