Visually GSPs are the perfect dog. You give good advice. These dogs become depressed if they don't get exercise and quality time with their people. They are super smart, high-energy, and goofy.

Have two GSPs. Adore them. Beautiful, intelligent, incredibly engaging and biddable if you know what you’re doing. Older one a scent dog who ran marathons, young boy amazing at agility. So many people stop me and ask “what kind of dog is that? It’s so beautiful” And I start telling them why they shouldn’t get one. Not the dog for everyone. But def the dog for me 😊

Where was your video 3 years ago 😂 we were fosters for black 'labrador'. He was always anxious, separation issues, everything. Finally we became his owners since it was obvious nobody wants to manage such gem 😊 now we are working with psychologist, psychiatrist for him and us and it's taking into account we are proactive and careful. The issue is that he is from shelter and first some years he was not with us). For everyone who is thinking about this dog - it's a real companion for you, loving, but not as shepherds do - he will forget about you if he finds smth/someone more interesting) , but he is more than a dog - it's a really separate beautiful word

I thoroughly agree with everything you have said. I have had three GSP’s. They are wonderful dogs: intelligent, easy to train and very affectionate. They are also very handsome dogs. However…….. they run on rocket fuel. If you haven’t the time or the inclination to give them vigorous exercise EVERY DAY, they will wreck your house and your life.

GSPs also tend to have a very strong prey drive, and will hunt all day long. Unfortunately this can make them prone to killing just about anything they can get their jaws on...snakes, frogs, mice, chipmunks, bees, kittens, etc.

Point 1* should be : "IF YOU DONT NEED THEM TO WORK" YOU SHOULD NOT GET ONE !!!!! There is a good reason why in Germany you only can get such a dog if you are a hunter and got the license ! I love these dogs ! but its not all a simple companion dog , som please let these great dogs work/hunt ! Greets from Germany
