This was bittersweet to watch being my sixtyone year old self and having lived in Ft. Lauderdale for five years from '91-96. I had been a bartender at The Jungle briefly, a dancer, briefly, at Stanley's, a bartender at Club Caribbean, I-beam and for a brief period at Boots. I had actually won "The Most Desirable Man" contest that was held at The Club Caribbean and that landed me on the cover of Scoop magazine, June 22, 1994. The photograph had been taken by the infamous Pompano Bill, it was that photo that landed me the job at I-beam... because the owner Bob's boyfriend Craig said he recognized me, but I didn't know him...he had seen that cover. I went into the bar with a friend one night before they opened and the manager wanted to give the guy I was with a job, but not me. Craig said he would see that I got a job there. He was true to his word. Thank you, Craig! I ended up being the manager of the bar. It was while working at I-beam that I took a trip to Italy...Rome, Florence and Venice. I believe the cost of the trip was approximately $3000 which included the airfare and four and five star hotels for 14 nights. I can't believe you paid $6000 for four nights in that villa...how times have changed. Anyway, I refer to those years as "My Time in The Sun". Enjoy your "Time in The Sun", young men!

Love the apartment that you are staying in - BTW if any of you lads are staying in Dublin Ireland, I highly recommend the Clayton Ballsbridge Dublin 4 (formerly Bewley’s Hotel) - I went there for the week of my 52nd birthday from the U.K. in October 2022, it’s beside the RDS and has excellent public transport links into Dublin City Centre, including the DART trains into Dublin Pearse, Tara St & Connolly and exploring Dublin’s Irish gay nightlife - I’d been working in a partner hotel in the U.K. so I’d got a staff discount through its Irish owned parent company, as it was very much a last minute thing, but important for me was that, being a good Irish Catholic and an older Irish gay man, I’d got to visit my longtime family friends who are enclosed Poor Clare Catholic Nuns in their convent nearby, where I was able to get Mass everyday
