Parry haste is also a major factor why we want to kill enemies 3 levels below us, and highly avoid 3 levels above us. The chance to parry for a mob at 3 lvls higher (Generally) is roughly 12.5%. This is a whole 6% jump of parry chance compared to a mob that is 2 levels higher. I highly advise learning about the effects of Defense and Weapon Skill. It explains why humans are so good, why melees should always stick to green mobs, and why to be at the back of mobs ideally.

I have another tip: Get comfortable with items and spells you dont use often. How often do you need intimidating shout or sticky glue? If you play well, maybe once a week. Which means you have no mucscle memory. It got me killed when I asspulled a Stegodon in Ungoro. I had a break before playing again, so I wasnt too used to using Target Dummy and I had only used 3 glues until lvl 55 when I died. Substitue items which are consumables like the glue with a netomatic if you are a engineer to get into the habit of pressing that button and have the effect of the item mimicked. I use intimidating shout when fighting two mobs to hamstring + shout one and kill the other. Thats how I stay sharp, so Im not just to my 123 kill buttons but all of them.

I always felt like mobs have such different leash timers. I've had a murloc chase me forever, or bandits that returns after only a few seconds. I never knew about the 9 second rule with it. It sounds about right.
@davidsantiago78082 ай бұрын
Only 9 seconds If u don't hit it. A lot of people keep mobs in combat by hitting
@LobbeWOW Жыл бұрын
Leash range is also a factor - you cannot get a mob to drop aggro on you by simply running circles around it where you aggroed it, nether can you keep a mob leashed consistently by simply stopping for X amount of time while you are on a mount as an example, nor will a mob facilitate its own leash timer reset by forcing you to stand still, be that through a root or stun effect. i find it easier to think of mobs as extreme "stand your ground" enthusiasts, meaning they will fight you and beat you to death so long as they can justify self defense, but the moment you appear to flee from them for a long enough distance without posing a threat to them, they will return to their little "home base", waiting for another chance to "self defend".
@MrSanctuarys Жыл бұрын

That opener about leashing made it clear to me why its so good to have a druid around for the HoTs dang...
@Neehize Жыл бұрын
Nice tips, especially the leash. However, IIRC in WoW the Z-axis is the vertical position (up/down), Y is horizontal position (east/west) and X is depth position (north/south). Also it's impossible that the game only checks for the X axis otherwise any mob on the east or west axis could hit you, no matter their distance. I think you meant the game only checks your 2D position (X and Y axis) but not the Z axis. But your final explanation is correct. (Please correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't played WoW in ages)
@CalamityHC Жыл бұрын

@@CalamityHC No no sorry, not sure if you're being sarcastic. Great video honestly I didn't know how the leashing work and you enlighted me. :)
@noname-gp6hk Жыл бұрын
Yeah I came here to add that - I think the idea she's trying to communicate is correct, just the exact explanation is a bit off. The horizontal plane is the X and Y axis, and Z is the vertical dimension. The game is checking distance across the XY plane and not the Z axis. And that's what the message was even if it was explained a little wrong. It's super helpful to be reminded that mobs can still hit you even if they're above you on a fucken staircase... Thanks for the reminder. That would be one hell of a way for a run to end.

But for the leash, there is a question of distance from the mobs original position, no ? Like if i just circle around him out of range not hitting it, it just never resets, but if i go too far even while hitting it, it still resets. Is there like basically a minimum / maximum distance + the timer ?

I feel like caves can be a lot more doable if you are currently the only one doing it and when you do not take risky shortcuts. When someone is already in a cave I hate it because I might run into the respawn of this guy and get caught by too many enemies. So when I am the first one to enter a cave I can carefully observe and plan the route I want to take and there is almost always a route that is doable for any class. Sure it is slow but the pathing of the mobs always allows for a short window of safely pulling enemies. I kinda dislike the "no grouping" rule of official classic wow HC challenge. I think it should be fine to group with people as long as they are your level or very close to it. Like a lvl 20 grouping with a lvl 22 should be no problem imo. I just wanna play with my friend.

I'm pretty sure it's not just the time that's being considered into leashing but also the distance you kite the mob. I don't know. It just always felt like it's more of a distance issue than time.
@CalamityHC Жыл бұрын
There's a min distance (they won't leash within 31 yards of their spawn) but otherwise it's all based on time
@briansung3036 Жыл бұрын
From my experience, one of the best way to runaway from mobs are running diagonally strafe+forward.. or forward+mouse-rightclick with a slight twist.. you can pretty much evade most of the melee attacks and wiil not be stunned. Used this technique since 2005 😅 about 95% times works like a charm. Also when passing by mobs (riding mount), its best to just go straight through instead of trying to go around. 😊

You really need to add the Coral Shark from Dustwallow Marsh on the dangerous mob list... Learned this the hard way on my level 38 warlock, was full hp, 1.7k. Noticed I was in combat with the shark and died 0.2 seconds later. - The shark killed me in one hit, even though I had 954 armor from demon skin and elixir of greater defense.

Parry haste exists even in retail today and is how people like Rextroy have soloed current content raid bosses, by just agroing literally every trash mob in a raid and getting tons of parries, so he basically just has instant autos for the whole fight. I first learned about parry haste from him during either BFA or SL, don't quite remember. That unitscan thing is great btw, going to add that to my list of addons for sure.

List has Warsong Outrider mentioned, but not Wandering Protector in Ashenvale. List has Forsaken Bodyguard mentioned, but not Southshore Guard. This is what i found by myself. I always thought instinctively that leash timer was somehow related to how far the mob was from it’s original location factored by how far the mob was from my character (as passing by with a mount seemed to break the leash much faster) but this is an interesting info. Also i grew up moslty on Pserv mechanics which may not be the same
