You forgot the retired professional old guy. He is the guy at the ride that shows up on an older modern bike like a ten year old Triumph Bonneville. He asks some questions about the bike you are riding but generally doesn't say a ton. On the ride he is the guy that will humiliate the fast guy with his abilities, thinks the wheelie guy is a fool, the girl loves him because he reminds her of her grandpa and gets along great with the ADV guy because they are both laid back and the ADV is the one bike he has not owned in his life unless you count some form of 60s scrambler. Noob rider gets some great tips from him and helps noob become a better rider. Later when talking to retired professional old guy you find out he knows every part number for every bike over 40 years old, has a racing pedigree a mile long, and was (and is) cooler than everyone on the ride could ever hope to be. I know these types because I am ADV guy and get along with them. :)

@@RossMalagarie How much does a waterproof phone cost? More than my used bike, sir. How do you all manage to earn sooooo much money? Or do you folks get lost when it starts raining? A bike satnav is absolutely waterproof, most phones are not. Are you pussies staying home, when it rains? I don't get it, bikers on holiday continue the fun when it rains, of course. That's what those great garments are designed for. To keep you dry and comfy. All day long. A phone for satnav? In a car, okay. But on a bike? Why not buy the proper gear?!

@@RossMalagarie Doesn't every American earn more than 500K each year, living in a palace, owning four cars in the family, a dirt bike, a touring bike AND a racing bike? Did I mention the thoroughbred horses, yet? And the private helicopter? Yeah, everybody has a motorbike and a fucking expensive smart phone with sat nav (how much do you pay for that mobile data?) in the States. Wake up, dude! There are lots of poor people working for your income, too. That's called capitalism and it is supposed to be great. For the ones owning it all. But not everybody owns it all. The idea of "your country" is a bit romantic, I'm afraid. The average American can hardly afford a motorbike and gear belonging to biking. How come? Is income distribution fair? Don't think so. That's why not everybody has a smartphone you can drop in water.

(Sarcasm) 3) Google your phone specific waterproof case. 4) You say not everyone has a lot of money then you also say get the proper gear? My way you don't have to buy a $100 Sat nav you use the smartphone that most people have. Just buy a handlebar mount, (which you would have to buy for your Sat nav) and a waterproof case for your phone, (which you would also have to have for your Sat nav)and your done. Your way you have to have a phone and a sat nav 5) You complain that I feel like we here in Merica have a lot of money but wouldn't it be cheaper to use my set up? 6) Don't get so mad bro at someone trying to give tips on how to make riding safer, cheaper, and easier. 7) New from Aamazon Lg Stylo 4, got it about a year ago for $180. It comes water resistant, but you can get a cheap waterproof case on Amazon. I have Walmart straight talk unlimited talk and text for $45/month 8) You asked how I earn so much? I'm a 17yr full time professional Firefighter that's how I earn my living. 9) Have a good day.
@voornaam3191
@voornaam3191 5 жыл бұрын
@@RossMalagarie No, not mad at you. Why? It's just that not everybody can afford what we are used to. And later I realized Google Maps can work offline, too. And when it rains, you can put that phone in a dry pocket. The voice still works fine. So a top notch waterproof phone is nice, but not for a bike. A bike satnav is a better option, I guess. But still, not everybody can afford a smart phone. It is good to think about that, too. Don't forget the ones who struggle to earn a living. And meanwhile kids ride dirt bikes worth thousands of dollars, like they deserve it. Some do, but think about the spoilt ones, in contrast to the ones working their ass off just for basic expenses. Those guys don't have the newest iPhones, and the spoilt kids simply get them for Christmas every year. Got the point? Not mad at you, but how fair is it one can afford a new bike and another one, working just as hard, can forget all that? Yep, all your points make sense. A waterproof casing is a good option. And they come cheap, too. Great, a young guy being a firefighter, that's quite an impressive profession. Sorry, was a bit carried away by the huge gap between poor and rich. It's a hard society. I'm from Europe, and of course everybody must fight to keep once head above the water, but our water is a bit less deep and cold, so to speak. And that's not your fault, either. So have fun biking.

Cameraman (me) because I take pictures of us a lot. 6. The Ninja - only appears at night rides and they rarely speak, they just.. listen, and laugh at a corner. 7. The Bartender - always has a beer in hand. 8. Loveboii - this one always has to ask his wife to allow him 9. Dont neglect us cruiser guy's with the subtle differences. 1 wheelie guy is now on a Sportster with body damage and as little gear as possible dumping the clutch in 1st gear to clutch up with gloriously epic stories of recent wipeouts. 2 Fast guy is now on a big v twin that will remind you at every stop that he has never been beat and shits on crotch rockets(250s mostly). Often will complain his seat doesnt have enough support and you can slide right off his 80hp behemouth. 3 New guy is on a used metric bike with no issues and talking about buying his first "real bike" in the future just to fit in. Then we get to the new cruiser specific guys. 4 The drinker, this guy will pound as many drinks as possible at every stop with no regard for self preservation. Often will say "just one more" before the group leaves one location. 5 The atgat guy, this guy used to ride moto x & crotch rockets and is thoroughly convinced life can only be enjoyed under 15 layers of leather and a full face helmet. This man has never had an alcoholic beverage and ridden and will always be arguing with drunk guy about the meaning of life but somehow will be good friends. 6. Burnout guy, this gentleman(im guilty) goes through more tires than oil changes and is constantly lighting up a smoke whenever possible without concern. This gentleman smells burnt aroma of rubber and instantly gets excited. He will take a slight mistaken tire squeal as an outright burn out challenge and has atleast 3 friends in his phone that have had to rescue him with a trailer after another poor life choice leaves him stranded. 7 The ghost, one in every group, a guy that is always down for whatever ride but is never seen on the day of. Often replies days later with an apology and lame excuse of where he was that no one really worried about. Feel free to steal, modify, mock this as you will cruiser guys like your channel too. Lol

it's kinda weird that lady riders are the opposite of (many bad) lady car drivers... they are more aware, careful, and polite than many dude riders. i guess it's just cuz of the people we are talking about are exceptional and unique human beings. it seems like people who are willing to independently explore uniquely rarefied positions in life are on a little bit more of a fully self actualized journey in life (in regards to braving a novel trek of authenticity) that inevitably leads one to be a bit more conscientious than people who generally follow a more common, pre-cleared path (which there is also nothing wrong with). no offense meant to anyone at all; i'm just stupidly musing.

is this really a thing?? I have several girl friends who also ride, just like I do, and we're all straight, but I've had a few guys ask me "so do you get a lot of lesbian attention now as a rider?" and I don't get it. Where does this idea/stereotype come from?

There's a couple that you've missed: 1. No fuel guy. Always has to top the gas before going out on rides. 2. Go-to guy: mechanic of the group, troubleshoots and fixes the bikes of the group. Has all the tools needed and spares to boot. Well versed in all things biking. Does everything for free. 3. Miser-guy: The one in the group who has a half decent bike but can't afford to maintain it. Will definitely discuss how they want to upgrade to a bigger and better bike, but waiting to be more cash positive to do so. 4. Breakdown guy: offshoot of the above where his bike always has broken down and needs fixing. Go-to guy doesn't like him much... 5. Planning guy: the guy who makes elaborate plans for the group as to when and where to ride. Group ends up ditching the plan and wing it. 6. Coffee/tea guy: out of all the hours you could be riding, you spend a few minutes riding from the Meetup point to the closest cafe to drink a cup of joe and chat.

On lady riders: "9/10 times, you shouldn't treat her like a bloke, YoU can tell if she's 'one of the boys' right off, just be friendly and treat her as a mates Mrs- out of bounds, but still up for a laugh." Advise my father gave me when I got my licence. I think it's top notch advise for interacting with lady riders.

They'll become you're brothers you never had. Have fun, stay safe, and let me know how it goes! 🏍✌🦋

I’m a bit of a mixed bag, i drive fast but not too fast (10-15mph over the limit usually), don’t mind to drive up front if the rest can keep up, i wear a leather jacket over jeans and boots (sometimes sneakers if it’s a short ride) and i don’t mind giving tips to new riders. I guess that means i’m still a Eurosnob? Also, just last week i met a grill rider with a Ducati 1199, that was pretty darn cool.

Channels like this got me into riding. If I had the money I’d have started with a Yamaha or a BMW, but as mere student, I can only afford a humble 250cc Chinese bike. It’s a solid one modeled to look like a modern scrambler and I’m more than happy with it. Probably gonna hold on to it for two or three years before switching to a premium bike once I graduate and get a formal job.

Much respect for the ADV guy. Neil Peart (Drummer for RUSH) used to ride his BMW from gig to gig with his tour bus meeting him at the next gig. He was alone all across North, Middle and South America. He ate by himself and was usually reading books. He claimed that he was only recognized once. He wrote several wonderful books about his rides and philosophy on drumming. Unfortunately, he passed from brain cancer just a few years ago. Lone rider, ADV rider, Mission rider? Yes.
