Im super pumped for this and the first thing i said after watching was thank god it at least looks like its not trash but you cant say they have only had a couple of bad games. Hopefully this game is a step in the right direction and sonic can finally be not a joke game that everyone cant wait to see in the 5 dollar bin to weeks after release. I want a good game sooo bad.

James Hess SA1 hasn't aged well but wasn't a horrible game. It was decent considering that it was the first 3D sonic game. SA2 has aged better than 1 but is still decent. Unleashed had some of the best sonic stages as the day time stages which it really looks like Sonic Forces took elements from those day stages and some stages of Sonic Colors. The werehog stages weren't horrible considering that it was the first Sonic hack and slasher. I do prefer the day stages though, especially Spagonia 1.

Lost World was solid when it came to gliches.And Unleashed only had the Werehog because they needed to pad out the game seeing as how Boost only games are very short compared to 2D and Adventure Style games that's why colors was mostly 2D(besides nostalgia);the Wips replay value helped make it longer as well.Basically all Boost games have a "Gimmick"; Unleashed had the Werehog,Colors had the Wisps,Generations had Classic Sonic,& Forces is the same as Generations but with a Custom Hero.

Guys, so the game doesn't look bad. But is it just me who misses the sonic adventure style of gameplay? both 1 and 2 had levels that allowed you to pace yourself and even explore. I feel like every new sonic game ever since has made him too fast to truly enjoy gameplay as the character and look for things. The side scroller aspect is kind of unnecessary also. And bring back the chaos!!!! just make a sonic adventure 3! lol just having that title would generate a new kind of hype.

After they ruined the idea of a Sonic Adventure 3 with Sonic 06 they haven't gone back. Iizuka said that returning to Sonic Adventure level/world design might "take the Sonic games backwards" and that he doesn't want to do it "just because it would make fans happy" [from a Polygon article]. Meanwhile they've reverted to 2D gameplay and literally reintroducing Classic Sonic out of desperation. It's pretty disappointing. Nothing coming out of Sonic today has recaptured the attention SADX and SA2B got from me, and I can guarantee that if they ever make an SA3 I'll be the first to buy it

I REALLY like the way they merged the two previous designs for the Egg Dragoon into one. It's looking great. Although it is my favorite Sonic boss, I don't really like it's inclusion as Green Hill's boss battle, especially with how easy it looks. But, Classic Sonic looks like he plays brilliantly and Custom Character actually looks fun too. I'm not a fan of how 2D heavy the gameplay is looking so far. The 3D gameplay in Sonic Forces is looking BRILLIANT. It's fun to watch, I can't wait to play it. I just hope that SEGA don't neglect the 3D gameplay. I'm loving how it looks. Now Sonic himself (Modern Sonic), HIS gameplay is looking GOOOOD. Maybe it's the fact that we haven't had Unleashed style gameplay (which I consider the definitive Sonic playstyle for the modern era) for over 5 years but Modern Sonic gameplay is making me really excited. I actually like the aesthetics for the game right now but much of it DOES look bland or "lazy". But, the game isn't finished. The menus and stuff will look better when it releases I'm sure. I DON'T like the boss health bar though. It's WAY too small in my opinion and it's placement is a bit...eh for me. I don't mind having the name up there though, it just means that every boss will have a name. Which is more than Sonic Lost World can say *cough*Final boss*cough. I haven't even MENTIONED the small bit of story we have. THEY'RE LOOKING FOR SHADOW. I LOVE THAT. I'm really digging the communicator chat between the cast as well. It feels right. It feels like a large, organized operation that you're part of and I REALLY like that. SILVER IS BACK. And as long as that is done correctly (explained with story reasons), I'll be a very happy fanboy. This comment is already too long so I won't give my opinions on the soundtrack (or soundtracks) for now. Reply of you'd like me to though. : ) Overall, I AM IN LOVE with Sonic Forces right now. Sonic Unleashed is currently my favorite Sonic game but if Sonic Forces is actually as good as I hope it'll be, it might be able to FORCE it's way into that number 1 spot. PokeChiefDude My favorite 3D Sonic gameplay came from Unleashed. I'm dating myself here, but I'm more of an old school Sonic fan, so it takes a lot for me to genuinely like most modern Sonic games, but I distinctly remember having a lot of fun with Unleashed's day stages. That was the most fun I ever had with a 3D Sonic game to be completely honest, and while you'd think Generations would appeal to me; and it did initially lol; modern Sonic's gameplay felt like a step down from Unleashed. I could never put my finger on what exactly it was, but I didn't enjoy myself half as much as I did with Unleashed. What with Mania coming out, I was quick to dismiss Forces due to lack of interest, but after seeing this trailer, the gameplay gives me subtle Unleashed vibes, and I'm tempted to reconsider. My hype is still first and foremost for Mania of course, since that's the Sonic game I've been waiting for for, well, forever. But I'll keep an eye out for any future Forces trailers from now on. If we can get Unleashed gameplay up in here, I just might be interested!

I also LOVE this game. That boss fight with the custom avatar looked SICK!! I am mainly a 3D era fan, but games like Sonic Mania were good too. This game reminds me of Sonic generations, which was amazing and the storyline really appealed to me. Unleashed was amazing too, but so far generations is my favorite 3D Sonic game. And now this story so far sounds like Shadow will be a boss again from generations? And what else is gonna be cool is the Custom Character. I feel like lots of players will love that and I hope there's like a storyline for the custom character where you have to save Sonic or something, but I have to agree with you that some of the gameplay and detail is a little bland, but it is an unfinished game. I would REALLY want this for my PS4 and based on the gameplay I would give this game a 9/10.

Caleb Razzleberry I think a big part of that is due to the devs not sticking to one formula. That's why the Sonic franchise has been such a mess for so long, once it switched from 2D to 3D they didn't know what to do with it, so they keep going back and forth and it just feels like whiplash.

Either the lip sync is being worked on since this is a demo, or the syncing is only for full cutscenes, leaving the in-game conversations seem kinda like Starfox 64. nice to see the 2D/3D in Modern Sonic is still there. I was worried they'd cut that. I loved that blend of the 2 styles. It give us a taste of the old and new. I hope this is good. I loved "Colours" and "Generations". "Lost World" was alright and the less we talk about "Boom" the better.

J.P. Walkman Except boom was one of the tragedies of the franchise; brilliant idea, that got killed off by unforeseen problems. In boom's case, they'd originally developed an incredible game, but got blindsided by the contract with nintendo still being in effect, and the process of effectively 'downgrading' everything meant more than half the game was cut out.

Walkman in my opinion this 2D\3D in modern sonic is not a great idea I think that it should be fully 3D because we already have the 2D classic Sonic in this game, sometimes I think that sonic team is being a bit lazy and should stop with this 2D\3D thing, well... it's not something that will make the game bad, I am pretty sure that I will still have a blast, but I would have more fun if it didn't have this 2D\3D thing! maybe it's because I am a fan of the adventure series, but that's just my opinion, I am still thinking of pre ordering it!

Wouldn't mind seeing them take another go at it but this time, do it right. But I think they just want to forget about the game. I think its because everyone wants something different, because Sonic had a lot of good games. Some liked Sonic 2&3 the most, then you have a group that liked the Sonic Adventures the most, then a group that liked Unleashed/Colors the most, and of course fans the Generations style (Which I think is the happy medium). So everyone complains about how it's not like there favorite. That's my theory,...a Sonic Fans Theory, thanks for reading.

@FiN - I mean, I never said they were a hivemind. In fact my point of the comment, if you read it, was that the fandom is always divided. When every video on Sonic Forces is littered with the same "Oh, typical SEGA, just trying to please the Classic fans. Can't do anything new." As well as "Oh, typical SEGA, with the stupid modern formula again. Why can't they just go back to their roots." both within the same video, you know the fandom's more divided than it should be. If your personal opinions and preferences consist of insulting the game, as well as the company that made it, way before the game is even released, there's probably an issue. But as I've stated in my original post, once they buy the game, their complaints will seize; most likely, at least.
