Hi Jess! I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you don’t take yourself too seriously. I think maybe whoever is saying all or any of those items arent classy and are tacky couldn’t pull them off to begin with because they take themselves too seriously. I like/appreciate every item you discussed. And if wearing my LV monogram makes me happy or putting a bag charm on my bag makes me smile then that’s all that I care about.

Some of my friends own a lot of real luxury brands but live in their own houses. They have their own houses, drive luxury cars, and do buy real mid-size luxury bags, but anything over $1,000, they buy a *HOTDUPS* bag and keep the money in their pockets.

The classiest thing you could do is be kind to people, and think before you speak. Someone could be the most minimalist/quiet luxury/old money aesthetic dresser, and on the surface ‘look classy’ (by the standards of certain influencers). However, no matter how ‘well dressed’ a person is… imo if they open their entitled mouth in order to treat service staff rudely/cruelly in a classist manner, expect freebies, or a reserved table/special treatment when the haven’t even booked in the first place whilst wasting other people’s time… that truly is the epitome of tacky. I’m comfortable being a minimal dresser myself. I’ve tried other maximalist styles before, but I feel most relaxed and myself in minimal styles. That being said, I do love seeing others have the freedom to have fun in whatever they want to wear. Variety is the spice of life, and ultimately no matter what aesthetic you love… what matters is your sense of humour, empathy, and personality… you tick all three boxes, Jess!

Classy is in the eye of the beholder. I think class refers more to attitude and behavior rather than what you're wearing. And exchange the word tacky for whimsical, especially when you're referring to charming or amusing acessories. 💜

Agree with you Jess! Calling myself out here bc I used to watch all those “how to look classy elegant” videos from other influencers and it also influenced me to “hate” on these items you mentioned. But now I’ve become more true to myself. I still love the Hermes clic bracelet and want them in different sizes. I do not like the Cartier live bracelet just on Personal taste but they could be styled elegantly too. I LOVE bag charms 😂😂😂 I’m also staying my own charm collection inspired by you Stay authentic and true to yourself !!!

I will never think the LV canvas is not classy. The Click Clack bracelet is so lovely. True- the Birkin will be the aspirational bag for years to come! I love your bag charms! They are so whimsical! I think the person wearing the item is what makes anything classy. A “classy” woman can make wearing a brown paper bag classy by the way she carries herself and her kindness, unpretentious behavior. Like would anyone dare say Audrey Hepburn was not classy if she wore any of these items? No! She was the epitome of class and could wear whatever she wanted and elevate it.🌸

Don’t let the “gatekeepers” tell you what classy is, it’s not something you can put on and take off-it comes from within-in my day people went on and on about about being ladylike-and people make things up about such things for whatever reason-anyone can be classy and ladylike no matter how much money they have (or don’t) have fun with your accessories-nothing is tacky if you enjoy buying and having it and wearing it. Also it’s not childish, it’s whimsical.

Having ‘class’, in regard to fashion, is simply dressing appropriately for the occasion. No you wouldn’t go to business meetings with colourful charms hanging off a bag but you might meet a friend for a weekend brunch while wearing every colour of the rainbow. There are many facets to our personality and we express them in different settings. The only thing I’ve ever found ‘tacky’ are super long, acrylic nails - looking at you, Marc Jacobs 👀.

Hi Jess I wear regular clothes (not designer), but use a bag to make an outfit pop. A tennis & thin love bracelet is hardly a “giant stack”. It’s horses for courses, wear what you want as an individual not what some faux “elegant ladies” YT channel deems “classy”. The old money vibe used to be “cream, beige, black & white” & any tonal variation. None of us are sheep, embrace what you love & be the best version of yourself (some days may be a struggle if unwell). Great vlog. Have a fabulous morning, afternoon or evening 😘💐

You have great points Jess! You're right at work or meetings can't rock a cartoon print, but on your time why not? I like some items labeled "quiet luxury" but as a trend it can get extreme. People can go broke trying to embody this as easily as buying too much unaffordable statement luxury. I'm no princess, there's no trust fund or title backing the clothes😂 Why pretend?

ITA re your point about the Margaux… the Birkin is from a well-known heritage brand. Will The Row still retain significance after the Olsen Twins are done there? Who knows! Also, afaik the Margaux isn’t hand stitched, doesn’t have iconic hardware, and I’ve seen some people complain about how flimsy the bag strap attachment area is. I still think the Margaux is a beautiful bag, but for the retail price (which imo doesn’t match the build quality)… I just don’t see it as a ‘future Birkin’. If anything it’s sort of like a current day YSL Sac du Jour. An Hermes Dalvy would imo be a better purchase than a Margaux... sort of similar shape, has a heritage connection, is hand stitched, and cheaper than a Margaux. Definitely a low-key IYKYK bag compared to the viral Margaux.

It´s not "tacky", it´s playful! Elegance it´s a question of how you carry yourself, not only how you dress, because I know very "elegant" people that dress demure and "classy" and are not elegant at all!!! Elegance is not being boring, the same and unoriginal! In the past, classy ladies used genuine fur coats, Louis Vuitton/Chanel bags, pearls and gold jewerly. Now fur coats are not elegant in this modern vision and logos much less... I´m passionate for history and fashion and I don´t participate in this stupid trends dictated by influencers. So stupid! Btw, love your silk scarf. It´s beautiful on you!

I've met so many older classy women who wear monogram LV. I think if you wear a nice bag in any brand you shouldn't roll out of bed and think the bag is going to make up for looking like a mess 😮 basic bracelets are such a nice touch with mostly any outfi.

Classy isn't in what you wear, but how you present yourself. One can be dressed in what is traditionally seen as classy and be a horrible person that no one in their right mind would want to associate with. Also, life is way, too short to worry about that sort of thing, IMHO. Wear what you want, have good people around you and be kind.

Quiet luxury? Why? Flaunting wealth, only upsets the once who have less. - LV monogram is suitable for luggage, but lacking class when used in all other products. Goyard is more expensive and rarer than LV, but still not class. - Hermes H bralette, is a bit last season, new money look and not great quality compared the price. - love bracelets are ok, expensive and classic, to me is class. Nothing tacky about a lady, wearing over $50.000 in bracketed alone. - branded hair accessories, too inexpensive, achievable for everybody, no go. - Birkens will forever be an icon and shout class and money, only once not understanding it, is people who can’t afford it. - a bag charm…!im not into the look, but if one has soo much money to spent on fun, then go ahead! - cartoons? Not classy for an adult. But hey, each to their own!
