Good times also more inclusion without claiming it... today is more like disintegration... the concept of only sex is more human... also i have problems with the gay concept... gay is a defined group of homosexualism and a subculture that cross barriers of masculinity but what about homosexuals that doesn't feel into that group I'm talking about regular masculine dudes that are homosexuals without being part of that gay kinda femenine world?
@ijansk3 жыл бұрын
They didn't have the concepts of heterosexuality, homosexuality and bisexuality. They devided people into who penetrates and who is penetrated. However, the three existed back then just like they do today. Being exclusively attracted to one sex was seen as odd, but people only attracted to one sex existed.

@mneech6092 жыл бұрын
@@zhanezhaanezhanne7163 Ah yes, all gay men dress as girls and twerk randomly. And all heterosexual men beat their wives and care only about sex. And every heterosexual woman cheats on her husband. There was no gay or straight then. There was only sex and love. It took the Judo Christian religions to start finding certain practices as wrong and define sexuality. They invented sin and denied much of human sexuality. And still do. The Greeks enjoyed life and the pleasures the human body can experience through sex. They didn’t deny themselves these things.
@wkbbrat4 жыл бұрын
Also, they didn’t define sexuality in such a limited, binary way .

There were heterosexual and homosexual people. What you are pointing out is the societal expectation of the time that being attracted to both sexes was considered the norm and being attracted only to one sex was considered odd or uncommon. But still homosexual people who didn't want sexual and romantic intimacy with the opposite sex were around.

I don't believe their sexuality was so cut and dried to say they were gay or not. Remember, The Gods were "free" to act in any way they wanted while at the same time setting rules for their humans. Sexuality was expressed by The Gods in many ways. Orgies, beastiality, Infidelity, homosexuality, etc. were as common - and accepted - as heterosexual relationships. And they were always explained away as "being the will of The Gods" which pretty much covered anything The Gods did.
@kaloarepo2884 жыл бұрын
Greeks themselves made a quip about the sibling gods Apollo and Artemis(Diana) They said that the first was more than a little sissy-ish and the latter a bit mannish.Artemis(Diana) seems to have spent most of her time hunting and cavorting with nymphs and when Actaeon was discovered perving on her as she bathed in the spring with her nymphs she made his dogs tear him apart.

Some corrections. Dionysus did love Ampelus, but I don't think he had an affair with Adonis. Poseidon did love Pelops, but did so when Pelops was still a youth, and NOT yet the king of Pisa. Orpheus did not so much love the young men in Thrace as he taught the Thracian men to love boys. It seems that really pissed the Thracian ladies off, so they pounced upon him and dismembered him. Hmmm... why does that remind me of modern women?

They don't label men as straight or gay during that time when it comes to engaging sex. It's like normal for them whether they do sex with the opposite or same gender, they just do sex not marriage. They are same like Romans especially during the time of Caligula. Even up to now, many are men of such kind in both countries. Also in Middle East
@joexuereb6073 жыл бұрын
Elias Alqamar There is one harsh reality(whether people like it or not - and I am talking about modern times). In societies where females are not available for a variety of reasons(mainly religious), the men at the height of their sexual energies - especially if they are not religious, they seem to be open to any offer by other homosexual men. But because they are, and see themselves as heterosexual, they are very careful not to lose sight of their identity. This means that although they are quite happy to engage with another male, there are certain things they will not do. Such men will not kiss on the mouth and nor will they handle the other man's penis. Both these things would make them question their heterosexuality so they are very guarded. They may relax a bit if they have had a few alcoholic drinks. Or if there is some form of monetary gain for them.
