I moved away in 1996 and moved to Raleigh NC, but I miss Wichita Falls at times and always look forward to coming back to visit my friends. I wave at people here when I walk my 4 miles through the neighborhood. I am spreading the love in the Carolinas.

My mother and grandparents are from Wichita Falls. Up until age 13 I would fly from Baltimore Maryland to visit my grandparents every summer. I loved going to the Boys Club. Flew into DFW most times. Flew into Wichita Falls twice. Haven't been there in years but still think I would know my way around

I spent 5 months at Sheppard AFB for tech school but due to Covid I never got to leave the base, some part of me wants to come back one day and see the town and go to Dallas as well, I love bbq so that’s number one on my list.

I've lived in Wichita falls 28 years, grew up in Iowa park, I agree about the wind, I remember when my cousin Scott was visiting from Hurst, tx when we were kids and he was griping about how windy it always was,.. it wasn't fun back in my big hair days..😂

I lived in Wichita Falls until 1986 and for the life of me, I do not remember the waving. We actually would laugh at Okies for doing that when they drove into Burkburnette.

You are right about us not waving at each other anymore. But In the 60's this happened all the time. Especially in the smaller towns that surrounded WichitaFalls. I guess it was sometime in the late 70's to early 80's when it began to wane. I always felt kinda of funny waving at strangers anyway. Now days I just post stupid stuff for strangers to wave off.

When I think of Wichita Falls, these things come to mind: Tornados, chiggers, big monster spiders, snakes, and very windy. Been there many times for warfare training where we camped in the desert. I must say the locals are the kindest people I came across and I have been to a lot of places.

@@heavychevygarage you can probably both find work there, but might take longer than it would in PNW. I used to live there, and now I live in the PNW. No question which one is prettier, and which one has a more temperate climate, but I do miss the sunshine in the winter.

I've lived in 11 different locations throughout my life, cities in California, Tennessee, and Texas; Wichita Falls has been my favorite by far. I've lived here the past two years; I guess you could say I found a place that finally feels like home. It's got that small town charm but there's enough to do to never get bored. The one thing I could say I feel is lacking.. a beach! But that's just the Cali in me talking. 😁

I never knew Wichita falls had an commercial airport. though I only been to city once for job interview. Only drove pass if maybe few times I think maybe move there because cost of living is lower than Dallas and its smaller. Where the rents are cheaper in Dallas is not a safe place to be.

We are thinking about moving there from Idaho. I was born in Bryan, TX but move to Idaho when i was 14. Now i am 27. I am just nervous about the bugs like tarantulas, chiggers and cockroaches

Honestly you would not experience any of that living in the City just like any other place in the US. Out in the country perhaps. I live by the base and everything is just as if I lived in any other place California, Colorado, AZ. That's not a worry. We have had a lot of crickets this year but that happens every 5-7 years.

Jesus, this scared me - my father's health is going and wants to fully retire and die in Texas - he is about to maybe lockdown a property in Witchita. This title scared me. We are big cookers, big decoraters for Halloween and Christmas. Concerning the wind, I've learned how to brace my haunted house for storm winds - CONCRETE JACK BLOCKS!

Wichita Falls used to be a 'closed' town. A group of businessmen would stop any outside chain business from ever opening up here. The 'Nifty Fifty' I think they were called. We had to buy all our stuff from local businesses. There were Piggly Wiggly food stores and some Safeways. I guess the local grocery stores weren't capable of supplying all our food. Our 2 local tv stations cut off the air at 12 midnight. Even if the movie wasn't over yet. Crappy I know. Cable tv was shunned and voted down until about 1980. That's when advertisers from outside out area began to loosen the grip of the local businesses. Chains began to move in and now it's more like any other town our size.

I was stationed at Sheppard AFB for 3 months of Tech School in the summer of 1980 - Great Texas Heat Wave (survived) and this was my FAVORITE of all my 28 years of the USAF (retired) and never got back there even though I put in for it numerous times. Too bad I couldn't have met you then because you're knockout gorgeous in this video.

We do and they are especially active in Hill Country. I've seen a few out in the country at night when I'm out, but that is not very often.

I live in Wichita Falls and I would agree it’s boring. I’m a very sociable person and I love entertainment but Wichita Falls lacks entertainment. We do have a lot of places to eat and some new bars but yeah that’s about it. We lack family entertainment, and adult sports are not well maintained by the city. The jobs don’t pay good and there is a huge lack in opportunities.
