I am almost 50. I have been riding since I was 7, and I was also a competition motocross racer in my late teens and 20's, and yes, lots of crashes doing that, some injuries, mostly to my pride. I even wore a diamond 1 at one point. What I am saying is that I ride. It is in my blood. I took a few years off during some financial difficulty when I had to sell one of my bikes, but it bothered me not being on two wheels. It didn't take long, however, for me to get back in the saddle and start riding again, scooping up several bikes. I got back into the scene really fast, and forged great friendships with so many fantastic people. Now, my lady rides with me, my daughter who is in her teens rides too, and we all travel with great people and go all sorts of places. I put more miles on motorcycles than any car I have ever owned. I have absolutely zero intention of giving up motorcycling. Proper gear, good training, and practice will keep you safe, and the wind therapy, the friendships, and the adventures are priceless. Keep the shiny side up! MLLH&R

I feel you 100%. My son will turn 15 in a few months and he doesn't want a car..he wants a bike. He wants to ride with me. His mom without missing a beat said "ok". Which i was surprised as he is her baby boy. She won't tell him but she's admitted to me it scares the hell out of her but she knows how much I love riding and she wants to give her son the ability to possibly have something to love and enjoy like I do. He has baseball which he will play through college but she would rather him learn to ride with me next to him versus as a young dumb kid like I did. My son is also excited to go ride with my uncle who we expected to pass away a year ago from rectal cancer. He did ask my dad which is his GPA if my dad will buy another bike if he is riding. My dad said no but then told me he would love to go riding with his grandson and son. So I'm hoping it will get him back on a bike even if it's a trike so my mom is more comfortable being on the back with him.

I quit riding and sold half a dozen bikes and a ton of parts and metal when I got married to a woman with two kids. I began riding again when our daughter reached her teens and she came to love riding as much as I did. I quit again when my wife became bedridden with M.S. more than a decade ago, and got back on the bikes after she died. I hope to ride to the day I die, I've had several crashes over the decades since the early seventies well including a few in "cages". Life is inherently dangerous, "no one gets out alive" is an absolute fact, and the inherent risks on a bike are mitigated by the better view and maneuverability the bike offers. The iron horse still has a place in freedom for me. One of my bikes is less than two decades old, the rest range from twenty-five to eighty-two. They are all investments in freedom I've enjoyed since entering my teens in the early seventies.

Whenever I ride in a car with people they mess with their phone even when connected to their car stereo using carplay and android auto that supposedly causes less distraction. Whether it's changing songs on a streaming service on the fly, receiving phone calls, listening/dictating a message, etc all are things that takes away the concentration causing distractions to driving. The "Pavlov's dog" conditioning with dopamine rush of their narcissism having to reply to messages immediately is making it far more dangerous to drive in the past. I see no solution to fix this issue in the long run, this will only get worse.

At 15 I went under a Mack truck on my dirt bike and lost all my toenails and the bone next to my big toe had to be replaced with plastic. Three months and two surgeries later I was back on the bike. I’ve been lucky enough to hold on to a few of my favorite bikes. Still have my first and only Harley. A 1995 fxstsb springer softail and at this point I’ve had it for more of my life than not. It’s been a great bike, still runs great and has been easy to work on and mod. A 2004 Suzuki GSX750 that has been a lot of fun and still satisfies my need for speed and a 2017 Ktm 690 enduro that I picked up so I could get back into the trails with. The bike I started with was a ninja 650r, had things I liked and didn't. I never quit riding though. Now my kids are older, I have a bit more time, and time is running out( midlife crisis time😅) I bought a scram 411. I enjoy it more than the ninja, it fits me better.

Definitely road conditions have changed the driver's today are under extreme conditions to survive this economy, very little things set off anyone today. I usually enjoy working on my older Harley alot and when I ride I'll find a car to stay around and use them as a block for possible issues, im not in hurry ever. Now winter is almost here. It's time to upgrade and improve things..

The biggest reason that he didnt talk about is the cost! Harleys are expensive to buy and to maintain and thats the number 1 reason most people quit riding now

I still ride at 65 yrs.I own 2 big bores, one of which is a HD Fatboy, the other a big bad Yamaha. My only transportation as a kid in high school was a Honda enduro ( they are called duel sports today) anyway I had a bad accident in high school and came damn close to being killed and I jumped right back on and kept going. Not sure that would happen today at my age but the experience I have now in safely riding was simply not there in high school and contributed greatly to my accident in the first place. How long will I continue to ride? Who knows. I really don’t think about it. I do however believe that the introduction of hand held devices have had a very negative effect on Motorcycling and it’s understandable. Riding safely today requires the highest state of situational awareness in all 360 degrees. Enjoying your ride is not the same as “Joy Riding “, I don’t joy ride because it takes away from your attention. I also minimize night riding. Night riding is simply not safe. Visibility to road hazard’s and nocturnal creatures wondering out into the road are also a huge threat. Wanna take a long road trip? Simply adjust your travel time to daylight hours. That’s how I roll.

The most common reason I hear guys say that they stopped riding is that their wife “made” them stop. Smh. Weak men. You can die doing anything, not just riding a motorcycle. I knew more people who died in car accidents. I knew people who died of a heart attack and aneurysms.

When you add in the high cost of frequent tire replacement on a motorbike, the advantages of higher fuel economy disappear. When you add in the extra time it takes to don and doff raingear, leather, helmets, and boots, the speed advantage of a motorcycle versus a car goes away too.

I quit riding after both myself and my brother dumped ours in the same week. Mother had a come to Jesus meeting with the 2 of us, and we took her advice. 30 years later, my job situation changed, and i got transferred into the motorcycle department of my shop. I needed to test ride the bikes after the repairs and maintenance. I got the bug again to ride. However, after dropping another bike, (i wasn't hurt), i couldn't pick it up. Too big for me. So i decided to find a bike that fit me. Since i worked on Harley Davidson, i wanted a new one. The dealers refused to deal with me. And the prices were insane. I couldn't come to a deal, so i decided that to satisfy my motorcycle bug, i would ride our fleet bikes at work. Problem solved. Eventually we lost our fleet bikes. I don't miss them, the drama, and the situation. I let my motorcycle license lapse.

Hey Bro 👋 I'd really appreciate you making a video about some of the more reputable Aftermarket Parts Manufacturers of both Replacement and High Performance Harley-Davidson Parts!!! Most people I've spoken with, (many who have been riding for years) in reality do not know about for some reason... 🤔😳 These Manufacturers produce parts which are either equal to, or superior to, Original Equipment Harley-Davidson/Screamin' Eagle Parts, at a more affordable price point!!! Much Appreciated 😊🙏 Just Sayin'🤬

Im 55, been riding since I was 6. Im giving it up. I lost my shifter leg 2 years ago. I put a hand shifter on my 2017 Ultra but as I get older Im finding it harder to hold the bike up. (my other leg has issues as well) I considered buying a smaller bike and with BMW KTM and Yamaha offering automatics for 2025 I was tempted. That said I really dont ride much anymore, the cost of bikes nowadays, and the general public doesn't pay attention on the roads these days so its just not worth it. As much as I hate to do it, I think I'm done

Reasons for stopping make sense here. But getting new riders is pretty tough when a good chunk of riders in public are straight up douchebags or just dont want to be bothered with. I went to a Harley dealer years ago to get info and insight. Felt like it was a problem for everyone in there just because I didn't "fit the look". I even knew if i walked out with one it'd be the iron 883 for obvious reasons. Its not as inclusive as everyone online wants to think it is. Ridiculous how annoying and close minded the older crowd is to newer riders.

I'm super stoked abt the givawat on the Iron 883. On older videos mentioning the Scout Bobber giveaway, you say just under $50 gets you 6 months membership to Hegshot Nation. Just followed all the links to sign up for the Iron 883 giveaway and now it's only ONE month for abt $50? Is that right? $600 a year for Hegshot Nation? I signed up and have started exploring in there, but that's a 600% price hike annually. I support creators I like, but hoping this was a mistake on the giveaway website. Please advise...

I think most of people quitting has to do with the inability to learn more skills whether they want to admit it or not. People get lazy and stop practicing safety drills and skill riding. They stop taking classes or never take them. Without getting better people lose the drive to get out and ride. Getting better, learning more skills, and taking classes will allow you to avoid 98% of accidents. After learning this everything else becomes an excuse

I would like to know why someone would buy a motorcycle, then not ride. I regularly find deals on places like Facebook Marketplace of people who put maybe a couple of thousand miles on a bike, if that, then try to sell it. I found one listing of a girl who bought an MT03, rode it home, then decided to sell it. Literally the only miles on it is her ride from the dealership to her house. How does the phenomenon happen?
@RoadKing-ky2bs3 ай бұрын
Because people get swept up in the excitement of buying a motorcycle, but then get buyer's remorse or they are scared to ride it. Most of the times they get talked into buying a bike by a friend, family member, or even a smooth talking salesperson. Or they buy with the intention of riding, but then other priorities take center stage, cutting short their availability so the bike just sits in the garage for weeks or months. So many different circumstances.

I want to get back into riding a bike. I'm sooooooo tempted to go and get one. But I'm scared to get one again. Why? Because of tinnitus. Ringing in my ears 24/7 day and night. It started after I took a ride for about an hour one day. I took off my helmet and my ears were ringing. That was 8 years ago. And if anything it's got worse over the years (mind you, I work in a very noisy environment but I always wear hearing protection). That's the main reason I stopped riding. The temptation is always there to get back in the saddle, but will it make the tinnitus worse????? No-one can cure this, and no one can give me the answer to this question. If you can hear crackling wind noise around your crash helmet when you ride PLEASE get some ear plugs! Don't get tinnitus.

I wanted to take a short spin around town today and after an incident that happened in my car yesterday I just said forget it, I’ll take the bike out when I plan out a longer ride. I’m getting real discouraged lately.
