I can’t defend the countless lifeless colorways and collabs Nike keeps releasing to satisfy what they mistakenly think the customer is craving, but hear me out friends! I refuse to fall out of love with classic Nike/Jordan silhouettes just because tik Tok and the burbs got ahold of the dunk low, Aj1 high, and Af1 without any knowledge or respect for the culture. From the grown man who finally bought his first pair of Js bc they couldn’t afford any when he was little and his hustle is finally paying off… to the kid who only got one pair of forces a school year bc that’s all his mom could afford and he had to keep ‘em clean with a toothbrush bc that was all they were getting for the year. I’ve been both people and the feeling of lacing up a crispy pair of nikes/Jordans is still undefeated🏆 my favorite lows are the 13s, 11s and 14s. With that being said wear what you wanna wear! Don’t be mislead into thinking something you like isn’t cool just bc that’s somebody else’s narrative. Can totally agree to your post. Everything is relative. In EU Airmaxes & Adidas where much more dominant then Jordans. In my circles Jordans were rare and tbh nobody cared about them. The video can be a great inspiration for anyone who wan't to get off the Nike needle.

Love Asics/Onitsuka Tigers. GLIIIs make up most of my collection with 20 pairs and the Mexicos are great shoes for driving. Can throw in the Tiger Corsair that only a few people would recognize as the real “OG Cortez” before Nike

I think the Onitsuka Tiger Tai Chi is far better than Mexico 66. It removes all the unnecessary clutter from the 66 and gives it a more premium look and they are the Kill Bill/Bruce Lee shoes which gives them a great characterezation around them

Tai chi silhouette is a bit off putting for most as it’s a bit “too slim”. The Mexico 66 checks a lot more boxes: has more familiar build AND some people actually like the “clutter” of the 66. It allows for more variations which is why it was chosen over the tai chi.

Same about CP but it's quite more expensive (and popular) so I get the choice for this list. FWIW I think the clean 90 is the only minimalist white sneaker that has an equally good - but different - design than CP achilles low. Every other alternative (Oliver Cabell, Koio, etc.) just looks like a lamer and cheaper CP.

The German Army Shoe was originally invented by Dassler Shoe Co. Both brothers split to create Adidas and Puma respectfully. Adidas even released a version called the BW Army a few years back. Love my Dunks, Shell toes, and Campuses, but can appreciate other models. I've gotten back into the Puma Suede recently and love everything about it. The color range is crazy, super cheap, and comfortable enough (to me at least) to be cool in there for 12 hours a day. I wasn't sure how the Gel Lyte III would look on my feet since I have larger ones, but will check the shoe out after seeing them in Reggie's hands.

For a low cost dress casual sneaker that’s my current beater shoe Cole haan Grand crossscourt 2. I have em in all white and all black. The leather scuffs up easily but their comfort and lightness level is insane. I just add a scuff cover on my white ones from time to time and keep wiping them with baby wipes. Amazon has em for $50-70. Cheaper than Nordstrom rack sells them for. I also found another white sneaker that was promising That was a Lacoste stan smith like shoe. I can no longer rock vans or converse and really prefer shoes with some toe box space so hmu if anyone has any good suggestions. I do love a dunk low though. And my current black canvas ones have been my other summer beater shoe. May only buy canvas or suede dunks/af1s from now on. The crease life ain’t for me

Wow you read most of my mind, the OT Mexico 66, Salomon XT6, the Gel Lyte 3, the GAT, and the NB 327. I may disagree on the others for the Puma Suede, I mean like how can you miss such a historic and iconic shoe. Then the New Balance 9060. Finally the Puma Clyde. The New Balance 480 has to be said too, Jordan's shoe in his earlier shoes, the original Jumpman shoe, now repositioned as a skateboarding shoe, although some may view as NB's version of the Dunk.

Onitsuka Tiger New Yorks are twice cheaper (maybe even more) than popular Mexico and have the same nylon upper as vintage Adidas Hurricane from the 70's. Super comfortable.

GL3s are my favorite silhouette currently. I'm a sneakerhead with hundreds of shoes. Some hype, some not. Plenty of Jordans, Dunks, Yeezys, etc, but my GL3 collection is growing the fastest (up to 10 now) and my most worn daily shoe. They are very comfortable. It's firm, but soft feel that is ideal if you're walking or standing all day. The CWs are great and there is no shortage of collabs. Also the hype isn't quite there, so often, I can just get pairs at retail and on sale. My only beef is Asics Canada simply doesn't bring many GL3 CWs to Canada. Might be time for a road trip to the US.

I've always been more of an Ultimate 81 guy when it comes to Asics. May get a pair of the Mexico 66s. And I never knew that about the GAT. I thought it was an original Maison design that others copied. May finally buy Oliver Cabell's version. I've been tired of Nike for awhile (over 10 yrs). My main three now are a pair of Onitsuka Jumpas in Red, Diadora Conquest Eclipse (asymmetrical, but not clownishly so), and a white/grey pair of Axel Arigato's Area lo.

It's both interesting and a relief to see the fashion hype die on nike and streetwear. My roots are deeply ingrained in basketball and skate culture, I will never not love jordans, supreme, palace and of course nike sb dunks. That connection with the culture it was keeps me attached to that style. As an observer and enthusiast of fashion, it's interesting to see those that were so big on streetwear now move away because from day one, they never had an established connection to the culture that it came from, and now they're moving onto the next trend and once that dies, they'll move onto the next one after that.

Well there are two sides to that coin. I for one NEVER owned an sb dunk nor an Air Force one but I would still count myself close to the culture of street despite my forays in the upper reaches of the fashion industry. I have my gripes with how the culture of street was mishandled BUT I understand the appeal and due to its adoption there’s far more recognition of that culture. IMO it’s time for the stalwarts of that culture to explain it better than the fashion industry ever did. My job is to educate those that DISCOVERY is far better than mindless following. And that it’s heart is what makes street what it is.
