I have lots of hair but it is so fine! Curling it doesn’t work cause the curls just fall out. I’ve had it done for weddings etc by hair stylists and they have all remarked on how hard it is to curl, they have to use so much hair spray my hair is solid to touch. Any tips?

Great video and great tips!! I also eat “hair vitamines”, brush my hair very gently while in the shower (instead of after) and I use a bamboo or silk pillowcase instead of one made of cotton. (Cotton can be hard on very fine hair, because it kind of sticks or grabs on to the hair strands during the night and can cause them to brake, when you move your head around.) Those things have helped me to loose less hair. We want to keep every strand on the head, instead of finding them on the pillowcase, brush or in the shower :-)

The layer thing!!! I got my hair cut to my shoulders and the stylist “texturized” it and you could see through my hair at my neck and it looked so sad and awful. When it grew out, I got it cut straight across and it looked so much better without the wispy thin pieces at my neck!

Yes! I always tell my hairdresser - no layers! I ask them slowly and clearly, to cut across, or a blunt cut, and I say the words - without layers. I always try to be clear of what I want to hairdressers.

I have similar texture to yours! my hair is naturally blond, very thin at the front pieces and thicker in the back near nape of my neck. My hair used to be super stragly and thin but now it’s fine/normal! :) I love your tips and here’s what I do for mine: 1.) aveda thickening tonic. this mf is expensive and it’s only 3.4oz but it gives your hair GRIT and THICC-ness. it actually works. just expensive but it’s really really worth! 2.) no bleaching at ALL. I know your hair is fine/thin but if you stopped bleaching you would be surprised how much more hair you have!! however I think your hair looks really good, esp for being bleached. other girls with thin hair literally have super splitty and gross. opt for olaplex, do a balayage less often if you still want some blonde. Either way even thick haired people lose so much thickness overtime because bleaching is the worst. summer mckeen on KZbin is a good example. Her hair before blonde was so thick. Now, it’s still thick but it’s so damaged. 3.) blow dryer should be far away from your hair/ use warm or cool air. My hairs thin and takes 5 min to dry on Hot, so do your hair the favor and put it on cool and it’ll take 10-15 min to dry but it’s soooo less damaging. 4.) best thing to do is opt for a heat-free style. I just do simple braids when my hairs damp and since getting a BLUNT cut like you said (BEST advice ever tbh) it actually looks nice with braid waves!! 5.) maintain a blunt cut! Your hair looks damn good with ur cut! I hate these hairstylists w/ thick manes tell me to “gEt lAyErS” cause my hair is thin. There’s just not enough hair to layer, and since it breaks easily I go to the salon about every 6 months to maintain the thick ends of my straight-acorss cut. 6.) use conditioner and LEAVE it in @ the ends. I don’t fully wash all my condicioner out. I leave it in at the ends so my hair is nice and detangled, as thin hair likes to knot. Sorry this is so long but I’m so passionate about this topic! All the beauty youtubers either have thick hair or hair extensions and no one ever considers fine hair beautiful!! But to me after really taking care of mine and letting it grow out and stop trying to make it something it was not I’ve realized my hair can be beautiful in it’s own unique way: angel- like baby wispy hair, fine and silky, soft to the touch. It’s not something that thick hair has. 😊 good luck and much love for your hair journey!! ❤️

I would also add using a bit of a no-rinse kind of conditioner every time I brush my hair. Since it gets knotted and is really fine it gets really frizzy and damaged if I just brush it out completely dry without any product.

Ya I did the whole layer thing when I was young at the suggestion of many hairdressers. All it did was take away layers of my already thin hair and make it look thinner. Now that I've grown it out ( but not a blunt cut, just long) I look like I have more hair.......because I do.

I can wholeheartedly recoment the Aussie Boost Me Up dry shampoo. It's not expensive, leaves no residue (so it doesn't mater what colour your hair is), really lifts the hair. The only thing is that it may dry out your hair if you use it on a daily basis. I use it only when I know I have a whole day to go and then a dinner, when I go out, or on a bad hair day.

I have baby fine hair, but I also have plenty of hair; too many people confuse fine with thin. I’ve always had to argue with hairdressers over the blunt cut vs texturizing, point cutting, etc, all of which are wrong for fine or thin hair as you point out. I also learned to wear my hair a bit longer than what I actually like because it gives better cover over the crown area and at the nape. I will have to give the dry shampoo a try; since my hair is naturally dry I figured it would make it too dry.

i buy a heat protectant cream through my stylist. it’s expensive, but it’s a massive bottle and one has lasted me multiple years. it’s the l’anza healing colorcare trauma treatment with flower shield complex. it is similar to a leave-in conditioner, keeps my hair healthy even after coloring and bleaching, and is an excellent heat protectant and detangler. i use it fresh out of the shower and it works wonders. i will say, it does weigh the hair down a bit but if you use just a dime-sized dollop (not even close to a full pump) you can really just distribute the smallest amount and still get all of the benefits. it literally feels and looks like there’s nothing on my hair because it soaks in so well, and once you brush it out before and after drying, it has the silkiest, shiniest finish and feel ever. i’ll search for a cheaper dupe :) but this is my 100000% recommendation

Blunt cut made the biggest change for my fine very thin hair. And also not letting my hair grow too long because it's thin and breaks alot - when too long it only looks even thinner. It looks much healthier and thicker at medium length, touching shoulders. I still get weird looks from hairstylists when I ask for simple blunt cut, but I don't care anymore. I know my hair and its needs 😁 I also do henna and indigo which thickens and conditions my hair but that won't work for everyone because the choice of colour is limited.

My hair stylist and literally everybody recomend this but I personally hate it. I am 16 and when I was 15 with a blunt cut, people literally thought I was ten years older! Like hell. Long hair? Bad. Short hair? Looks also bad and I hate it. My bff has thick hair and looks like a Model and here I am struggling. Even my younger siblings have thick hair while I stand jealous. Sorry to pour my problems here, I don't even know why I do it. 😕

About the layers - I totally agree. It seems like people automatically want to cut layers into my hair to make it “fuller” also with my natural wave it never laid right. Since I stopped layering my hair, it looks so much better. It’s getting long now (halfway down my back) so I might in the future add a layer towards the bottom but other than that - NO LAYERS! 😊

Dannah Ossi. 30 mins?? Mine drops out as I walk out of the door!! Even the shape round my face.....it turns itself up and out by the time I’ve paid and walking out of the door. Shaping/curling/waving? What’s that? I had perms for years and just scrunch air dried. Now, I just cannot be bothered as I’m 81, live alone and see no one - especially in this pandemic lockdown. So I just get it blunt angled bob cut with a fringe every 2 months. That may sound quite nice......but not with me....I can do nothing with my ultra fine, extremely thin, dead straight hair. Always been the same. The bane of all my teen and 20s, 30s life. I was bald until I was 4 yrs old!

I have to say I’m happy I found this. As my hairstylist has been pushing layers on me to recommend it to look thicker; however 5 years (maybe even longer now) I really wish I didn’t. My hair is so fine and thinner looking even more now. I so deny doing layers I just really hope I can grow out my layers more, get more vitamins (as I am not the healthiest person either) and get my hair looking thicker again. 🙏🏻🙆🏼‍♀️

So I have fine hair, but A LOT of hair- is anyone else like me? I love your cut, but if I don't have layers, mine is THICK but fine and looks heavy and I can't do anything with it. I did find a hairdresser though that doesn't resort to only layers to help- I do have them, but she focuses on taking a bit of hair out of the interior of my hair to lighten it up without using layers. Does that makes sense? But I feel like my hair look like your before picture a bit.

1) Dry Shampoo? Have you ever read the ingredients? I don't think that it is healthy. Use baby pillows instead. 2) Curls are definitely a game-changer, but don't use curl-irons, it damages your fine hair and makes it quite flat.

I agree with everything except for the conditioner. If I don't use conditioner my hair has so many flyaways and if I don't comb it every 10 seconds it looks terrible! Not only that but I am a huge fan of the way it makes your hair smell. People don't realize how pheromones work and they think if they spray on a bunch of perfume that they like it doesn't even necessarily go their pheromones, and then everybody else likes it too! How many times right after you wash your hair does your boyfriend or any other guy say wow your hair smells really good! Yes I think that good smelling hair well attract the boys like magnets! And no good feeling shampoo doesn't do the trick it never lasts. It's all about the conditioner. Anyway, sorry so long, but who has suggestions for good conditioner with thin hair, that smells great, with the I smell that last?

Yes to the no layers! Like you I grew up getting layers all the time. My hair is fine, thin and wavy. After a few bad haircuts that made me look like I had a mullet I finally ditched the layers and my hair instantly started looking fuller. Instead I usually have my hair framed around my face and do bangs to add some dimension but I refuse to do layers! Also I swear by the biotin and collagen shampoo by ogx if you’re looking for something cheap. After I started using it I didn’t need to use any products after and it made my hair look fuller. Biolage is also good but pricey.

I think that the issue is that your hair does grow, but the ends snap. It might be dry, so maybe a conditioner would help. Maybe drink more water too (helped for me). And yes, multivitamins and keratin could and should also help. Oh, and it also might be that you just need different hairstyles. Some just help the ends of the hair to snap off. But to be certain what's really going on with your hair specifically it's better to see a doctor and have some tests done.

@@Serena290182 Tysm for and sorry for the extremely late reply, you’re exactly right with the water, I wasn’t hydrating very well causing my hair to be unhealthy. With the conditioner you suggested I don’t think it will make a difference as I swim competitively, so basically every night I’m going swim training and washing my hair so that’s most likely why my hair is how it is due to exposure to chlorine and constantly being washed of its natural oils. Thanks for your suggestions though!! It took me so long to reply that in this time my hair dresser informed me of everything you said :) Oh and I’m that time I’ve tried different hair styles such as braiding my hair rather than tying it up all the time (which causes the hair to rip) and now my hair is slowing thickening !! I’m sure it will lengthen in time, but for now I don’t mind short hair as most of my friends told me it would be weird to see me with long hair.

Thanks for this, another tip do not brush your hair when its wet its at its most fragilest time and well it upsets the hair especially if got fine hair. I sure do drives me mad sometimes ha. And deffo be very careful with how much product is used on hair as there can be build up. And also wash that brush. One thing i noticed with my shoulder length fine hair, is if i dry it in partings like bit by bit rather than going all in blowdrying it or just letting it dry naturally also is great for it, its happier and just be kind to it treat it with patience and respect :)

That is only true if you are over-processing fine hair. It actually responds well to dye because it's less dense to begin with and accepts color faster. Just don't change your color constantly or double process your hair regularly and you won't get excess shedding.
