The quality is horrendous. The outer layer peels off and it loses its shape in a way I have never seen before on a tote bag. Literally the worst investment to make. Ever.

For your graduation tote, you could fold it down into a flat rectangle type shape and frame it in a deep set frame. Then you have the memory and the visual of your initials and the print but not the damaged parts of the bag 😊

I agree colour choice is so important. I often like bags but know they just won't work with my wardrobe. Surprisingly, I don't like black bags but my heart starts to sing whenever I see a navy blue or green bag and it always works with my wardrobe. Honestly, all shades of blue and green work for me.

What I did was I bought different styles of less expensive brands like Coach and Michael Michael Kors. That way I could test out different styles without spending too much money and once I found out what I liked and/or needed then I went for the more expensive version. Worked very well. TFS. 💕

I do this too! I wanted the Chanel WOC (like the Tiffany blue one, except in black of course) so I tried a less expensive version first to see if liked the style and discovered, yes it’s very good for running around.

OMG I can’t believe you mentioned your YSL velvet toy Loulou in the regret list! I bought the exact same one after you bought it and said it was amazing. I loved it too but never used it once since I got it. Same reason, as beautiful it is, I don’t feel like it goes well with a lot of outfit/ occasions. I just sold it last month.

Thank you Amie for your regular videos which are helping me so much during the quarantine. And not only is this video pleasant but it is also helpful. My biggest regret is my Celine belt bag in the small size for two reasons : first the size is too big for me and second l don't like the stiff handle. Lesson learnt: l am a mini bag girl except for a couple of totes that l love and that l use for traveling. Also 90% of my bags is in the black color. This is because color does matter a lot in matching my outfit. I prefer a pop of color in a skirt or a jacket rather than in accessories. Of course in my opinion! Ciao Bella

I agree it’s good to wait out the hype and carefully curate your collection with bags that suit your personal aesthetic and lifestyle. I’m usually “late to the game” when it comes to hot and trendy bags because I try to refrain from jumping on the bandwagon. Sometimes bags look great on other ppl but they’re not suited for everyone. Great video, it's prompted me to compile a sanity-checklist to run through every time I consider a purchase. 👍🏼 Colour choice is critical! I chose an orange Gucci Soho Disco as my 40th pressie from my parents because orange would take me out of my comfort zone.... And I hardly used it because it didn't go with anything in my wardrobe! Sold it a few months ago, and I really wish I'd asked for red as I find I always want to wear a red bag, and I really miss the Disco! 🤦🏼‍♀️ One day I'll get one.

It stinks when a purchase doesnt work out. I've been very guilty of buying clothes, shoes and bags that dont go with my "real life." I have found your advice to imagine yourself using it and that has helped so much! When I go through my typical outfits in my head and can then envision whether or not I would actually reach for and use it I can justify my desire for the item or let it go.

Same girl. I eventually sold my Goyard tote and found that I also reached for my LV MM...its been 10 years since i've had my MM so it just felt more sturdy and classy to me then the Goyard. That is so true that just because you love a color, that doesn't mean you will wear it or it will go well with your outfits. I generally get items with colors that I like (but not necessarily wear) in slg so I can have them but they won't have to match my outfits :)

Hi Amie, I do agree that a bag should go with one's life style and color choices are also important. I was gifted the Saint Laurent Toy Lou Lou. I picked it up in black leather and although the strap is a little thin, it has been my most used bag after my LV Neverfull. I have a Valentino Rockstud bag that I do regret buying because of the color. I was influenced by my cousin who preferred the blue/grey color over the pink. I should have trusted my own instinct and go for the pink. Great tips and points. Thank you.

Chanel jumbo. Too heavy and the double flap is a pain! Also regret getting my full size Chanel wallet in the Tiffany blue color. Gets dirty too easily so I keep it in a bubble and cannot fully enjoy it 😣

I agree -what a mistake I was influenced by all the you tube videos 4 or 5 yrs go unboxing and reviewing the bag and saying how great it was. Now many have sold it or say they never wear it - but still keep it!! I could not let that much money sit on the shelf and sold mine.

One of my worst fears is regretting a purchase. I feel so gutted for wasting money. I don't ever buy to resell so I have to make sure I love it and I wait at least a couple weeks to months or years before deciding on a big purchase. Funnily enough, when you showed the burgundy velvet toy LouLou, that's when I fell in love with it! Your comparison review between the Gucci velvet and the YSL velvet is what actually made me add it to my wish-list and ended up buying last year! :) I love it and I get so many compliments on it. The velvet and the colour just stands out amongst standard leather bags. Though the only gripe is the maintenance and care needed for the material. TFS!

I think if you want a pop of colour in your bags, Chanel has some of the prettiest. I’m not a huge Chanel bag lover but I do love the pastels and bright colours that they do. That being said I’m highly unlikely to ever spend that kind of money on a bag that I wouldn’t wear often. You can’t go wrong with basic black.😊

Hi Chase! I am new to your vlog chanel and could not believe your #1 worst bag purchase was the LV Lock It in the soft leather. It’s also my #1 biggest disappointment with any of my designer handbag purchases. I also picked the same Galet color. Five years ago her in the USA, I paid over $4200.00, kept it for a few years, and finally sold it on Fashionphile at a huge loss. Such an expensive lesson to learn. I enjoyed your video. Thank you! My only bag purchase regret - Kate Spade Scout, especially the second one. Don't ask why I bought two of them. I was so into how it looked, but it's not the kind of bag I actually like to use, had to learn that the hard way. Luckily that was ages ago and I've loved all of the bags I got since. Kinda wish I had gotten the LV never full instead back then, it was only a bit more money at the time than the two KS bags, but felt like a lot of money to me to spend on one bag, silly - live and learn

I have 2 regrets, that I already sold. The LV Delightful GM is was very big and difficult to access in my opinion The Prada saffiano tote in the pink nude, it was pretty and lady like, I understand that I like more edgy styles.

My bag regret would be the mini lady dior. I was totally swayed by social media, it is a beautiful bag, craftsmanship is amazing, when I did wear it the 1-2 times I get a tonne of compliments but I just don’t reach for it. Didn’t help I bought it in patent leather and I get overly protective about scratching it since patent leather cannot be repaired or buffed out. *sigh* I know... it really is a first world problem but thank you for sharing your bag regrets. When I first saw YSL toy in burgundy velvet at Amie’s channel I was really into buying it but it kept being sold out everywhere and I really wanted. At the end I just bought 2 high street velvet bags- and never worn any of them. I find velvet bags really difficult to style with the whole outfit 😔

From being a former employee of designer, you can’t expect to reach out to a company and expect them to replace or fix your bag complimentary when it’s been used, so in your case how Goyard response was that they can do it with a cost, is very normal. Common wear, from the canvas or leather, corner scrapes and scratches isn’t something they will do complimentary or mean it’s fixable. Great video!

Jessica C I can relate to this - I had actually bought the jumbo one time, then i had second thoughts so I borrowed my sister’s to wear hers for half a day to test out the bag and I found the bag so heavy I immediately took my brand new jumbo the next day to exchange for the medium large. Great idea for a video Amie! My biggest bag regret was purchasing the Fendi By The Way bag. I originally wanted the Peekaboo as a work bag and loved the style and Fendi’s quality and craftsmanship but because it was priced so much higher I talked myself into thinking that a different Fendi bag would suit my needs. I also picked it in a blue colour which was a bit too bright for work. I ended up selling after not using it at all and made a huge loss 😭 Lesson learnt not to settle for a bag even if it’s cheaper if it’s not the one you have your heart set on. Better to save and wait for the purchase, especially because Peekaboo’s were so much cheaper back in 2015 compared to now!!

I think an obvious tip would be to not get sucked in with the IT bags bloggers purchase, questioning looking at your lifestyle is incredibly important how you use it. One bag might be amazing for one person and awful for another as obvious as it might be. Look at your bags you have already the colour and shape will indicate what would work as a higher end purchase ♥️

I once bought a single flap vintage Chanel jumbo. I quickly realized it was too big for me too carry on my shoulder and I was always reaching for my smaller crossbody bags. So after a few months I ended up selling it. Then bought a new Chanel woc which just seems to be too small for me! 😂 thinking about selling it, but the price difference to Chanel mini is so big that I really need think this through. I had the LV Lockit and loved it but there were two problems: it was super heavy, as mentioned, and the glaze that edged the handles softened and stuck to my hands and the leather. This actually turned out to be a factory defect on how the glaze was manufactured. I took it to LV to see if something could be done and they exchanged it for a brand new style! Just FYI.

Send the Goyard to Fashionphile. Doesn’t matter that it’s monogrammed. Use whatever money you get towards a bag you love which then can be your new graduation present. Don’t keep something that makes you cringe when you look at it.

Chanel GST XL, strap too short for me and it didn't sit right as a tote on me. Everyday I try to convince myself that my cerise jumbo flap that I rarely wear is not a regret (bought it on an impulse in the Rue Cambon store while the blood was ringing in my ears lol).

Initially I had my doubts when I saw your review about your Goyard.... but I've got a Goyard tote exactly like yours sans the personalisation. I'm not sure if it's because I bought it late 2019, but the quality has been really good and I use it to work everyday - no wear and tears! I even spilled my coffee into the lining once and I found dabbing it with a wet cloth really helped and it still looks completely like new.

My biggest regret was my Neverfull Damier Azul MM. I hated it--I felt like the straps were too skinny, always slid off my shoulder and the bag itself was too bulky. I purchased it after seeing your video on how much you loved yours even though I thought the straps were going to be a problem for me. I sold it after wearing it twice. Fortunately, because I bought it in Paris, I ended up recouping my money. Lesson learned, what can be great for one person, may not for another and to listen to my inner voice. And I too, bought a pink Chanel (med flap) in that same shade of pink and ended up selling it. Looked stunning on others, but didn't work for me and my wardrobe.

I bought a Gucci marmont mini in Porcelain Rose and never really worn it because though it was my favorite lipstick color it didn't work for my current clothes and couldn't justify buying more clothes and shoes to match it. So I sold it for next to nothing and it was a huge mistake

Chanel Boy WOC. Love the look of the boy but not the bulkiness of it so I thought the WOC would be a great choice. I’ve never used it. I always reach for the classic WOC instead. The classic was my first ever Chanel purchase so that may be why. I think the Prada bag looks great on you. I do understand the desire for less in warmer weather though. I carry very small bags on the daily but find myself wanting to pair even further down, to a wristlet or a cellphone wallet in the summer.

There are 2 bags I regret buying. First is the Chloe Nile miniaudiere- Thankfully was able to sell due to high demand at the time. Second is the Dior saddle- I bought the vintage style during the Dior saddle relaunch, thought I would love but unfortunately just does not work. I have not been able to sell it yet.
