We do love this type of content Ali! Hearing your genuine thoughts and realizations! One thing I'd like to see more of are videos of you talking about different topics based on scientific research, much like how you did it in your book! You did a great job breaking down the results/finding of these studies in your book, would love to see those in a video format! ❤

Would you have any tips on if you have handle that kind of barrier before in life? would love to know

I loved this video. Genuinely took notes after so long: 1. Just get started, think later 2. Enjoy the process, 5K subscribers or 5M, you're still the same person with same interests (I read the blog post too - the day I became a millionaire) 3. Add friction to overcome bad habits, remove friction and make obvious to create good ones 4. Progress comes when you're having fun 5. Less (3-5) projects is more progress and fun 6. Ok to leave money on the table, don't get so serious that you forget to enjoy the journey These advices are accumulated from your real life experiences over years, which is why I know these are fundamentally important. I'm 22, super grateful to have a channel like yours to follow. Ngl you might be my favourite youtuber. Been following you since the early days of the pandemic, you're the reason why I got obsessed with notion. You made studying cool, blew my mind. I'm proudly an "og fan", I could say I've seen your journey. Always been one of the first people to click when you upload. You are genuinely a friendly big brother figure. Will always be here no matter what man, keep growing🍀

The first point is a big one for me. I always like to plan excessively - the strategy has to be clearly laid out - and it leads to burn out. The task then seems so large to accomplish that I may not even start executing. Having a bias to action before a well laid plan, at least in the first-to-second sprints of the project might be fruitful. I would try it and share feedback. 😊

I have followed your channel for years, and have found value in your different styles of videos (e.g., book reviews, podcast interviews, productivity methods, personal life stories/reflections). I will say that I have always been drawn to the latter, especially with folks like you who genuinely talk about the inner psyche at different stages and milestones in life (I probably connect to stuff like that most because I value depth, spiritual awareness, and because I have always been fascinated with psychology lol). I find it normalizing and encouraging to hear that even those who have achieved so much can still get those self-critical thoughts that try to creep in that you have to manage as well. You also seem “most free” when you are able to step out of metrics and lean into content that gives you the most joy...a freedom that I hope for anyone trying to step into these online spaces, but I understand that balancing metrics and what you may naturally prefer are just part of the reality for any creator. Thanks for “showing up” and proving such great content in all of your growth stages! 🙂

I’m 22, a recent college graduate, and I got my real estate license at 19, but I’ve been struggling to find my internal happiness. I’m starting to do real estate full-time. My mother is also an agent who got her license around the same time as me, and she’s killing it. Still, I’m struggling to find fun in the process of being an agent and someday making a business to become financially free. Every day, I feel disconnected from my work; I don’t feel like I’m good enough to be successful; I feel like the character traits I was given were not meant to be a successful in business, and I feel like time is going away so fast. I’m not sure if anyone else feels the same way or is going through these issues, but your lessons on having a bias toward action and, even more importantly, trying to figure out how to make the process fun have really changed my perspective on stuff.

Only some people are cut out to be a real estate agent. I was a full-time real estate consultant for over 10 years, and I felt disconnected from my work and the people in the industry. I felt the same as you that perhaps I didn't have what I needed to be genuinely successful even though I had reached the upper management level. Many years later, I stumbled upon a project that, for the first time, I experienced a deep connection and passion for. The hours flew by, and it didn't feel like work. For once, I experienced a surge of energy I never felt before in my previous career. You have the traits to be successful when you do something that is the right fit for you.

Though I've some idea about my next step, I'm still very much unsure. Video i'd like to see: When would you give up on the idea of a project/goal if you find yourself continuously procrastinating on a thing you tell yourself and anyone that will listen that you really want. When do you have the hard talk with yourself and accept maybe you can't achieve what you want even though all the pieces to do so are literally right in front of you (experience, technical ability, etc) but you just continue NOT to 'put the pieces together' through fear/self-doubt/something else. OR How do you get out of your own way and just get on with it? I feel like i am the only obstacle to my own success.

7 years ago, I started cosplaying. I fell in love with it. This hobby, which people would often make fun of, underestimate, or say that it's a waste of money, allowed me to grow in so many areas of my life. Through cosplay, I was able to go out of my comfort zone, and learn things that I would've never learned at school. But now that I'm in college in a foreign country, the hobby that I used to do regularly feels like a long lost dream, like something in my distant past... Thank you Ali. After watching this video, I realized that I just need to do it, and more importantly, enjoy the process of it rather than focusing on the goals.

Hey Ali, I have been watching your videos since last year and I feel grateful that I discovered your channel. Videos like these really helps teenagers like me (I am 17 btw) to grow in life and not make the same mistakes that you guys did, or atleast minimize them.

PTYA Cohort 2 student here! I’m surprised to hear you say something about your phase of optimizing your content and losing that “authentic” self that was once in the beginning of the channel. Everyone has the right to experiment and change, but it’s wholesome to see that you’re taking your foot off the pressure of peak optimization.

As someone just starting out my journey here on YT trying to tell stories of my 30 rescue cats and 6 dogs, this is profound, Ali. Thank you for all the lessons, your journey is an inspiration especially to us, the creators. Happy Birthday!

It's amazing you're getting back to being more authentic! I totally noticed that in the last few years its got far too clickbaity and lost authenticity, to the point where I unsubscribed. I didn't buy your book because of it. I'm glad you're getting back to being more real, looking forward to whatever you'll create 🙌

I only found your stuff less than a year ago. I was randomly watching some lady talk about how to do Instagram and KZbin and she directed us to skillshare. I then proceeded to watch all of your videos and not hers... Oops. Glad I found your stuff. I have watched a ton of your material and I was part of your book pre-order group. And then I remembered that I never have time to put my eyes on paper (digital) long enough to read an actual book, so I ordered your narrated version as well. I appreciate all the solid information that you provide. I appreciate the webinars on goals and life planning. I go through them diligently and treat them like homework. LOL thanks again.

I have been watching your videos since 2017 while I was 4th year medical student and you were a medical student too. Your videos were amazing and were also motivating me to do allot of work. Because our system of the medical school is different then yours I graduated a months a head of you. And I was still watching your productivity videos, which are life changing and helpful. I hope we will meet some day in some were and I will thank you the effort you payed to help everyone grow personally.

Hello Ali Abdaal, thank you for this video. It’s a breath of fresh air watching videos like this that are not heavily optimized for the Algos, etc. I wish you would talk about the subject of resilience for a beginner with ambitions and few to no resources.

You're a very inspiring person, and quite honestly, you give me hope for the future. Hope that good things can happen, and more importantly, that we can make them happen. If I had to describe you in one sentence, that would be: "Be the change you wish to see in the world". Happy birthday!

Happy birthday, Ali. This video is an indication that you practice what you preach - focusing on enjoying the process as opposed to focusing on the goal.

Hi Ali, thank you for sharing this video with us. Could you not, this video came at a perfect time for me as I have decided to quit my full time systems engineering job to become a mobile developer in July. The realization that it is better to get less money and enjoy your life is much more valuable than selling your life away for a set amount of money. Thank you again! - Miguel Acosta

I actually took notes when I was watching this video! It's been a long time since you posted such an insightful and fresh piece of content. (Not that the other recent ones were bad, but this one's just too good!) Thank you!

Thanks Ali for this honest video. I've been a follower of this channel since lockdown and I can say you've already changed my life. In June 2023 I started a KZbin channel and got a scholarship of the PTYA. Almost a year later I've learnt so much about KZbin, business and life improvement through your courses, videos and, most recently, your book. A huge thank you to you from the bottom of my heart. You really do change people's lives. Next video suggestion: Step by step process to finding fellow creators that will hold you accountable. I've tried for months but still not found a fellow creator who's keen. Maybe you have some simple process we can all learn and apply. All the best for your future! God bless.

I discovered your channel in jan 2024, and thanks to you, it's been my best year so far. I've never clarified my goals this well or approached my passions with such focus. While others often say generic things, you make us ask ourselves deep but very basic questions that lead us to reflect mindfully. Thank you Ali

Happy Birthday, would love to see a video on how to transition if you have made bad choices and are stuck in a place where you can't enjoy the process etc, or you realise you need to make a change after your journal prompts exercises etc, help with thinking that through and how to be brave in the face of the change etc etc

I feel like the videos where you say "no one will watch this" are the ones I enjoy the most. I'd love to hear more about if you felt financial anxiety as an entrepreneur and how you deal/dealt with that?

Although its bit late to comment, I wanna go ahead without thinking if u would be watching it or not. Have a bias towards action and enjoy the process are the points which I found really useful for me at this stage. I always think what if this doesn't work the way I wanted it to be. Being a fresher at NIT I wasn't able to manage different things on my plate at the same time. I have been experimenting with lot of stuff for past 1 year and when I think about it now, it feels amazing. Although I haven't achieved anything big yet, I have gained the courage to try out stuff apart from academics and have a bit of fun. Thanks a lot sir for ur advices ❤
