I ended up with a Scottish Fold due to my neighbor always leaving her outside… one morning a few year’s ago… I thought I heard some type of cat fight and it ended up being a coyote trying to eat my girl!!! I ended up getting bit by the coyote to save her. I called her owner to explain what happened and she wanted nothing to do with it. So…I scraped enough money together to save her and pay for my hospital visit. My family is blessed to call Special our’s. I’m thankful her owner is an idiot! She’s the sweetest, most loving and silly cat.

@@undertyped1 its not no diseases, its a mutation which causes the ears to fold and it doesnt bring any pain to the cats they live good lives with the right owners. if you mate a fold with another fold than yes you perhaps will have kittens that are defects and might go through pain because when 2 folds mate they mutation that they have mashes up and it creates defects.

I've just picked one up after meeting a few at a cat show. I picked him up from a well respected and certified award winning breeder that I met there, and all of her fold kittens were excellent condition and had lovely personalities. It was incredibly hard to chose one, but I let him chose me. He's been on my lap since I got him home, very happy and incredibly adorable. I would say that if the breeder is good and the cats are well looked after then you can find a lovely little companion in one of these cats.

You’re lucky got a healthy cat from the show, usually people do research for a while in google see the reviews which the breeder can’t deleted the bad reviews. Cats in show which not means they are healthy, the opposite they have dangerous situation that the judge touched so many cats in the day, good breeders don’t go to shows, they protect their animals and they don’t have time for that, busy selling. Lucky you 😄

My Scottish cat is like a guard dog lol he just yells at the cats from the window and then one of the cats approaches the door and screams to keep them away. I feel sorry for those cats because I am used to feeding them and playing with them, and also when I open the door of the house and even if I keep it open for a while, he never runs away. He stands on the edge of the door and just shouts at the cats. I have raised a few different types of cats, such as the Chinchilla and the Shirazi, but the Scotch is completely different in terms of intelligence and calm. If your personality loves calm, I advise you to adopt a Scotch. They are amazing.

I have one but he has arthritis in severe joint pain!!! 60 to 70 percent of them has it, it is a genetic issue, I brought him to the clinic and the vets said it best to ask someone to inject him so he die instead of bearing the pain every day. Easy! Feed it at 7:30 am and play with it for 1 hour or 40 minutes and let it roam for a little! leave it a good amount of food & water for it to be able to feed itself while it's gone! It's probably gonna be napping for a little from inbetween 9 and 11 and it can still feed itself so from 11 to probably 11:08 it will be eating! It also needs to be able to roam around and have toys it can play with by itself and small little snacks around the house and remember cats like quiet time so it's probably fine with not seeing you for a few little short hours

Very very wrong do more research. Yes they are born with osteochondrodysplasia in there ears but if breeders follow proper protocol then it is very unlikely it will spread throughout their body and they are not born crippled and in pain only with the disease in their ears. I have owned 4 folds and all of them lived long happy healthy lives. Do more research

I disagreed with first and 2nd points! I’m Scottish and British cats breeder in USA since 2018! The first and 2nd points are common for all the animals! Not only for Scottish fold! Animals don’t want to be alone and they do shedding, summer shedding more than winter. For any breed of cats, if you don’t comb the hair forever, no matter what breed, you will be surprised! They are expensive, special with ears and face shape, but from their heart and spirit, they are normal cats, they have normal cats need, they eat normal food like other cats, they shed normal amounts like other cats. Your video is misleading people, please correct it, thank you.

the video is about the Scotty fold which of course is a subset of all cats and all cats and all animals need to be treated well. I don't think the creator of this video was excluding care for all pets. I found all the points relevant to my particular cat a Scottish fold I inherited especially. No. 1 - More than many cats I've had over the years which have varying degrees of needing company and some are more aloof. Mine does have separation anxiety possibly as her owner died but she stays with me most of the time. No. 2 d This Scottish fold sheds all the time intensely more than other moggies I've had that didn't shed as much. Yes shed more in Summer but mine sheds enormous amounts. It has a thick soft super coat which I've never seen before in regular cats and brushing is a daily consideration her shedding never seems to stop. This video is not misleading, the fact that they can be expensive doesn't say mean they do not have normal needs. The only thing I would change is the title of the video Title it could be more positive extolling the joys, not the negatives and the negatives aren't many really because these cats are super intelligent and look after themselves very well they ask you for what they want. and are sweet & adorable. One Point missed tho it could pertain to ALL Cats is that I read that this breed is susceptible to developing arthritis my 18-year-old has some arthritis in her front elbow joints sadly. I was happy to see this video it showed me some of the finer points I didn't know about this beautiful breed and is accurate. A pedigree (yes a subset of all cats ) yet very special. I'm pretty sure the video was made to show how special these cats are and the individual care they can require. Cats need Love & Care Universally that's for sure.

She had issues with arthritis rather early, but a supplement I have been giving her has worked great for it (Joint Purrfecion by Liquid Health), it's a beef flavored liquid you can give them with their food. It took a month to have affect, but she hasn't limped since.

Yes they deserve to live, but there shouldn't be born new scottish fold. If you want one, get one from the shelter and give her the life with the least possible pain. Yes there are humans with disability. But no one gets a child with the target of one specific disability which causes the child pain to the rest of its life, just for the sake to look a little bit cuter. Think about it this way!
