If you live in Vancouver West, especially Downtown, it is remarkably walkable and the public transportation is excellent. I've lived and worked here in multiple locations since 2006. It's a main reason why I find it ideal for raising a family. There are so many places for the kids to walk or bike to or easily catch a bus or vine to, including all 3 levels of school (even Clark College) from where we are. We are actually surrounded by absolutely everything that I can think of in abundance. She's right about the rain and freeway traffic, though.

My parents moved to Vancouver from Longbeach, CA back in 1991 or 1992 because they could buy a home for $90,000 vs in California which was like $300,000. Now you can't get even a fixer upper for less than $325,000 here in Vancouver. So lucky to have bought a home when I did 2 years ago because I fear the market will just get worse and the only way I'll have a dream home is to move to Longview or something more rural. Edited to add: love the views though and all of the nature trails. The weather is perfect for me having been born and raised here and I hope I don't need to move out of the state.

Traffic is from people moving out here..cost of living is VERY high here and I think it’s all the people moving out of here, and the construction here is an effect of trying to fit everyone…
@LivingInVancouverCamasWash2 жыл бұрын
I am sorry to hear you feel that way. I talk to people from all over the country who are nostalgic of how the places they live "used to be". The reality is that people will always flock to places like Vancouver where there are jobs and closeness to a metro (Portland). We do not have enough homes for everyone all across the country, not just here.
@shantel37802 жыл бұрын
@@LivingInVancouverCamasWash It’s not even that there’s so many jobs around here, that’s just not true. My clients everyday lose their jobs, and struggle finding another one. And the commute to Portland from Vancouver to work can take 45 minutes. On a good day. I’m not sure if you’re a realtor trying to get more clients to go this way, but Vancouver and Portland are not desirable in the settings of plenty of jobs. People didn’t start flocking until it became over populated with realtors, and investors trying to build more on our green city and make a profit. I’ve lived here 26 years. Anyone who is from here knows.

That's a whole 'nother vibe but if you into it, you into it I suppose. It's very very Eclectic and weird there, no seasoning in the food there in most places. Honestly I have moments every every so often where do I miss it there for random reasons here and there including some of the greenery and small slight vibes that caught and felt as a black petson but Truthfully, Im sooooo glad I don't live there noo more and would never live there again. I'm in palm trees and mountain views, cactus and the sunsets and sun raises are beautiful fully Poppin off and racism is unfortunately everywhere even Vancouver, wa, as a black woman I experienced that multiple times! And job wise it ain't Poppin at all and never really was. Public transportation is way better where I'm at. Also, in AZ you get way more house for your money even now in 2023 in terms of buying or renting a home. All this is not a knock to the ones who do enjoy living and being in Vancouver wa. And I still have family who still love there to this day. And it rains and looks gloomy all the fucking time. The Summer time with green is a little better but meh 😕😑.
