One hundred percent you’re right that she’s such an inspiration! Just a gentle reminder though that I’m sure Angie has days where she’s not “gorgeous” in the all dolled up sense too. And, everyone has days where they may feel less positive. Just like the rest of us. ❤️ just want to take some of the pressure off that is so easy for us to put on.

@Pretti Pati ♡yes i agree... i havent had a easy time of it since I became a Momma 4yrs ago. Life hurts and is SO hard at times... but my children are my life and they literally keep my heart in one piece. ♡It's all about perpective and the condition of your heart and the choice of attitude and outlook as to whether children are a burden or not. It's a honour to be a Momma. I waited for years to get to be one. became one at 29yrs old♡ still cant believe Im getting to be one!! ♡♡

@Pretti Pati well as a mother of 3, I had my first son at 17 and I missed out on my childhood and I can understand parents who act a little dramatic sometimes it doesn't mean they are over parenting he or she is probably super exhausted and needing time for themselves so they can come back on a positive note.

Angela, thank you so much for this reminder. I was literally just sharing with my husband earlier this evening that in recent weeks I have felt overwhelmed, stressed, run down and that it is stealing my joy and affecting our entire home including my kids' attitudes. This was such a timely message for me to hear. Thank you for creating a space on KZbin that is real but also full of encouragement, positivity, and joy.

Running is my self care - as a strong introvert homeschooling four littles, it is mental health just as much if not more than physical health. I do love getting in a few runs a week solo - but have so enjoyed sharing my passion for running with my kids! My three oldest started cross country last fall and are able to run up to 3 miles with me! We throw the 4 year old on her bike and enjoy outdoor movement together! I love running but sharing this with my kids has only deepened that.

Thank you for the reminder. I am a first time mom (baby is only 8 mos old) and because of the exhaustion i felt like I have lost me. I don't even have time to take a bubble bath which prior to being pregnant I enjoyed very much. I love getting ready too but i haven't had the chance to put makeup as well. I felt so drab haha. I hope when my baby gets a little bigger and I am not needed 24/7, I would be able to find me again. 🤞

Thank you for sharing. There is so much good advice in here. I think it cannot be said enough for moms who are going through a tough time. Especially when we feel guilty from trying to balance life and work we tend to put ourselves last. I especially love the advice to rediscover hobbies and starting off small. Little things make such a different and good evidence for us to know that the world doesn't fall apart just because we gave ourselves 30 mins time out. Recharging ourselves through self care sets a better tone for the rest of the day.

These tips are excellent. My brain is toast so I took notes. I love your approach to momming, I come from a similar attitude. One part that really resonated with me was the bit about how social media makes motherhood look horrible. I have removed myself from social media because I value my sanity lol, but while I was there I did notice that I saw very few positive things about motherhood. The sarcasm and day drinking really bothered me, I guess because I grew up neglected and I feel like keeping your children is a choice and it’s okay to commit fully to it for the time they’re growing up. All those sweet kiddos are going to grow up and see their parents’ sarcastic posts online and maybe feel undervalued. Gosh I’m sorry, I digress! So sleepy 🤣 thank you for your optimistic content, it is so much more helpful to me personally than commiserating without pulling each other up!

Hi! Thank you for this video. With 4 kids ages 2-6 yrs, I struggle with this. Great ideas and ways of thinking about self care. I normally hear, as you said, more bubble baths and manicures! Well, I do not like baths. And, as much as I struggle with this, but totally agree, sleep is the magic elixir of life! Thanks again for your really great perspective on self care and the time you took to make this video!
@jenw83232 жыл бұрын
Love all these tips! And totally agree with your take on self-care. It shouldn’t be a selfish, entitled thing that wrecks your day when it’s interrupted or doesn’t happen, but we do need to take care of ourselves because motherhood is important, and because we matter. How we do motherhood matters and our families need us to take care of ourselves. And an attitude of martyrdom is not helpful or healthy for anyone.

I need to start small like brushing my hair everyday. Sad but true. I received a gift certificate to a nail salon about 2 years ago and it it expired in my wallet. I see homeschooling mom videos and their makeups done, their clothes are nice and matching and their hair is in a style. I need to start there, with that as a goal. Make it a point to at least feel put together everyday even if everything else is falling apart.

Now that I have watched the video... I can comment on the content of it. I am not a mother, but I am the type of person to put a lot on my plate, I work full time while studying full time (law and psychology). I have been trying to include more self care, so after watching this video i decided to take my study outside and sit at a table outside of my apartment near the pool to read some studies.

Phew! Please will you do a video on "Asking for Help" ... it's so hard to do... maybe get some feedback from others on areas of needed help or resources that can help if you're secluded? It's been so hard to learn to ask or learn to let people help me. I grew up being taught to be tough and "no pain no gain" and our family didn't share our trials with others either. I have health problems that make my endurance and energy low... so it's also hard to validate asking for help as I just wish I could do what other "normal" moms are capable of doing. One area that has been a huge blessing though and hasn't been challenging to accept is freezer meals. No one has to know about the awful day or suddenly drop what they are doing to come help... or come into my mess during family sickness... the meals are there to help when those days arrive. So helpful. ❤

Maybe a video about tips for actually asking for help or getting people to watch the kids so a mom can get out of the house to do something. I know several women who are sahms who have no one to watch their kids. An example: a friend has 3 toddlers and a baby, her husband works 2 jobs and is gone a lot and her mom and sisters say to her "you chose this life, you wanted to stay home with your kids so stay home." Her mom has told her she would have more time to herself if she worked outside the home and the kids were in daycare or they had a nanny. I literally have not seen her without her children in 3 years because she never gets a break.
