Hey Gohar! I'm in Highschool and looking back at your videos I've learned a lot from you and have gotten more courage than I ever had before because of you. Keep going and post more videos. Thank you so much!

The major problem, for me at least, is that I keep stopping doing things I like simply because I think I'm wasting time by not doing things that look "competitive" for admissions officers. I've realized that it is much more important to do something that you are passionate about than doing what you want others to think you do and enjoy.
@goharsguide
@goharsguide 9 ай бұрын
YES!! Also, the things that you do just for fun (i.e., the things that don't look "competitive"), actually tend to be the activities that stand out the most. I'm a huge proponent of pursuing fun, "quirky" hobbies in addition to the more traditional activities

This video really help me and i was always so scared of trying to stand out becuase for me i feel like the standard for me being asian, im always veiwed as "smart and noting else" so i was embarassed of getting a 95 percent of getting a b in math or lutterly doing anything wrong because i would think that im not living up to the standard as my culture and my family heritage. It felt like i was a puppet or somthing that should be represented as a avarage standard and what ever i did wrong was hurting my reputation. Im still trying to be myself with other people becauase i usally keep myself hidden and unseen and your videos help me out alot so thank you❤

@@584asmr4good I was not like that and I am still not like that I try to fit in because nobody ever notices me I spent 5th-7th grade being the one kid that never hangs around anyone books kinda started to become my friends in 8th grade i gave up hope at the start of the year I had 5 friends I ended with 3 this year I started with 5 and I am going to end with 8 1st year I have actually gained friends I’ve had a hard life I’m a military child and I think I have some childhood trauma I can’t wait to go to college and get away from my bullying brother and my parents say it’s just because he’s a teenager but me and him have just been getting more and more distant the last time he said he loved me and actually wasn’t forced to say it was in early November

@@Hp_pjo_twilight_hungerGamesFan I kind of relate to this. After my father's passing, I started focusing on things other than the ones that my family members had done so far, I learnt English, I am opting for maths in 11th, I learnt programming and all that stuff. But when I talk about this to my family members, The just make fun of me. Even if they are happy for what I've done, They Just laugh at me and idk why. On the other hand, A Few friends that I have in school, Are the ones who keep motivating me to not give up just yet. Idk why but my life is just going the other way around rn

It's funny how a few of these comments are made by underaged people but they're still more mature and understanding than some adults. I feel adults are too fixated on their title as adults and undermine teens and kids in general. Lets give them a chance before shooting them down, shall we? (As a teenager myself, I've seen how some passionate and spirited peers were just shot down because they're "just kids")

funny thing is that from like 10-14 i was always trying to fit in and caring abt what others thing. As ive turned 15 and now approaching 16, ive sorta stopped. Its a phase for everyone and just embrace who you are because realistically, that one kid in ur class is the most insignificant thing in ur live. 2:23 a good example to back it up is a guy called Daniel Ricciardo. My f1 fans can back me up but his very jumpy persona and his kinda weird celebration (drinking champagne out of his sweaty shoe) would seem weird but its what makes him so well remembered among the f1 community.

Have you heard of atomic habits? The basics are that small changes in routine can impact your life a lot, whether it’s limiting time on social media, or going on three walks per week. You want to act like the person you want to be, and adopt the mannerisms of that person at the finish line.

I love the tip that it’s “not too late” I started on my competitive sailing team as a 15 year old freshman after Covid. I was very nervous as I’ve never sailed before or remotely even looked into it. However I worked hard and pushed myself to learn all I could and did summer programs as well as every regatta my school participated in. I’m a senior now and a captain and although I’m not amazing I can hold my own and beat college sailors and people that have been sailing since they were little. It’s been such an incredible sport and passion for me that I’m going to continue fostering my love for sailing as a summer sailing instructor at the place my team sails out of this summer!

You can also mow lawns, pick up dog poop, shovel driveways, and walk dogs -Do a lot of hobbies to find what you like, I love 3d printing -find out what you like to wear and spend a decent amount of money to look clean and good. This video genuinely helped me more than anything my teachers have taught me as a thirteen year old student. Gohar touched upon many points that I feel relate to my experiences, and this video provided me with clarity. My family and friends often regard me and my interests as “weird”, but I have slowly been coming to terms with it and pursuing my interests, just as this video stated. But the mindset that this put me in led me to notice and personalize the accomplishments of others. When I talk to the math prodigies of my class, I compare myself and wonder why I am not farther along like them. Even at the thought of a science faire, I wonder how I could ever compete with them. Life has turned into a competition for me. However, this video helped me realize that the best thing to do is to tune out others and focus on my progress. Other’s achievements and opinions are not my concern and I should pursue what I am passionate about. I have said this time and time again but thank you Gohar and others who can understand and aid us in these confusing times. They can be quite tough and tedious to endure, but know that as long as you are willing to commit to your goals and put in the effort necessary to achieve them, good will come out of it. Lots of love to you all and keep going! ❤️

As a fairly optimistic teenager, I have surely struggled with balancing all the things in my life, but it is comparatively less compared to my friends. For me, the major problem is consistency. I have a routine, I follow it strictly for the first day, only half for the second day and then I give up on the third day. This has definitely been a huge barrier that's keeping me from topping in my classes.

Lot of time I was spending thinking how to be like others and I tried to hide thinks I like to do instead doing them, for example I like to do math but than people often used think that I am that nerd in a class and someone who knows everything and that made me kind of depressed, but now I realise that I can do whatever I want and that I should not care about what others think, thank you Gohar beacuse you helped me and a lot of people❤❤❤

For me the problem is everything I try doing I lose interest easily and leave being just average in it. There is nothing left (among the skills I learned) where I m actually special at or enjoy doing

This was helpful, but I don't even know what I like that's even useful in the world. I like making music, but I struggle to put the time in. I like playing video games like Rocket League, but it won't get me anywhere. All I have to show for myself is grades and it's upsetting because I don't even know what my passions are anymore.
