I no longer purchase car washes, costume jewelry, candles, air fresheners, drier sheets, fabric softener, household cleaners, disposable disinfectant wipes, face wipes, yard / lawn or pool maintenance people. One of the benefits is…..It’s great exercise washing and detailing my own vehicle & maintaining the yard and pool.

Here's something I never hear people talking about.. paper napkins. We switched to cloth napkins and I absolutely prefer it. And no, unless you have a particularly messy meal, you shouldn't have to wash them after every single use. People are also way too precious about how often you wash things like sheets, towels, clothes. I think there is a lot of water waste as a result. Don't get me wrong, things should be cleaned regularly, but many things don't need to be washed after a single use (underwear and socks are perhaps the main exceptions to this).
@Living.minimal6 ай бұрын
You bring up such a great point about paper napkins! And you're spot on about washing frequency-sometimes, we're a little too quick to toss things in the laundry when they could easily be used a few more times. It's all about finding that balance between cleanliness and sustainability. Thanks for sharing your insights! 🌿♻️

So true and when you have natural fibres you actually don’t need to wash like you would with say polyester. My winter sweaters and cashmere, or wool mostly mohair, and with a good steam and hanging them up and airing them out somewhere with natural air flow/breeze. You truly only need to wash it is it’s visibly dirty, or has an odour. Same with my church wear, I have 2 silk blouses (they don’t need to be washed every wear) I wear it only on say Sunday and for maybe 2-3 hours and then come home and change out of it. So can be worn multiple times. For some examples 😊

You're on a roll, Kyra! I need to put some of these into practice. One thing I let go of was having a second car. I work from home since the pandemic began and although it would be nice to have a second car for emergencies, I just can't justify it. My partner and I have one car and he goes to school, so he makes good use of it.

For me, I keep most items in their original packaging (spice jars, salt & pepper shakers used for picnics). I see so many containers as just one more thing to clean. I did however receive the Rubbermaid Brilliant containers for a gift. And those really do keep food fresh! I've had grapes and cherry tomatoes last for a long time in these. Another idea I just learned from this channel is to store several items in a basket. 🌻
