Software developers are being replaced by chatgbt now. Granted, the programs AI are writing need a lot of work, but it's clear that jobs will be lost. Politicians are safe because they can write legislation to protect their jobs. Lawyers can also protect their jobs via laws, but computers with self-help Legal document creation are hitting their bottom line for last several years already. Doctors: computers can read radiology images better than doctors in some studies. Radiologists used to be among the highest paid groups of physicians, now it's getting harder for them to get jobs. Other physician jobs are being hit with algorithm based care, where physical assistants and nurse practitioners are using AI to help them, also replacing physician jobs

The issue with self driving cars is that there are still cars being driven by humans. Human error is what makes it difficult for a self driving car to function properly. If all cars drove themselves and had a network of communication, accidents would probably decrease immensely.

I'd argue an AI doctor would be more efficient. A human doctor only knows so much and are restricted to their own specialty (eg. psychiatry/opthalmology/endocrinology, etc). An AI however, would have access to every single piece of medical knowledge we have and can give you a much more accurate diagnosis based on your symptoms.

People are confused about autopilot 1. Input, commands, and changes are manually inputted by pilots in the autopilot 2. There are specific requirements that are needed to be met before the AP can be turned on (if not they get disengaged) 3. AP doesn't know how to handle non-normal situations, be it anything. 5. Auto Land is a feature for pilots to use when the visibility is extremely low. They are not performed in normal conditions and cannot be performed in a lot of airports as again specific navaids are required. 6. it's just a tool to reduce the pilot's workload not replace them 7. fault in aircraft systems cannot be corrected or looked after by AP 8. AP itself can be faulty and unreliable due to faulty sensors 9. AP cannot take any quick decision, anything outside their limits will turn them off 10. AP does not get engaged by itself.

Damn…. So many people have no idea how autopilot in airplanes work. The pilots tell the autopilot what to do. It’s not a magic button you push and the plane magically “does all the work” It’s like cruise control it reduced workload but doesn’t replace the driver. Yes there is autoland but it’s a complex system to set up and monitor. It’s rarely used because it’s a pain to use and the crew needs to be certified, the airplane needs to be capable of it, and the airport has to have the right equipment. 99% of landings are manual. They are working on automatic takeoff and AI based autopilots but the manufacturers working on it have all said it’s not there to replace pilots.

​@sd86496 If anything, the number of ML/AI jobs is going to exponentially increase over the next decade or so. Which means there are going to be a lot more entry-level openings in the field. As such, making the switch over to machine learning will just become easier. The reason many openings right now want experienced AI researchers is because they are mostly heavy theoretical and research oriented positions that would require a PhD, but as the field develops and more applications are needed, there will be a boatload of opportunities for entry level ML engineers in pretty much every software related field.

Software developers, lawyers, pilots, chefs are in the process already to be replaced. Chefs in restaurants work from a recipe and a robot is able to make the exact recipe by millisecond and more correct temperature than any chef. The issue is money and when robots will be cheaper chef's jobs will be only to develop new recipes. It means 99 chef jobless while one work on new ways to stimulate your taste buds.

The physical workload (stick and rudder flying) of flying a modern jet has greatly reduced because the autopilot handles the stick (the direction in which the flight controls should be facing to make an airplane turn) but that’s not and pretty much never has been the primary role of pilots. The piloting an airplane is A LOT more than just using a stick and rudders to have the plane pointing in the right direction. It’s decision making, risk analysis, system and weather knowledge, along with the basic manual flying skills. BUT even with the automation on the pilots are still flying the plane, even if it’s not manually. The pilots tell the autopilot what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. It’s not just “push a button and watch the computer do the work.” You still have to know how to work the autopilot and stay ahead of the airplane to make decisions. It’s a very heavy mental workload which is one of the reasons (and the primary reason) why airliners still need 2 pilots today Today, many manufacturers are working on increasing autonomy using AI to decrease that mental workload on flight crews and eventually, potentially reduce the flight crew to one pilot on airliners in the future (and even no pilots on future evtols and air taxis). But for large airliners, every manufacturer has said they do not plan on removing pilots from the flight deck, primarily due to their ability to make decisions and to manage the flight, the crew, and deal with emergencies even if there is AI in the loop helping them.

Autopilot doesn’t replace pilots though just reduces the workload by keeping the plane pointing in the right direction and at the right altitude and speed. The pilots have to tell it what to do. There is autoland but it’s complex to set up and monitor, it’s more work than landing manually which is why 99% of landings are manual. Automatic takeoff is being tested by Airbus (and probably Boeing) (look up Airbus ATTOL) but it won’t be used to replace pilots, Airbus’ words not mine.

Software developers will absolutely get replaced. Not that the role won’t exist but everyone will essentially be able to create and write their own software and deploy it knowing minimal code. Definitely some will remain but it will be a very slimmed down workforce.

An AI is on the ballot for a Parliament seat in the UK. 4. AI has successfully won mock court trails, the only thing holding them back is legal permission to be lawyers. 3. AI can at a minimum absolutely eliminate the need for a second pilot, the first will follow soon after. 2. Robots can prepare meals, Generative AI can simulate creativity well enough to create new dishes. 1. NVIDIAs Omniverse is about creating simulated "twins" of real life places where AI can run thousands of trial and error experiments in the amount of time it would take humans to run a handful in real world; OR even run experiments impossible or unsafe to run in the real world. The ONLY jobs safe from AI in the next 10 years are jobs requiring direct contact with other humans, that would make the consumer feel unsafe if it were not done by a human. These very few jobs include things like performing actual medical procedures and *maybe* primary school teachers and therapists.

Idk about maritime crew. But Japan has been working on old age caregiver robot for a while. More out of necessity than actually wanting to, as they're population is on a major decline. So it a matter of time.

Don't be so sure. AI can program pretty well already. And with robots just around the corner, coupled with 2030 AI, they'll be far better dentists than any human. 5 years ago it was unimaginable that an AI will paint from scratch better than humans. AGI is approaching fast, and it's accelerating. In 5 years, all the jobs you listed will be done by AI. Politics is not a job, so that doesn't count. Not only that, but every Joe will be able to make a perfect movie in few hours, or fix the current movies in five minutes. You can already replace actors with anyone you want, but it's not optimized for average person. It will be in 5 years.
