I used to procrastinate a LOT when I was in middle school, but somehow, during my 6th grade year, I realized just how hard school was going to get, and that the procrastination path that my peers were taking is going to set me up for bad things. I was proven right when I got to high school, being far more organized than my peers and ending up with so much less work just because I organized and did things ahead of time. It wasn't that I didn't know HOW to have fun, it's just that I knew WHEN it was good to have fun, and when it was necessary to have a work day. :)

I procrastinated refurbishing a Victorian loveseat that was over 100 years old for 3 years. I’ve never done such a thing and had no help. It was super daunting and the fabric I got for it was discontinued because the company went out of business. I was dead set on that fabric so I had to make it work. I eventually completed it and BARELY got the fabric to work. It turned out really good and I’m really proud of it. Definitely great for a first try! It isn’t perfect but it was doomed for the trash and managed to save it. Better late than never. I try not to repeat that level of procrastination, but it’s sometimes just out of laziness or trying to be a perfectionist. I’ll get really into it and time will fly by, but I barely got anything done when someone would have been finished with something like that hours ago. That’s always discouraging. My biggest procrastination? Getting a workout routine and being healthier. Lol

I will say what works for me, which might not work for you, and that is okay, but it is still important to discuss these things in order to help each other find ways that are better for us: I am doing my thesis, and it is really delayed. I realized that most of the situations arise from a feeling of self-doubt mixed with fear of failure. It express itself through a horrible anxiety sensation, and sometimes can turn into anxiety attacks. I am doing journaling in order to exercise facing failure and self-compassion, and in order to diminish the anxiety intensity, exercises with mindfulness.

Believe it or not, I am not a procrastinator, not trying to show off or anything, but I really can't do anything at all, not even go to the bathroom, with something not done, there's always the voice in the back of my mind being like "assignment, assignment, assignment, assignment" and I just can't focus on anything until I do all my chores and schoolwork, and that's a pretty great thing actually, there are really no disadvantages to that, I am really thankful I am like that! Also, I agree with the "creative side" I love drawing and writing and I hate it when somebody is like "draw this tomorrow" or "write this story by Monday", it is not in my will to write a story anytime, creativity needs time and freedom, you can't just restrict it, the way I deal with that is start a loooooooooot sooner than the deadline, that way I have time and I don't feel restrictive and I can be as creative as possible!

Oh my gosh! This is a great video! For the longest time, I had no idea why I have procrastinated so much in my life. I believe every one of these reasons has applied to me at one point or another. Sadly, I had planned to write a paper on procrastination in my first year of college for my English class final. It was two days before it was due, and this was the second time I had changed the topic of my paper, but this topic was important to me; it just had to be the focus of my paper. But, like the procrastinator I am, I put off working on it. To this day, it remains the one essay I never turned in. Why didn’t I turn in what I had? I hadn’t started on it yet. I still haven’t. I’m not even in college anymore, but I know I still want to write that essay. I have to. I hate essays with a burning passion, but this is an important paper for me. And this might just be one of those breakthroughs I’ve been hoping for. Thank you.

Trial by fire is the best way to learn and i've always been confident in my skills to work efficiently so i spent the majority of my time both in and out of class gaming on my laptop. Managing Delay is an interesting concept. There is historical precedent for this tactic actually working. In the first week of June 1944, Gen. Dwight Eisenhower agonized over whether to launch the Normandy invasion & was forced to delay due to persistent dangerous weather conditions that made crossing the English Channel almost impossible. Because of tide & lunar patterns, the Allies were running out of their "window" of opportunity which if they missed, would require a wait of several weeks for the same conditions to be present for a rescheduled assault. He delayed & delayed... right up to the last possible hour of the last possible day, agonizing over whether the invasion could be launched given the weather. A slight break in the weather was forecast for 06 JUN. With commanders pressuring him for a decision, Ike painstakingly waited as he pondered what to do. Finally in the overnight/pre-dawn hours of 05 JUN he gave the order: "go" for the next day. It was the last possible moment he could wait without scuttling the invasion plan & rescheduling. He ordered "go" & 24 hours later, the Allies launched the most famous military invasion in history during the pre-dawn hours of June 6, 1944.

Mindfulness meditation helped me to calm my mind under stressful days, but it didn't help me with my anxiety and my cretive block. It was just a temporary solution because I'm inconsistent. Im good at leaving bad habits behind, but bad at incorporing new habits, i find it a bit stressful.

I think i am a procrastinator for both reasons, however when ending date is closed, i feel more creative to accomplish and i get a good result. I dont mean i like to do that, but it happens. However the end of this video make me think another reason for being like this...i m doing activities that i am not interested about any more. Could be simple to quit and redirect my life...but i am 48 and i am talking about what i do for living, specially these days when my job activities got me mentally exhausted (i am university teacher...teacher "on line" by now because Covid. Regards from Mexico.

Deadlines make me nervous. I hate them so much but I can’t work without them. If im not under pressure I break but that pressure hurts me too. I stressed easily when I was still in school and in sports and whatnot, but then once quarantine began every single bad thing that I was too occupied to look at overwhelmed me and I was crying myself to sleep all the time. I was convinced I had depression or some serious mental issue. I think I’m okay now, I haven’t had that in days. And I’m glad for that. I am a huge perfectionist procrastinator though😂

I am such a perfectionist and I procrastinate. I would’ve never known they be related. Thank you so much! 😁
